AIBU to hoard Douwe Egberts jars?

Just in case I need them for something?

They're so nice.

They have been converted into vases, pen jars, food storage jars on my open shelves, a spatula jar, a washing pods jar, a bath salts display jar... I use one as a giant glass of water as well!

A fair few empty ones are currently cluttering up my cupboard and DP is on the warpath to throw them away.

What else can I use the jars for to save them from the recycling bin this Friday?!

Have several DE jars , I remember we had several of the OK ones at work and I didn't "acquire " them , someone took them for candles.
Coffee related , the plastic tops on the metal tins (supermarket own and the barista style brands) are a perfect fit for tinned food - beans / dog food etc incase anyone didn't know ? Very useful!

Ooh I love things like this! I even keep takeaway boxes with the lids because they’re really handy for the freezer. It’s like a free gift 😄

I don’t drink coffee, but maybe I can get Dh to buy it so I can acquire the jars. Apart from storage, they sound as though you could use them as garden lights maybe? I put strings of lights and candles into all sorts.

@Youcunnyfunt Wow thank you - that fridge is a feat of organisation. I am definitely going to keep some of my bigger plastic trays to copycat follow suit. Grin

Oh I do this! I don't even drink coffee but my friend does by the bucket load so I make her keep all her jars for me because they would just get put in the recycling otherwise Grin

DH and I bought our first flat in 2003. His lovely aunt gave us a housewarming gift of three DE jars! Said she could spare them from her collection and it is the best way to store grains, pulses etc. Since then, I haven't looked back! Brilliant for storage and also as "firefly jars" filled with fairy lights. I don't think we've had a christmas without a DE-based centrepiece on the table for at least 10 years.

I also use the big scallop shells from M&S conquille st jaques as soapdishes.

It’s such a waste to throw this sort of thing away, especially when you would pay good money for a new one.

All my ramekins are GU/Aldi rip off GU
All of my small drinking glasses are Nutella jars
I’ve got Aldi candle jars in my bathroom with cotton buds and stuff in them.

I’ve tried to repurpose tin cans for growing herbs on the windowsill (Pinterest style) but they tend to go a bit rusty after a while, so they didn’t last long.

@1neverending - mine are from the big Tesco - in the 'bulk buy' aisle which is fairly new. They are £10 for 400g of coffee

Thanks - you have made me day !

We are hopefully having a new kitchen and these would look lush in my new pantry cupboards Smile
