Thought it was time for another try at recognising these images and catching some child rapists.

They specifically want to trace their origin (location/country). You can help by clicking on an object you recognise and providing Europol with the information you have on the object. This can be done anonymously.

The images are safe to click on (all identifying bits have been taken out), but still may be triggering for some.

They could make sure we're informed every time the list of items is updated

Probably better if you just bookmark the page and set yourself a fortnightly reminder.

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/07/2020 06:58

The poster was correctly identified on the reddit.

Poetryinaction · 07/07/2020 07:02

The newspaper could be Spanish? With the vowels. The words cpuld be MI and ESTA?

Tardigrade001 · 07/07/2020 07:39

Isn't the picture on the orange stripy t-shirt (first one on the list) from Little Robots? There's another picture in the bottom left corner that looks like the dog.

reesewithoutaspoon · 07/07/2020 07:58

the hazy green tin (top right) reminds me of the tins of car wax

JoJoHasIt · 07/07/2020 08:18

@Stelmariah it still helps though. It helps identify the country or eliminate countries. It’s a small piece of the puzzle. Most places in the world don’t have a Primark!

And the time period. You could recognise something that your child wore but your child could be 16 so it can help that the photo is older.

That’s the whole point of it. They get thousands of photos from a computer but the don’t know whether the photo was taken in Shrewsbury or Banberg or Arusha.

Then that information can be passed on to the police in that country who might be able to get more information. But you can’t send every photo to every country initially as there are too many.

BalanchineBallet · 07/07/2020 08:33

@NudgeUnit yes I think it’s lighter fluid. Swan brand. I’ve submitted that before.

zippityzip · 07/07/2020 08:35

@Lifeisconfusing I can't say too much. But there used to be regular counselling and therapy for those that viewed. Now the funding just isn't there. And whatever you can imagine in your head, it's far far worse than anything you think. Just looking at the images on the link have me flashbacks into what was surrounding those photos.

BabyLlamaZen · 07/07/2020 09:06

Can someone at MNHQ please put child abuse in the title as 'trigger warning' in itself does not really say what it's about. I can deal with some of them and this helps but this has really upset me.

BabyLlamaZen · 07/07/2020 09:07

I also dont understand where the pictures have come from and how it works! Have the police sent them?

Dilbertian · 07/07/2020 09:26

@SirVixofVixHall

Picture five, the yellow spray can with the red cap, that looks really familiar to me, I am racking my brain to try and remember. Some sort of insect repellent maybe ?
I'm not sure enough to report this, but I think the taller item might be an insecticide spray and the shorter one a can of Batiste from some years ago, not the sort that are around now.

Does that fit with your recollection?

LadyFlumpalot · 07/07/2020 09:29

@Tardigrade001 - Oh yes! I think you are right! It is very similar to Little Robots. I've tried googling and can't find any Little Robots clothes at all!

Lifeisconfusing · 07/07/2020 09:42

These items may have been from years ago they certainly look old or foreign to me.

Lifeisconfusing · 07/07/2020 09:58

I watched this ages ago it’s old but really shows you what goes on and the scale today is much much bigger.

ConcreteUnderpants · 07/07/2020 12:31

Well done everyone.
whatboutyas great spot on the bracelet.

I also thought the yellow can was some fly spray or something, but it doesn’t quite match up.

It’s so horrible, but feels great to have so many MNetters trying.

Europol is a network of European crime agencies, they deal with extremely serious crimes including human trafficking & money laundering. They have a website, you can sign up to a newsletter.

&Lifeisconfusing
Heartbreaking I don’t know how the people manage to view these images/videos as a job! I think I’d be permanently angry and the images would never leave your head!! Does anyone on here do this job? Or know someone who does!?

I used to do this job. Had a total breakdown from it in the end! The people I worked with are very calm & conscientious & incredibly dedicated. It’s a very, very hard job.

Bloodylegoeverywhere · 07/07/2020 13:47

So sad looking at the images even though they are just parts of objects. I have shared the twitter post on my twitter. I didn't recognise the items.

Sonmi451 · 07/07/2020 14:05

@Queenest

Is it Ronson lighter fuel in the can with the red top?
No, I thought it was lighter fuel too, but we have a can so I went to check - ours is a Ronson can and it's not quite the same - no spray top, just a plain lid, and the red band is narrower. It is similar though.
GenuineKlatchianPottery · 07/07/2020 19:57

Bumping for the evening crowd

SirVixofVixHall · 07/07/2020 20:24

I haven’t used insecticide, and that tin is v familiar, so I am not sure now. I thought it was an insect repellent spray, maybe Autan ? But it does also look like lighter fluid, which I may have had at some point as although I don’t smoke I have always had lighters around for gas cooker, woodburner etc.

Lifeisconfusing · 07/07/2020 21:42

The documentary I shared above is absolutely horrendous

Lifeisconfusing · 07/07/2020 21:43

@inthekitchensink wow You did the job? How are you are you mentally affected for life? 😢

inthekitchensink · 07/07/2020 22:17

@ Lifeisconfusing not great actually, not surprisingly! I transferred to civil service, had a lot of therapy, and now work with young kids in a happy setting, so I can see the good everyday. That helps. And I have my own little one now which caused some flashbacks and PND. But I think all better now. Thanks for asking though, that’s very kind Flowers

myotherusernameisonholiday · 07/07/2020 23:05

Pic 15 looks like a rugby top sponsored by 02 to me, similar to the Irish one from I think a few years ago. The letters at the front aren't on it though so it's not right. Just posting in case it jogs anyone's memory?
