Wine not time

wannabebetter · 01/07/2020 10:46

Bought 7" single of You Better You Bet by The Who back in the day. Tripped on the stairs & fell on top of it when rushing upstairs to play it - snapped in half Blush

Nottherealslimshady · 01/07/2020 10:47

Bought a beautiful painting in Tanzania, carried it all round Tanzania on safaris and hikes. Left it at the airport.

CorianderLord · 01/07/2020 10:47

£150 jumper - hand washed, set on radiator to dry, radiator burned a line straight across the chest

Isthisfinallyit · 01/07/2020 10:48

Bought an ipl and dropped it the second time I used it. Not from a great height either, from the bed. It fell apart in a few pieces.

WombatChocolate · 01/07/2020 10:48

Bought a new washing machine. Didn't read the instruction to remove the transit bolts before using. New washing machine went beserk during the spin and violently leapt and crashed it's way through and out of the kitchen units it was between, damaging them and knackering itself. I won't forget the sight of DH trying to cling onto it and stop it leaping across the room into the back door.

Treated myself to a Disney spirit jersey in Florida.
Wore it for the plane journey home, got curry on it & it never came out = bin
Second spirit jersey from Disneyland Paris; little boy got tomato sauce on it, it wouldn’t come out, I went to town with Oxy action & somehow bleached a patch right at the front = bin
THIRD spirit jersey bought on a Disney cruise, got bleach on it whilst angry cleaning the kitchen = straight in the bin

I have never ruined any other item of clothing! I actually shed a little tear when the last one went in the bin Sad

Cadent · 01/07/2020 10:50

Also, bought lovely new top in San Francisco and spilled coffee on it within 30 mins. We were hotel so quickly went back and I washed it with cold water but stain never came out.

I think not getting one proper use out of it is what’s maddening.

silenceofthemams · 01/07/2020 10:52

Yes, I can't have nice things. Splurged on a cool scales in pink rose. Had it on the hob ready to weigh something and I'd turned on the ring under the scales instead of the pan next to it. 🙄

The universe was trying very hard to tell you something there.

When I was 21 splurged half my wage on a beautiful baby soft cream suede jacket, that I had been lusting after for months. First time I wore it, it was to a charity function, and they stuck a sticky label with my name on onto the lapel. The sticky stuff never came out, no matter what I tried. I was left with a large ugly rectangular mark. Jacket ruined. Oh how I cried.

Coffeecak3 · 01/07/2020 10:56

Bought a beautiful Limoges dish and dropped it on stone floor of gite whilst unwrapping it. Never even got it home.
On a positive note my dh bought the most hideous coat that even my 89 year old df wouldn’t have worn. He left it on a plane on a business trip the first time he used it. I was so pleased when it was never found.

atimetobealive · 01/07/2020 10:57

@WombatChocolate

I am HOWLING 🤣🤣

My washing machine also packed in yesterday and I’m currently looking at a new one.

You have reminded me to take the bolts out 😂

CorianderLord · 01/07/2020 10:58

Oh yes, and a pipe sticking out of a wall below eye level scraped a gouge out of my brand new, first ever car - one week after I got it 😭😭

Hoppinggreen · 01/07/2020 10:58

Treated myself to a brand new Iphone last month. Bought it outright not on a contract
Thought I really had better get around to putting a protector on it and insuring it asap. Less than a week later I dropped it and cracked the screen. Still works and the protector I was waiting for arrived the same day so the crack shouldn’t get any worse. I need it every day for work so can’t really get it repaired yet

VenusClapTrap · 01/07/2020 10:59

More recently, the day before lockdown started I decided to support a local artisan Chocolatier, by buying the kids exorbitantly priced hand made Easter eggs. Dropped the bag on the way to the car, smashed them to smithereens. Got in the car - brand new Tesla - and drove it straight into a bollard.

southernbelles · 01/07/2020 11:01

My parents bought me my first laptop when I was about 16, the doorbell went so I put it on the floor (🤦‍♀️) but being the clumsy person I am, I walked into the hoover which fell over & knocked into a glass of orange juice (with bits!), & you guessed it, went all over the open laptop 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/07/2020 11:02

Wow!!! Thank you for so many responses! I'm was literally in tears it's the worse feeling! I literally look it out the packaging and just dropped it on the floor! My DH even said that literally looks like you did that on purpose!! (I didn't I loved that light) 😂😂 to add insult to injury the metal frame of it won't fit in the recycling bin so it's just staring at me from the garden table 🙄🙄

I bought foundation , dropped it on the bathroom tiles - smashed. Replaced it. Yes, dropped it again. Smashed again. Third time lucky , it's still intact

Persiaclementine · 01/07/2020 11:05

I didnt buy it but got a beautiful gift of expensive brand new baby clothes when my son was born, I put them in the wash and didnt realise that a red cushion cover was in the wash also,so I had to throw away all these never warn baby clothes as they'd gone pink or a purple colour. Awful, I cried so much.

Cattermole · 01/07/2020 11:05

Not me, but we were in Home Bargains yesterday and there was a young woman buying balloons, the big helium balloons that you get filled.
She got a something and an 0 so somebody's big birthday.
I didn't see what it was though as she walked out of the doors, the wind caught it, and it was swept away into the sky....

Persiaclementine · 01/07/2020 11:05

Oh and my dog broke a brand new ceramic sink only a few hours after we brought it

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/07/2020 11:07

@wombat I'm sorry that had me laughing lol

I bout my daughter a lot of sports wear and just popped them on top

YaWeeSkitter · 01/07/2020 11:10

On the QE2 and wearing a whole new outfit I asked for room service coffee and snacks.
The maid brought the tray to the door and instead of allowing her into the cabin stateroom to set the table properly I stupidly took the tray from her . The spout of the coffee pot which had been facing safely away from the maid was now held up against my stomach and because Im a Klutz and lurched my way across the room the coffee spilled all down my front. White cotton and linen are never the same after a black coffee bath.
