"Your ASDA driver Kevin is on his way"

I'm distraught. I think it's just generic. I thought it was actually the name of the delivery driver, but today it wasn't Kevin from a few weeks back. It was a different chap. And he wasn't called Kevin.

So now I don't think "Your ASDA driver John / Gareth / Stephen / Richard is on the way" were actually called any of those names.

I'm really disappointed! Is it just a generic text generated from the depot?!

We have a regular one called Ebenezer.

SmallChickBilly · 24/07/2020 13:34

That reminds me of a Facebook post saying something along the lines of

'Jesus is really testing my patience today' which elicited a lot of replies along the lines of 'God only gives us what we can handle' and 'Remember the story of Job'.

Then, the OP followed up with 'Jesus is my 13 year old son and has just been sent home from school for fighting, so thanks for the spiritual guidance, but I probably just need wine!' or similar.

I am currently waiting for Mantautas in the Cabbage van. I'm imagining some sort of Jason Mamoa man-mountain with luscious locks.

Looking at my texts since December it seems I have never had the same driver twice and only once had a Raspberry van.

Mysterious...

I love the variety of names Ocado's diverse recruitment provides.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/07/2020 13:48

@Raimona

I always have the same DPD delivery driver called Adam. Adam is well fit and obviously works out. When the weather is nice he wears a short sleeve T-shirt and I gaze lasciviously at his biceps. DH has no idea why I’m so keen to answer the door when we’re expecting a parcel. I’m now wondering if perhaps Adam is just a generic name that the automated system sends out and perhaps he’s actually a Kevin!
Or a Kyle, like in Legally Blonde. "I've got a package...".

I've got Morrisons coming later. Thomas in the Hotdog van Grin

@Danglingmod

I just scrolled back through my Ocado texts... Back in April I had Jose in the Cabbage Van and I didn't even notice! Do you think he was Jesus' brother? Shock
Traditionally Jose is Jesus’ (step)dad if you speak Portuguese or Spanish Grin

We had Geoffrey from Morrisons a few weeks back. The doorbell went and me, DH and DD from upstairs all shouted "Geoffrey's here!"

Except it wasn't Geoffrey. It was my mum, who was a tad confused why we'd think her name was Geoffrey.

Why do xou need to know the driver's name? Just be happy you are getting your delivery as arranged.

allthatmalarkey · 25/07/2020 05:09

We had a delivery from a Rodney in Lemon van once. DH is a massive Only Fools fan and could only be disappointed when a four wheeler turned up.

MahMahMahMahCorona · 25/07/2020 06:12

@misscarlar - thank you for clarifying!

Of course, Tywysoges, what a dumbo!

Xmasfairy86 · 26/07/2020 11:25

Robert ‘the destroyer’ delivered our dominoes last night 😂

cushioncovers · 26/07/2020 11:28

What's this now?? You have named drivers and vans? Tescos just text you the time they might arrive and expect you to be grateful for that. I feel cheated. Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/07/2020 15:24

Nathaniel just dElivered my asda order, i dont think he was old enough to drive 😳

HexyAndIKnowIt · 26/07/2020 15:41

I had Mac in an Apple van once. This amused me more than it should.
