Hut tub dilemma

Cuntycovid · 26/06/2020 23:57

As did half the country we decided to get a hot tub during lockdown , its causing no end of problems with the neighours though

We have lived in the same new build home for a while , friends with the neighbours no problems whatsoever and generally get on well. Dont socialise together but always pleasant exchanges so no problems , we turn a blind eye to some antisocial behaviour on their part. mainly smoking weed in their garden that blows into ours because on the whole they are good people , no loud parties or noise from theirs ect

They seem however to have taken exception to our hot tub as they dont like what they call a loud humming sound that they can hear , we are at a loss what to do about this as we canny move the hottub anywhere else in the garden , we have a large decking for garden furniture /bbq and a home made bar that take up the other spaces in the garden , my husband has spent a considerable time putting electric cables in the garden so repositioning this would be out of the question, we are mindful not to put the jets on after 11pm (checked with local council and this is the time that noise wouldnt be acceptable after) we also spent a fair whack on a set up so we would not consider not using this
Any suggestions other than moving house ?
AiBU for wanting to enjoy my garden ?
Neighbour came.round fairly angry knocking on door

@Cuntycovid

Nope just don’t have any cock neighbours who are clearly up their own arses. But enjoy being on TOWIE

Also have the advantage of having no direct neighbours so I can be a cunt without disturbing anyone. 😂😂

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:21

@nogreenfinger
There is nothing wrong with that sounds like a good night but posters here believe we should all sit in our houses making no noise at all

Your car inside the lines does not mean you aren't taking too much space, you and they have to have space to open doors and.. yer know.. get in or out. So a npying when people park right up to the line and then declare 'well lm inside the space. I imagine that is the case with that model as its a very wide car. Bet they're sick of having to squeeze out of their car without hitting yours with their doors or climb over the seats.
But no they're jealous apparently!!

Bahhhhhumbug · 27/06/2020 08:23

'annoying'

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:23

@heartsonacake I was called a chav so why am I not allowed to retaliate? If you read the whole thread I have been called a chav , disgusting , inconsiderate

Eeek. British class-ism in action. As a non Brit all of these responses are bonkers to me (and mean).

OP - you've been marked as 'lower' down the class scale by some of these posters I think. You sound fine. Enjoy your bar, your hot tub and your car. It's your garden. You could be considerate and do that baffle box thing, but honestly living next door to people means we all have to put up with small irritations. Like trampolines, smokers, hot tub owners etc.

You're fine. Enjoy yourself, try to limit the noise if you can.

Beni1993 · 27/06/2020 08:24

Jealousy Grin I imagine that's what you want, this whole post seems like a bit of a humblebrag.

Maybe they are giving you a hard time because you don't come across as a nice person. That being said, just turn it off when you're not using it?! It would drive anyone mad hearing it all day

heartsonacake · 27/06/2020 08:25

I’ve RTFT. Where were you called a chav? The exact post?

You were called inconsiderate because you are being inconsiderate.

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:25

@galesthismorning
Thanks , its amazing by some posters standards that I can be called a CHAV that only one person (you ) saw fit to challenge (many thanks ) but yet throw a few insults back and I'm in the wrong

minielise · 27/06/2020 08:26

Next doors is against our fence and I can’t hear it unless it’s really early and nobody else is out and I listen for it! During the rest of the day there’s enough background noise to not even know it’s there

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:27

@heartsonacake
Yes I was called a CHAV by @Starksforthewin
Read a bit further back , it's got alot of negative connotation and is hate speech in my opinion

OP posts:
Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:29

@Beni1993
Thanks for your comment, not sure why I come across not nice to you , the thread started off very well until posters saw fit to start criticising , one poster asked what would happen if my husband didnt wipe his ass properly so I asked her what would happened if her husband didnt wash his cock properly before she munched on it
Offensive apparently but her statement wasnt at all Hmm

No you weren’t. I’ve read her posts and she never called you a chav.

Crockodoodle · 27/06/2020 08:29

Does no one else worry about legionnaires?

lottiegarbanzo · 27/06/2020 08:31

Well have you been into the neighours' garden to hear the noise?

nogreenfinger · 27/06/2020 08:31

Eeek. British class-ism in action. As a non Brit all of these responses are bonkers to me (and mean).

Bafflingly! To confirm the OP is a lower class of person because she has an inflatable hot tub, RR, new build & no drive. Just taking notes so I know for the future.

RandomLondoner · 27/06/2020 08:31

I just want to say that the Range Rover Evoque is a very beautiful car, whatever the class connotations of owning one may be. I wouldn't let what other people think put me off buying one. (It's actually the only Range Rover I like, at the risk of upsetting owners here, prior to the Evoque I thought all other Range Rovers were hideous, and in fact I found SUVs generally ugly and pointless.)

I don't have an Evoque, but I came very close to getting one, before settling for a Golf. The Evoques width was one big factor that counted against it, I wouldn't have been able to park it in my garage. Another was that at the time it wasn't available with adaptive cruise control, which came as standard on a medium-spec Golf. Did you know that an Evoque is about the same length as a Golf? It's only the width and height that make it more like a Golf on steroids.

Scruffyoak · 27/06/2020 08:31

I wouldnt be jealous because I do not want a hot tub but the hum would infuriate me!

ukgift2016 · 27/06/2020 08:34

Buying a hot tub is a chavy thing to do.

Monstermissy36 · 27/06/2020 08:37

My neighbours have a hot tub and it does hum all the time... I am really noise sensitive and hate lots of noise from next door but the hot tub hum is ok. I honk I'm used to it now.

When they turn the bubbles on tho I can hear it indoors above my tv/radio with the windows shut! Awful noise and I'm thankful they don't have them on much!

GalesThisMorning · 27/06/2020 08:37

It's a weird british class-ist thing I think. I don't get it. Hot tubs and cars are signifiers that you're the 'wrong' type of person. It's utter shit.

I live in a tiny cottage with a tiny cottage sized garden. I'd love a hot tub! It would be totally out of place in mine though. If I had a friend nearby with a hot tub and an outside bar hell yeah I'd be round for pina coladas! Maybe that makes me chavvy too. Who cares.

Sherloidbaisherloid · 27/06/2020 08:37

My neighbour has a hot tub and it definitely makes a pretty loud humming noise. Doesn’t bother me thru the day but sometimes they are in it late at night and it’s annoying

Sherloidbaisherloid · 27/06/2020 08:38

I don’t think hot tubs are chavy at all, each to their own. I personally wouldn’t be bothered with one as I think I’d get bored after 5 mins in it

Pinkyyy · 27/06/2020 08:39

Ew. You're being disgusting now, how vile.

nogreenfinger · 27/06/2020 08:40

@GalesThisMorning I was under the impression Chav was a very derogatory word & surprised to see it bandied around so much.
