To think most women keep hair long to be attractive to the opposite sex?

It's always been said men prefer long hair it looks more feminine etc.
I know many women hate having their hair short and are devastated if their hairdresser cuts of more than an inch.What is the obsession with long hair? I have fine hair and cut it short because long hair looks crap on me but I'm definitely in the minority. Even women who look better with short hair because of their hair texture insist on keeping it long. Do you think that's because we are subconsciously taught mainly by men that long hair is more attractive. Plus all teen girls have that uniform ultra long hair there is no diversity. And no I'm not jealous because I have short hair!(well very short bob to be fair.)

I have long hair mainly as I hate going to the hair dressers, haven't been for 3 years.

my hair (long, wavy/curly) is much much easier to maintain when it's long both upkeep and styling. that's why it's long.

Depends on their face. It’s not a good look when you see a woman with long hair from the back and get a shock when she turns around

I hate this kind of comment. Dare a woman have wrinkles or be less than perfect with long hair. How effing sexist.

Perhaps it was on reflection. But I was responding to someone saying that long hair makes you look younger which I don't think is always true.

Who's she? If not a celeb then maybe blot out her face, seems a bit unfair to have a random woman's pic on there, she might be mortified if she sees herself next to a comment saying you hate her hair!!

I keep my hair log because despite it being various lengths over the years (from an inch to right down my back) I much prefer it that way!

Long hair on older women is very ageing, in my opinion

It seems we'll never collectively agree on what's most ageing on older women. Some say long hair is tragic, others say the Karen haircut is the worst of all. (Personally I'm of the latter opinion.)

I guess women are not one size fits all beings .... (mind blown!)

I had glossy, strong hair when I was a child and it seems I lost it overnight when I decided to cut it at age 11, against my mum's advice.

It never recovered, I think I've been trying to get that hair back all these years!

I'm just too lazy to do anything with my hair so like it long. Brush it and tie it back. Yes I'm one of those people who has my hair tied up EVERY day. Although I do wear it down for occasions (although these are rare)

Once when I was about 8 I wanted short hair so did what lots of children do. I grabbed the scissors and decided to go for it. Anyway the hairdresser did what they could. It looked awful and everyone at school said I looked like a boy. Maybe it was a bad hairdresser, maybe it was my hacking, maybe it was my mum having bad taste, but it put me off short hair on me for life.

Oh and I also wash it at night too so I don't have to faff with drying it. Get up the next morning, brush it and tie it back. So much easier.

I have long hair because I like it and I look awful with short hair - I had it short once and it looked awful it needs length or the curl in it looks crazy
I also like the fact that I can have it cut once a year and it still looks good, a real bonus this year.

Mine was so bad I had to have it all shaved. Once it was established it was due to me being an idiot and not having lice, no one gave a shit including me. I still have the pictures somewhere.

I'm in my early 50s, and there's definitely a thing with women older than me, who think that married women over a certain age (which never seems to be defined) should always have short hair.

No way! I love my hair long, I love it for me! I think it makes me look cute and dammit I might be 30 but I still want to feel cute.

When I'm an old lady I'm going to put my grey long hair in a big old lady bun and own it like a boss.
