Hut tub dilemma

Cuntycovid · 26/06/2020 23:57

As did half the country we decided to get a hot tub during lockdown , its causing no end of problems with the neighours though

We have lived in the same new build home for a while , friends with the neighbours no problems whatsoever and generally get on well. Dont socialise together but always pleasant exchanges so no problems , we turn a blind eye to some antisocial behaviour on their part. mainly smoking weed in their garden that blows into ours because on the whole they are good people , no loud parties or noise from theirs ect

They seem however to have taken exception to our hot tub as they dont like what they call a loud humming sound that they can hear , we are at a loss what to do about this as we canny move the hottub anywhere else in the garden , we have a large decking for garden furniture /bbq and a home made bar that take up the other spaces in the garden , my husband has spent a considerable time putting electric cables in the garden so repositioning this would be out of the question, we are mindful not to put the jets on after 11pm (checked with local council and this is the time that noise wouldnt be acceptable after) we also spent a fair whack on a set up so we would not consider not using this
Any suggestions other than moving house ?
AiBU for wanting to enjoy my garden ?
Neighbour came.round fairly angry knocking on door

The answer is to invite the weed smoking neighbours into the hot tub. Then you can hold a conference whilst smoking weed in the delightfully classy shag tank.

CupCupGoose · 27/06/2020 07:44

They totally just jealous hun. Haterz gonna hate. X x x

CupCupGoose · 27/06/2020 07:45

Best thread ever. Grin

heartsonacake · 27/06/2020 07:46

YABU and you’re selfish and inconsiderate.

The fact that you checked what the latest time you could legally make noise until shows you don’t give a shit about anyone else, you just wanted to do your own thing and be happy nobody can complain because “the council said so”.

Your neighbours smoking weed is also a separate issue to your hot tub; if you want to bring that up with them then do so but don’t conflate it with an issue they’re having with you.

I am convinced OP is from The Only Way Is Essex. She has the full bingo card!

I have a layzspa. It's under my kitchen window. I have to walk a good 10m away not to hear the hum, but unless I'm thinking about it I don't notice it too much.
Luckily the neighbours patio they sit on and their windows are over 10m away from it so hopefully it doesn't disturb them.
I don't tend to use the bubbles after 8pm as I do think they are noisy. I just like relaxing in the hot water watching the birds and then the bats (and maybe browsing mumsnet on my phone).
Its insulated so I only put the heater on a for a few hours a day but the filter needs to run really. However I imagine if there is a chlorine float in the pool if the filter and heater were off 12 hours a day it wouldn't be the end of the world.
It needs to be plugged into a proper electric supply, not an extension cable as it can overload it and cause a fire, I heard of one recently in Cardiff,

lovelyupnorth · 27/06/2020 08:02

@Cuntycovid

With each post I read if yours you’re coming across more and more as at total cunty neighbour - and a bit of a self-centred arsehole.

So glad my neighbours aren’t like you.

LakieLady · 27/06/2020 08:02

People trying to treat small suburban gardens as “outdoor rooms” is an absolute scourge of our times

Lol, I feel the same @Starksforthewin. When I read about outdoor home cinemas, my heart sank for a moment until I realised that none of our near neighbours would ever contemplate such a thing, and the one family that might are now building a massive "garden room", so wouldn't have space for one anyway.

lovelyupnorth · 27/06/2020 08:02

@Starksforthewin

😂😂

ememem84 · 27/06/2020 08:03

Range Rover evoque are v wide cars. Even if you’re parking within your designated bay they may still have issues with space.

cars have increased in size. Spaces not so much.

Off thread topic but 🤷‍♀️

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/06/2020 08:04

I would have you being my neighbour too. The constant noise would drive me insane.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/06/2020 08:04

Hate not have. Too tired to be annoyed even when I type.

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:06

@FiveShelties honestly it wasnt worth mentioning just for perspective about why we think they might a little jealous

We visited friends for a movie night before lockdown & everyone wore headphones. What's wrong with that?

LakieLady · 27/06/2020 08:08

I'm not that fussed about the weed hence not bringing it up with them , I'm only mentioning it as if they are gonna take issue with us we should bring that up with them

You sound childish, OP. Something that happens 4-5 times a day, for a few minutes, isn't really comparable to a droning hum that goes on all day.

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:10

@Starksforthewin
Its given a Google laugh this thread with the replies but honestly every detail iv put in is correct , if people dont like my husbands car sorry for that , it's his choice of car not mine , I think if you met us you would realise we are not off towie ha ha

@starksforthewin
What do you drive ?

Azerothi · 27/06/2020 08:10

Before we moved our otherwise lovely neighbours at the bottom of our garden had a proper non-inflatable hot tub installed. Not the chavvy inflatable one. And to be honest it wasn't the constant noise it was the awful smells that came wafting over when they put various bubble liquids or chlorine in it. It was just vile,

Cuntycovid · 27/06/2020 08:14

@lovelyupnorth
Glad my neighbours arnt like you either you sound very dull to be honest

I think its childish to smoke dirty weed in your 40s to be honest

Rosehip10 · 27/06/2020 08:20

Hot tubs in back gardens are essentially vulgar, however smoking weed is too. Feel sorry for your others neighbours with noise from you and drug taking from others.

heartsonacake · 27/06/2020 08:20

There’s no need to be abusive OP just because people aren’t telling you what you want to hear.

Pinkyyy · 27/06/2020 08:20

I'm sorry OP but you sound absolutely awful. Saying that they're "just jealous" is something a 5 year old would say. And it just gets worse from there.
