What would you think if you saw someone on their own on the beach op?

It seems a very bizarre thing to be s/c about.

1WildTeaParty · 24/06/2020 12:40

I live at the sea-side and it is normal to see people on the beach alone.

It wouldn't occur to me to consider that they are lonely. They might be loving the freedom - or they might just be sitting with the belongings of others.

It would be too ordinary a sight to leave me speculating.

userxx · 24/06/2020 12:47

Stop stressing and embrace the moment. You came into this world on your own, will hopfully go out on your own so just enjoy the solo moments inbetween.

bluevioletcrimsonsky · 24/06/2020 12:49

No one thinks you are loser, OP. Most will be jealous for having a lovely time on your own. Why do you care what others think anyway?

Tish008 · 24/06/2020 12:52

@Megatron I think it's a very human struggle,, especially for women. I still fall back to old thought patterns sometimes but remembering that quote always works wonders for my self confidence.

OP just enjoy. You have made me realise I have never been on a beach on my own and I am hugely envious.

Megatron · 24/06/2020 12:55

@Tish008

I've just sent it to a friend of mine who is struggling at the moment. 😊

GwenSaturn · 24/06/2020 12:56

I'd love that! Enjoy!

I dearly love my DH and my dc, but 3 months of lockdown is making me crave alone time.

Any glances you do get will be pure envy, I'm sure! Grin

IntermittentParps · 24/06/2020 12:57

Why would you go to a beautiful quiet beach and play music out loud for the world to hear? I hate this.

Why are people so keen to assume the worst? I'm assuming the OP is listening to music on headphones.

starrynight87 · 24/06/2020 13:00

I do a huge amount by myself, I love it!

TazSyd · 24/06/2020 13:14

I used to do loads of stuff by myself, until DP and DD came along. Once you get in to the swing of it, you’ll stop feeling self conscious. No one will even notice. Enjoy your day (jealous)!

sqirrelfriends · 24/06/2020 13:17

Lucky you!

I used to be self conscious about this kind of thing, I wouldn't even go clothes shopping by myself. Now I love it, it's so nice to not have to worry about another person for a change.

cultkid · 24/06/2020 13:20

I am self conscious on my own too
It's bad enough when I am in swimsuit with my husband
I relate
But I never ever ever look at anyone by themselves and think how weird xx

canonlydoblue · 24/06/2020 13:27

Being on my own on an empty beach is my idea of heaven. Enjoy it!

TerrorAustralis · 24/06/2020 13:29

OP, you sound like my sister. She can't go to the toilets in a pub by herself.

I recognise it, but I don't get it.

IndiaMay · 24/06/2020 13:30

I'm on my own at a beach at the moment and it wouldnt cross my mind to feel self conscious! I've gone solo travelling quite a few times accross Asia, India and europe and love a bit of time on my own. No one will think anything of it!

IndiaMay · 24/06/2020 13:33

Now I'm reading this and wondering if I'm the weird one! Ì have lots of friends but equally if I want to pop into town clothes shopping I just go without the need to ask people to come with me, if I'm going to the gym or for a coffee I'll go alone. Sometimes I go with other people it just depends how I'm feeling! I'm surprised theres so many people who dont do this. If I'm around people 24/7 I just want to scream

HowFastIsTooFast · 24/06/2020 13:36

Exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow; enjoy it!!

blackteaplease · 24/06/2020 13:38

Relax and enjoy the beach. Whenever we go on holiday I always see solo people at the beach, don't feel self conscious. In fact I'd love to be at the beach alone right now

LaurieMarlow · 24/06/2020 13:39

I love, love, love being by myself.

I honestly can’t think of anything better than your situation right now. Please relax and enjoy it.

For yourself obvs. But also on behalf of those of us for whom being alone is a distant dream right now. Grin

monkeyonthetable · 24/06/2020 13:41

Enjoy it. There were loads of people on the beach near me yesterday - swimming, sunbathing, eating ice creams - like normal but less crowded. Nothing for you to worry about. The sea washes the beach every day with salt water. :)

havingnumber2 · 24/06/2020 13:42

Sounds like utter bliss.

I'm currently working in a spare bedroom in our too hot attic conversation while my 3yo screeches "mummy!!!!!" From downstairs even though my DH is right next to him.

So jealous

Grannywatch · 24/06/2020 13:47

Gosh looks heavenly.

I went backpacking around a couple of continents years ago. I saw some amazing cities and countries but I still remember jumping in the waves by myself.

Absolutely no difference to sitting in the park by yourself. Completely normal :)

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 24/06/2020 13:50

Lucky you, ours are bloody heaving today! Going to go down later when hopefully some of the day trippers will have gone home.
