@FelicityBeedle I have no idea. I just flipped the first flap and poured coffee in. Horrible grinding noise, burning smell and machine was dead. I had a toddler and 2 week old baby so blamed baby brain.

@thetaleunfolds

Smashed my iPhone leaving the shop minutes after buying it. The O2 assistant who sold it to me saw and went white as a sheet

Last week I had a lovely new desk delivered with a leather top to it. Set it up, left the room to put the oven on, came back in and my toddler has drawn all over the white leather with biro. I cried. Still can't get it off (he proper stabbed and scraped it with the nib)

would it be possible to re dye the top with a shoe dye or something?

Bought a new kettle exactly the same as the old one that was tripping the fuse box. I was curious to know if it was the kettle or the base that was faulty so I put the old kettle on the new base and switched it on. I blew the fuse in the new base. My DH has no idea what I was thinking. Neither do I . It had been in the house less than 2 minutes. Blush
Probably too late now but some electric kettles have a pin that pops out of the electrical connection bit (a sort of safety feature if someone turns it on with no water in or the fuse blows and it cuts the power). It is sometimes possible to get something thin and be able to push this pin back into place. Your old kettle must have developed a faulty base so the pin would have popped out on both kettles

I bought six pairs of cream chenille curtains to go all round my conservatory in a closing down sale. Really chuffed with my bargain saving a few hundred £'s. They hadn't been up long and the french doors were open when a baby blackbird flew in and in it's panic to get out it pooped over five of my new curtains and a lampshade. The lampshade had to be binned and it cost £50.00 to get all the curtains dry cleaned!

Not bought, but a few years ago I got a shiny new cycle helmet for Christmas, and dented it on boxing day. At least it was doing its job...

Dropped new mobile phone as I took it out the box, smashed the screen.🤦‍♀️ Luckily I had taken out insurance so managed to get it sorted.

A brand new Stubben saddle , that I saved for five years to buy for my first horse , who was a nightmare to try and get a saddle to fit , as she was a really narrow fronted Arab with a back as wide as a table . Nothing would fit for very long , so I saved up , and got her a brand spanking new pretty much made to measure , hand crafted by artisans gorgeous leather saddle . It took five different fittings , for her and me , and it cost me the best part of £1500 , in 1994 . ( Average leather saddles were about £400 then )

I went and picked it up , all wrapped in its tissue paper , got her ready to ride in it , put it on her stable door while I turned round to pick up the brand new saddle Cloth and girth I’d also bought for the occasion ....... and she got her nose underneath it , and flipped it clean off the door and straight onto the concrete , scraping all the front pommel of the saddle , and the back when it hit the ground . Not ruined , but irreparably scraped . I proper cried .

Same horse also thought my brand new iPhone was a lethal weapon when I dropped it out of my pocket whilst picking her feet out . So she made sure she subdued it by stamping on it . It was 2 hours old .

When the bathroom was refurbed, I was putting a glass bottle on the shelf above the sink and I dropped it, smashing a hole right through it. The builders were literally still on the premises...
When we had our bathroom redone we were advised against a shelf over the sink for exactly this reason.

Back in 1989 my dad bought a black Ash media centre and spent all day putting it together for his hifi. Guess who spilt neon pink nail varnish all over it an hour later? Blush

Several times! A lovely vase I knocked over and smashed as soon as I’d taken it out of the box.
An expensive mirror, I propped up to drill in the fixtures but it slid down and smashed on my new wood flooring scratching it in the process.
An outfit I ordered for a wedding, juice knocked onto it as I stupidly put it on the table.
My oven has a deep scratch in the door handle I caused when trying to drag it into the kitchen from the doorstep. Still annoys me whenever I notice it and it’s 4 years old.
I’m not even clumsy just very unlucky Grin

BigBirdsbird · 11/07/2020 21:58

Kindle.
Bought it, put it in the car, took it out the car, dropped it.
SMASH. Cry.

gwenneh · 11/07/2020 22:01

@plominoagain I cringed reading that. Poor saddle!

Tunnocks34 · 11/07/2020 22:03

Yes today. Only minor but I bought a bottle of wine for dinner, and dropped it on the driveway. Blasphemy.

@MistyGreenAndBlue

I can't help feeling the main lesson to take away from this thread is don't buy an iPhone/iPad. They seem to make the screens from spun sugar.

I already knew this tbh.

I know I’m going to regret saying this but I’ve had countless iPads and iPhone and am yet to crack a screen. I always have them in a case though.
FlamingoAndJohn · 12/07/2020 12:52

@LegitSnack

I have to strip down to my underwear if I'm ever using bleach.
I do the same. I only ever use it in the bathroom though. I don’t seem to be splashing it about on a daily basis like some people do.

Brand new Ford Tourneo, the big un, waited months and months and months for it...

Day 3, OH takes it into town, parks in the multistorey with the awful spiral exit ramp, the one we've both commented on is really tight for longer vehicles, the one we've both said 'yeah lets not park the big bus here until you know how long the bugger is...'...

Scrapes the back end of it SO badly all the way down the bloody ramp, looks absolutely horrific. Get it repaired.

He did it AGAIN three weeks later.
