My top Three Most Epic (Semi) Silent Battles with DH

100 days into lockdown and here are a couple of my most epic (semi) silent battles with DH:

In the evening when we need to put a light on I switch on a few lamps that lights the room beautifully, he puts on an overhead light to give us that “interrogation” feel.

I put the milk back in the fridge immediately after using it, he leaves it out on the counter presumably so the rest of us can enjoy the delights of room temperature milk later in the day.

I like the TV remote control to sit between us on the couch so we can each flick channels if we want, he thinks he is the master of the remote control and must sit holding it.

AIBU? Please, I want to know that these things are not just happening to me!!!!

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

YABU if these are silent battles. If you aren't happy about these things then discuss them with your DH.

Maybe you'll need to compromise about the light but be shouldn't hog the remote or leave the milk out. These shouldn't be big enough issues to write a thread about though. Don't you actually communicate with each other?

Oh come on, it would be a miserable life if our partners constantly told us all the things we do that annoy them. Sometimes you have to just let it slide.

@44PumpLane same here. I think he waits until I'm trying to watch something then launches into a long boring story about something somebody said at the golf course 13 years ago. I've given up trying to watch anything when he's home!

@DressingGownofDoom thank goodness pits not just me who has to ensure this!!

I won't watch anything that I truly enjoy with him as I just want to watch it in peace!!!!

I have the electric recliner seat Grin
I also have the main ‘better’ remote control.
I will never wash his coffee mug that he leaves out with a dribble of coffee in the bottom.
Dh leaves the milk out. He should know better as we used to live in Oz.

For some reason :

Dh leaves the lid off the tea caddy after making me tea EVERY morning. No idea why?

Secondly if we ever have Prosecco he never bins the wire, foil and cork. No idea why not as it's not reusable?

While watching the news on TV, as each item draws to a close, DH gives me a running commentary of his viewpoint/experience on said item so I miss the start of the next news item. In his defence, he has got a lot better at NOT doing this but it has taken countless years (and plenty of hard stares).

Also leaves his shoes anywhere but the shoe rack (if I get the rage I stuff them on the rack under other shoes so he can’t find them Grin)

Never chucks anything broken away - it all goes out to the shed as it may “come in handy”. When I challenge him on this he always brings up the one time our shower broke and he managed to fix it using a part from the previous broken shower he’d kept in the shed for 10 years.

That said, he is a top bloke and in the highly unlikely event I have any annoying habits, he totally overlooks themSmile
