To think that fish fingers do not go with pasta

Clearly not the biggest deal but I'd be interested to hear views! My OH cooked me fishfingers and pasta with sweetcorn the other day (yes a but bland but we were v. short on time and inspiration!). I micro waved myself a potato instead and put the pasta in the fridge for the next day's lunch. No arguments at all but I was surprised at the offering as I thought pasta kind of needs a sauce? he thought this was normal so I though I'd canvas some opinions!

YABU = fish fingers and pasta is a fine (if uninspired meal)
YANBU = it's a totally weird combination!

But FF with well buttered mash and peas is AMAZING!

FYI....forkful of mash, spear some FF, squish some peas into the mash.

I am now very hungry.

Fish fingers with plain pasta - no no no! Fish fingers (especially the jumbo haddock ones in breadcrumbs) with a lovely, unctuous tomato-saucy pasta - now yer talking! 😋

I'd eat it! Although would prefer pasta with frankfurters.

Oddly enough I quite like fishfingers with rice, but I can’t say I fancy them with pasta.

I don’t think I’d care enough to cook myself something else if someone cooked it for me, though. And I’d shove some mayo on it.

bit weird not to put something on it couldnt u have just grated cheese or a quick sauce

When I was a kid at least once a fortnight dinner was plain pasta, peas and a breaded turkey escalope. There was a jug of 'sauce' on the table that was actually just a tin of condensed mushroom soup (occasionally chicken, v rarely celery). I loved it.
Had no idea it was not considered normal until I cooked it at uni and my house mates pronounced me a weirdo. Not had it since I don't think.

Btw to those who don't think grown adults eat fish fingers - one year dh had ff chips and beans for our Christmas dinner

'Plain' pasta with a good olive oil and plenty of fine salt and pepper is marvellous

I love plain pasta just with butter and a little salt.

Wouldn’t have it with FF personally, but my kids would. They would love your meal OP. They’re 5 and 7.

DS school offer plain pasta as an accompaniment to ROAST DINNER!! (instead of roast potatoes) I think this is an absolute abomination and should be outlawed a very strange combo, but some his (seemingly quite normal) friends choose pasta over roast potatoes I can't bear to ask if they would add gravy....

I love fish fingers but DH is a self confessed food snob and would never dream of cooking them or eating them.

You have just described chicken Kiev's to me. I don't like peas, but as a grown adult (ahem) I will cook myself peas to have with chicken Kiev and mash, as that is what goes.....

What, just plain pasta with nothing on it? LTB, frankly.

Fish Fingers and plain pasta is just weird, fish fingers and canned pasta in tom sauce is fine.

Can I just check if this fish finger eating by adults is happening on a regular basis as a normal meal, or a very random one off for some reason?
