"Your ASDA driver Kevin is on his way"

I'm distraught. I think it's just generic. I thought it was actually the name of the delivery driver, but today it wasn't Kevin from a few weeks back. It was a different chap. And he wasn't called Kevin.

So now I don't think "Your ASDA driver John / Gareth / Stephen / Richard is on the way" were actually called any of those names.

I'm really disappointed! Is it just a generic text generated from the depot?!

I'm going to pay more attention to this from now on! I'm sure I had a Kevin the other day

IveSeenThings · 23/07/2020 17:23

How unlike ocado (Jesus in the Cabbage van!!)

Nottherealslimshady · 23/07/2020 17:27

Maybe the driver got changed at the last minute? Why would they put a fake name on?

Xanadu58 · 23/07/2020 17:27

My DH is an Asda delivery driver and he says that the text that gets sent has the actual drivers name (or should do) !

molifly14 · 23/07/2020 17:29

I like Ocado where it tells you 'Phillip is in the onion van' always makes me chuckle

Pascha · 23/07/2020 17:30

Maybe Kevin switched round with him but the computer didn't get updated, or maybe Kevin is just a chosen name (though who the hell would choose Kevin?)

SunbathingDragon · 23/07/2020 17:32

I just assumes that really was the driver’s name. I’ve even addressed them by the name on the text and they’ve never corrected me. Although once I was told the onion van would deliver and it was the cabbage van, so maybe it’s all a lie!

OryxNotCrake · 23/07/2020 17:34

I asked about this once. My driver John wasn’t really John. He said it was because his mate had logged on to the system for him.

Pepperwort · 23/07/2020 17:43

Suits me. I don't need to know the correct name of the person who delivered or served me - I'm sure if there was a problem that could be worked out from work records. Meanwhile employees have a right to privacy. Things are getting ridiculous - we sell our labour to employers, not our full identification for everyone who walks through the doors.

Makegoodchoices · 23/07/2020 17:46

One of mine had the same name as the DS and we had a chat about it. Definitely right name!

ProfInkly · 23/07/2020 17:50

Umm... Could there not be two Asda delivery drivers called Kevin?

NoProblem123 · 23/07/2020 17:50

Jesus in the cabbage van still makes me laugh Grin

That’s what you pay the premium prices for.

goingoverground · 23/07/2020 17:51

@IveSeenThings

How unlike ocado (Jesus in the Cabbage van!!)
I had Septimius-Cyprien in the Cabbage Van yesterday. Well, something similar to that, I doubt there could be another person with the same name, so I've changed it. It was "Roman Emperor-Fancy French name". He looked more like a Kevin though or Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
pennee · 23/07/2020 17:51

Right name for my delivery driver here. Hadn’t seen him for years and he was definitely still a Wayne 😂

JizzPigeon22 · 23/07/2020 17:52

HAs it not occurred to you that more than one person can be called Kevin?

OfaFrenchmind2 · 23/07/2020 17:55

I like Ocado, because the name they give is the correct one. I like knowing that Mihai, Mohsin, Anisah or Aaron are coming. Not only because I can greet them by their name when they arrive, but also when Anisah was coming, I knew that I had a beast of an order and that she may (or may not! She was hugely capable and strong) need an hand with the amount of coke packs I ordered.

NightSpot · 23/07/2020 17:55

All Superdrug collections are from stuart.

Chig · 23/07/2020 17:57

I was waiting for an Asda delivery that didn’t turn up at all

Eventually got a refund.

I’m with Morrison’s now. The DC love guessing which van will bring our shopping. I’m guessing the hotdog van tomorrow.

Apolloanddaphne · 23/07/2020 17:58

My DPD deliveries are always form Scott. I like Scott. Then last week it was Ross who did the delivery. He seemed nice enough but he wasn't as nice as Scott.

pennysea · 23/07/2020 17:58

I've never noticed this with Waitrose before. I'll be inspecting the name tag next time Grin

FatherBrownsBicycle · 23/07/2020 17:59

We sometimes get a lady called Sue and the text about her is correct so I assume that Andy, Dave and Rob are all actual names too. I hope so because DH always shouts ‘thanks Dave’ (or whoever’) out of the window when they have finished putting it on the doorstep.
Maybe it is made up and they just think he’s a loon!

Ellmau · 23/07/2020 18:03

I'm sure I remember someone saying in their job they all used pseudonyms when dealing with the public.

whataboutbob · 23/07/2020 18:10

Definitely generic. DPD always tells me my delivery driver Abdul is on his way. They must have a lot of Abduls.

Ariela · 23/07/2020 18:11

How do you know they don't have two Kevins?
