Hands down for me are the ”if this was a man asking/doing/saying/bla bla”.....
all hell would apperently break loose.

What are yours?

(Oh and let’s vote on mine
yabu- you don’t mind these kind of posts
yanbu- you dislike these kind of post)

OP posts:
Wiltinglillies · 05/07/2020 00:03

My all time most hated posts are the ones where the OP has sought advice and described what an awful time they're having with their partner. Sometimes trivial, but sometimes shocking abuse. Some idiot without a shred of empathy comes along to say: "my husband would never do something like that."
Great, lucky you!

WhySoSexist · 05/07/2020 00:04

@SpillTheTeaa I actually really disagree. This is the only place you can actually get an honest opinion on your body. No one in real life would ever be as brutally honest as mumsnetters. It'll either be the kick up the arse you need to get on the treadmill, eat a salad or get the boob job you always wanted but didn't know you deserved OR it'll boost your confidence enough to work what you've got.

MorrisZapp · 05/07/2020 00:05

People who mention something really weird in their op and when asked about it say 'I'm not in the UK.'

Some people even jump in first, on their behalf. 'well in Alaska children don't go to school in September, op probably lives in Alaska' etc.

Why can't people just admit they're sitting in their pants in Wolverhampton making up crap to get attention?

giantangryrooster · 05/07/2020 00:08

@MorrisZapp well actually I'm not in the uk 😂. Scandi here 👋

Sparklesocks · 05/07/2020 00:08

@WhySoSexist some commenters will be purposefully nasty though just for the sake of it - so how do you know what’s truth and what’s just vitriol?

I just don’t think anything good can come from asking strangers to rate your photos, it’s not something that happy/confident people do - kick up the arse needed or not.

Kittykat93 · 05/07/2020 00:09

Hate it where someone posts a thread like 'what went wrong on your wedding day?' and the second comment was 'nothing, it was perfect.' oh sod off!!!! Or posters who turn light-hearted threads onto something really serious

AhBallix · 05/07/2020 00:13

I came on to say the same as @WheresMyMilk.

I don't understand why anyone would waste their time opening a thread, just to tell OP that there have been loads of threads about the same thing. So what? Maybe OP wants their own personalised answers. Or maybe they just can't be arsed trawling through past threads. Why not have a shiny new one?

Same applies to the always very pleasant suggestion that the OP 'just google it'. OK then, no need for any discussion about anything ... ever. On a discussion and support forum. Eh?

Wiltinglillies · 05/07/2020 00:15

And hijackers who make the whole thread about themselves as they have 'a similar situation.'

otterlielovely · 05/07/2020 00:15

Posters who think advice threads are a pantomime for their entertainment.

I posted about a problem with DP one weekend and the thread concluded on a Sunday night and I agreed I really did need to have an honest chat with him about what was upsetting me.

By 7am the next day there were posters demanding to know what had happened ‘when I spoke to him.’

Yes, because Monday morning when you’re both off to work is such a prime time to have an honest chat about your relationship!

WhySoSexist · 05/07/2020 00:16

People who say "your OP was too long so I didn't read it". It's like turning up to Church purely to say you haven't read the Bible because it's too long - just stay at home!

ExhaustedBeyondBelief · 05/07/2020 00:24

Can you see a line in my pregnancy test?

................

OP: Im really sick, What shall i do?.....

Everyone says go to A&E

OP: Im fine, wont go to A&E

.........

Posters who don't come back and update

......

People that take the micky out of people's spelling
......

How old do i look? (Pic attached)

......

And general

OP: What do you think i should do?

Everyone gives near same response

OP: Nah, i wont do that

Posters calling tomatoes toms or potatoes pots. Stealth boasters. And posters asking if they're being unreasonable and then arguing with anyone who disagrees because they actually want endorsement rather than advice.

FizzyPink · 05/07/2020 00:30

Posters who automatically assume you’re a poor abused woman if you don’t clarify that you’re not.

I mentioned the other day that we were having our garden redone and DP wanted it to be Moroccan themed so I was looking out for things like cushions/lanterns etc. Cue a poster wanted to check that I too wanted our garden to be Moroccan themed and that DP wasn’t forcing it on me Hmm

MistyGreenAndBlue · 05/07/2020 00:32

Anyone who uses the phrase "lap/lapping it up"
A, It's just a horrible phrase that makes me squirm. Ugh ugh ugh.
B, It's generally rude and patronising.
C, It's almost always inaccurate.

MsTSwift · 05/07/2020 00:43

The teacher clique if you dare mention you receive a worksheet once a week and nothing else and it’s not great you are “teacher bashing” as if criticising one teacher or school means you are criticising every last one 🙄. Doesn’t inspire me with confidence in their teaching skills that’s for sure.

Poster who mix up “wary” and “weary”

Ulrikaka · 05/07/2020 00:46

Posters who come onto a thread purely to say: you are going to get flamed for this OP...
Posters who do the whole routine.
Anyone who does a 95 paragraph monologue about a time something vaguely similar happened to them.
Totally unnecessary use of embarrassed or pissing oneself emojis. "My child eats 2 yoghurts a day Blush" "my ds (7) calls cornflakes 'hornflakes' 🤣"

qwertyuiop098 · 05/07/2020 00:47

When some posts a very juicy tale and lots of people rely, but they never return to the thread.

ChicCroissant · 05/07/2020 00:55

I'm not a fan of posters who come on to a thread, ignore the OP completely and take issue with another poster on the thread instead. At least refer to the OP in your response.

Line eyes - this one always gets mentioned, I've blocked the likely places but they still pop up. Just horrible when there is a stream of posters giving false hope to the OP Sad

'link please' posters. I bet you can manage a conversation with someone without Google if you disagree on a point.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2020 01:01

Posters who say "Google is your friend" Angry

chrislilleyswig · 05/07/2020 01:04

Posters who think a three on MN is their own little club with rules and "well actually on this thread we...." and you can imagine them puffing out their chests while saying it.

On threads where we're asked about jobs or earning or something - posters who answer DH earns. Or even worse "hubby earns .."Envy

Posters who post the same shite on every thread, showing off their knowledge even when it's not relevant.

Individual updates and all the "aunties" who lap them up. We've all got exceptional children

Sparklesocks · 05/07/2020 01:06

Nobody is forcing you to stay on MN if you don’t want to, or disagree with how the site is run.

Sparklesocks · 05/07/2020 01:06

Ohh sorry wrong thread!

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2020 01:08

Posters who post on the wrong thread Grin

Sparklesocks · 05/07/2020 01:09

@JaneJeffer my bad Grin
