Hands down for me are the ”if this was a man asking/doing/saying/bla bla”.....
all hell would apperently break loose.

What are yours?

Not to write an essay about it on this thread, but there are known trigger points in abuse becoming a factor.

This is so true @pictish.Plus they aren't always nasty. They don't start off like that.It escalates.
It's so easy to look down your nose at people trapped and sneer at them.

Them posters have no empathy.

pictish · 09/07/2020 15:57

In implying the OP is to blame for her poor taste, they only reveal that which is intrinsic to them.

Posters who ask things like "Find me this dress" with no thanks anywhere, like it's an order to staff. (Added CF points for saying "Go!" at the end of it. Not "thanks".

Posters who then get many helpful replies, which OP does not respond to or thank.

OP might come back randomly, post in reply to someone's suggestion "Too short. Anyone else?". or something equally curmudgeonly. And ungrateful.

HOW ABOUT "THANKS FOR LOOKING"?!

Wolfgirrl · 09/07/2020 18:44

There is a thread on at the moment with a really annoying 'type' of poster. They claim to want advice, but don't even respond to the most obvious solutions, preferring instead to moan on and on about their problem. Then they either never come back to the thread or say 'dw sorted it' without ever saying what happened.

They're emotional vampires, they just want to vent while doing nothing about said situation.

ChelseaCat · 09/07/2020 18:59

“Name change for this but long time user - naice ham, penis beaker etc etc”

Why the need to prove you’ve been reading MN?! I don’t give a fuck. Plus every other thread starts with this bullshit so someone who hasn’t genuinely been around for the naice ham, penis beaker etc could easily just copy your crap anyway!

mummyoneboy19 · 09/07/2020 19:11

Posters who go on to literally any thread to write a sarcastic (often just plain rude) response because they don’t like the topic - nobody forced you to open the thread fgs?!

Similar vein, posters who are rude on line eyes threads - I myself had VERY faint positives (still positive, he’s asleep in the next room) and I’ve seen threads where the picture is much clearer than mine and you still get posters who type “THERE’S NO LINE FOR GODS SAKE STOP GETTING HER HOPES UP YOU'RE NOT PREGNANT OP GIVE IT UP” etc... my favourite part though is when the OP comes back to say they’re definitely pregnant. 😂

Sparklingbrook · 09/07/2020 19:15

Can you see a line threads are just annoying. If you can't see it with your own eyes wait a bit and test again, no help posting it on the internet.

butterpuffed · 09/07/2020 19:16

Posters who say they 'didn't want to read and run' .

Posters who say their hobby is 'outing' . Even if it was tennis they'd probably say it.

Or the ones that post for advice, post a couple of times saying no this or that won’t work, then throw an enormous strop calling everyone meanies for not helping or showing enough sympathy, threaten to get the thread deleted, post a few more times getting increasingly stroppy saying why bother replying with stuff i don’t want to hear, this is my last reply...

Russellbrandshair · 09/07/2020 19:19

Urgh can’t stand people who ask for advice then shoot down every suggestion for help. Why bother posting if you don’t want to do anything about it then? Just marinate in your own self inflicted misery then, it’s not affecting us.

Sparklingbrook · 09/07/2020 19:22

New posters. Been on the site 24 hours and then start a complaining thread about everyone on MN being mean and suggesting a Like button because MN has to be like every other site they are on. Grin

Wolfgirrl · 09/07/2020 19:41

It's so annoying! Okay they dont 'owe' us anything but I think if a stranger has taken a few minutes out of their day to try to help, at least have the grace to respond and let them know what happened in the end. It's like listening to petulant children that then strop off because they're not getting 'OMG poor u! U ok hun?'

chrislilleyswig · 09/07/2020 20:10

Posters who are so full of themselves that they expect everyone to know all about them and their background

One particularly annoying one on a thread just now saying that many people know where he lives.

I'm surprised anyone cares enough

Viviennemary · 09/07/2020 20:14

People who haven't got two pennies to rub together wondering how they can turn down an invitation to a hen do in a 5 * hotel in Mauritius without offending the bride. And also pay for a share of the bride's holiday.

Russellbrandshair · 09/07/2020 20:34

@Viviennemary

Even worse- posters who tell them “if it was MY close friend I’d go because I CARE about my friends!” Yeah because the bank will totally understand won’t they?!

Wolfgirrl · 09/07/2020 20:40

People who post a very trivial parenting query, because they just want to jam in there that they're an attachment parent/doing gentle parenting etc🤮🤮

Yesitsthethruth123 · 10/07/2020 07:59

I don't think it happens so much these days but there used to be quite a few sort of themed 'club' style clique threads so you'd get posts like this:

"Hi everyone! Squeezes in the seat next to MarjoryDawes, waves to GollyLightly, unmumsetty hug to FreddiesMum. Cleans spectacles, opens handbag and takes out big bag of starburst. I know HollyMolly loves the strawberry ones, hey Shewhomustbenamed! stop pinching the orange ones! So girls...what's happening?"

Made me cringe.

Oh they are still around!
The ‘in joke’ threads. Nothing anyone says makes sense, posts are a bit weird and not obviously funny but ‘those in the know‘ seem to find them hilarious.
