Hands down for me are the ”if this was a man asking/doing/saying/bla bla”.....
all hell would apperently break loose.

What are yours?

(Oh and let’s vote on mine
yabu- you don’t mind these kind of posts
yanbu- you dislike these kind of post)

OP posts:
Scout2016 · 05/07/2020 01:15

I agree with PP who said vague thread titles.

OP being told to get their ducks in a row annoys me too.

safariboot · 05/07/2020 01:15

The fucking drip feeding OPs have to be the worst.

Followed, I think, by the people who either don't read OP's posts or fail basic reading comprehension.

Then there's the reversers.

And the talking about an unspecified "hobby", which invariably turns out to be something really common.

And changing so many details "to be anonymous" that it ends up asking about a completely made-up scenario.

Titsywoo · 05/07/2020 01:18

This is going to make me sound like a right miserable bastard but I hate it when the OP "replies" to every single message in their thread and talks in a really matey way with everyone (obviously not on long running threads where people have clearly been talking for months).

Hushabyelullabye · 05/07/2020 01:38

People who respond to a thread and ask questions that the OP gave info about originally, just read the bread properly!!

Oh, and people who put RTFT and use it to mean 'read the full thread', NO, it means 'read the fucking thread'

Hushabyelullabye · 05/07/2020 01:39

Ha ha bread, thread obviously

SionnachRua · 05/07/2020 01:46

And the talking about an unspecified "hobby", which invariably turns out to be something really common.

Absolutely. Unless the hobby is fly-fishing naked on horseback at the full moon, get over yourself love. It's not that outing. If you're that worried, just pretend he golfs and say nothing about it being soooo mysterious.

My pet hate is the posters that drag their pet topic/agenda into every thread.

Disquieted1 · 05/07/2020 01:56

The 'Outing' bullshitters.

"I can't tell you which hemisphere I live in because it's outing".

"I can't say if I'm over 35 because it's outing."

Just fuck off and stop wasting everyone's time.

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/07/2020 02:04

Simple for me. Any thread where hubby, hubs, hubster, hubby to be, hub is used.

LividLaughLovely · 05/07/2020 02:10

“Is this a line” threads where the picture is crap. 99% of the fuckers.

Turn the big light on
Get closer to the stick
Focus your camera
Crop your scruffy bedroom/duvet/bathroom out
Nobody needs to see your engagement ring on it ffs

EWAB · 05/07/2020 02:19

A poster might talk about something that happened because of a snowstorm/heatwave and people will start questioning her because there happened not to be a snowstorm/heatwave where they are.

A poster might say their kids are on holiday from school and there will be incredulous responses because it’s still term time where they are

It’s the fucking internet! Posters could be posting from literally anywhere in the world not just in your little corner of England!

trixiebelden77 · 05/07/2020 02:22

How old do I look? people.

The responses to those people - lots of frankly deluded people out there who think they’re wrinkle-free at 55 and boast about the fact that people IRL don’t honestly guess their age as 102 but instead are polite enough to knock a decade off. Serious lack of insight or understanding of social norms.

mathanxiety · 05/07/2020 02:28

@TrickorTreacle, x- post means that you and a previous poster managed to write virtually the same post. Maybe one was typing while the other finished up and hit post. The two posts appear close together in the thread.

AhBallix · 05/07/2020 02:28

There have been a couple of mentions of the unmentionable hobby. I hate this too. In fact, I have come to hate the word hobby. For me, they/their DP is in full armour, running someone through in a jousting contest. Or, much more outing, playing golf. Yawn.

Duvetdoggy · 05/07/2020 02:29

Basically anyone who tries to end a discussion as if they were an English teacher ie, I rest my case, discuss, the arguement is over etc.

And I am an English teacher so recognise that weary defeated tone.

ElizabethMainwaring · 05/07/2020 02:52

Oh dear @Duvetdoggy
'As an English teacher' you really should have checked your spelling!

Cornetto69 · 05/07/2020 02:54

@Disquieted1

The 'Outing' bullshitters.

"I can't tell you which hemisphere I live in because it's outing".

"I can't say if I'm over 35 because it's outing."

Just fuck off and stop wasting everyone's time.

This ^^. The Outing BS makes me teeth literally itch.

The following also really irritate me:

How Old Do You Think I am? I know we all feel insecure or have low self esteem at times, and I would generally say I'm quite an empathic person but I find these posts very wearing.

Is (for eg, 9 stone and 5ft 4, size 10) fat??? Ditto with the above- yeah, am guessing you have low self esteem love, but you're boring me. Girl, bye! Also, there are BMI charts, you know! HTH

Can You See a Line/Am I pregnant? I don't know, am not a doctor. Or Mystic Meg.

AIBU to feel upset at what my friend/DP. parent said/did 10 years ago??? It was 10 years, hun! let it go!

Cornetto69 · 05/07/2020 02:55

@ElizabethMainwaring

Oh dear *@Duvetdoggy* 'As an English teacher' you really should have checked your spelling!
Well spotted @ElizabethMainwaring and thanks for reminding me of yet another pet peeve- Spelling freaks! Grin
Duvetdoggy · 05/07/2020 02:59

Ha ha. As an English teacher. I rest my case.

ElizabethMainwaring · 05/07/2020 03:01

Ha ha! @Cornetto69 I know! Smile
It was the 'as an English teacher' bit that got to me, I couldn't let it go.

Cornetto69 · 05/07/2020 03:01

@YgritteSnow

I'm finding MN becoming more and more like Twitter every day. The shaming and exaggerated disgust at alternative views or opinions and there is a slow but steady creep towards attempting to "cancel" posters as far as it's possible to do that on this forum. I know this is said regularly but it was never like this before. It could get heated for sure but the discussion would continue and would often educate. Opinions are now presented entirely as fact and if you don't agree or if you question even mildly, you're immediately labelled a worthless bigot of some kind. I find it really worrying. It's everywhere now.
Yes I have noticed this too.

Oh and the assumptions made that if we aren't gettign outraged about the latest "ishoo" or social justice warrior meme, it isn't because we are bsuy people with lives or are going through health or personal issues of our own, no, we must be racist/homophobic/sexist etc

Cornetto69 · 05/07/2020 03:02

@ElizabethMainwaring

Ha ha! *@Cornetto69* I know! Smile It was the 'as an English teacher' bit that got to me, I couldn't let it go.
That bit made me smile. my sister is an English teacher :)

@Duvetdoggy :)

ElizabethMainwaring · 05/07/2020 03:06

I am an English teacher!Shock

ladypete · 05/07/2020 03:20

The posters who are clearly racist and yet claim not to be!

LunaNorth · 05/07/2020 03:22

Very petty, but posters who are overexcited about their tea on ‘what’s for dinner?’ threads.

‘We’re having slow-cooked pulled pork, with crusty bread and salad. Mmmmmmmm, the whole house smells delicious, it’s been in there for eight hours, I can’t wait.’

You can’t wait? For your tea? I don’t get that excited about going in holiday.

LunaNorth · 05/07/2020 03:23

on holiday, ffs.
