To think that fish fingers do not go with pasta

Clearly not the biggest deal but I'd be interested to hear views! My OH cooked me fishfingers and pasta with sweetcorn the other day (yes a but bland but we were v. short on time and inspiration!). I micro waved myself a potato instead and put the pasta in the fridge for the next day's lunch. No arguments at all but I was surprised at the offering as I thought pasta kind of needs a sauce? he thought this was normal so I though I'd canvas some opinions!

YABU = fish fingers and pasta is a fine (if uninspired meal)
YANBU = it's a totally weird combination!

THe idea of pasta without sauce makes my throat close up! Its dry and just unpleasant with nothing on it.

Fish fingers are wonderful!

The PP not realising adults eat them is either being a GF, thick as fuck or missing out!

I cannot believe no one else has commented on the Sweetcorn. Sweetcorn and fishfingers go together but not pasta and Sweetcorn. Sweetcorn only goes with potatoes!

What about tuna pasta bake. Can't imagine that without sweetcorn 🤔

I’d be surprised to be served fish fingers if no kids eating. But plain buttered pasta can be delicious. On its own the whole thing sounds a bit dry. I’m not sure a plain jacket potato makes much difference to the umm weirdness of the dinner other than personal preference - but if that’s all that you had for whatever reason I’d probably still eat it!

DD14 eats plain pasta and chicken dippers. If the pasta was mixed with a little garlic mayo it would go nicely with fish fingers. Might try it. Although not much beats a fish finger butty.

My DP doesn’t eat fish, so when he is away I delight in fish fingers, oven chips, and either baked beans or frozen peas. Sometimes I go wild and buy myself the M&S Gastropub fish and chips.

I wouldn’t be thrilled at pasta, but just before payday I would roll wit it.

The English are just so weird when it comes to food sometimes. Fish fingers and plain pasta is not a meal. They don’t belong together.
