So it's a gorgeous hot day,I've came to the beach on my own and I'm ridiculously self conscious
Aibu and a bit silly ?
I a mid 30s woman and I'm worried

My friends are all at work today so didn't want to stay in the house

I'm at work (in the sweltering spare room), and if I had the day off (kids are at school), I'd be laid under a tree down by the river, with a book, some music, a few crafty cans of cocktail, and no one else. :-)

I’m afraid I literally can’t understand what is note worthy about being at the beach alone? Why on earth would anyone think you a loser? And why would you care if they did? Bizarre notion.

First of all, nobody gives a toss about someone sitting on the beach soaking up some sunshine. People are too self-absorbed in general to give something like this any consideration.

Second of all, even if anyone notices you and thinks you're a looser so what? It will have no impact on your life whatsoever, right?

I love going to the beach on my own. I drop dc to school and spend the day on the beach on my days off in the summer. I don’t have to watch what the dc are doing, don’t have to put suncream on everyone or make sure they are drinking enough.

It's no different to going for a walk on your own or sitting in a park on your own. Nobody will bat an eyelid, it's perfectly normal. Enjoy.

I'm 40 and I've always walked alone and on occasions eaten alone it really doesn't bother me.

Nobody will think you're a loser! Much as I love my family, I think a relaxing time on the beach without dc (and ddog) would be fabulous!

People will think you are a loser? Trust me, no one gives a shiny shit about you. Do you really think you are that important that people will be analysing why you are alone? You aren't. Now, enjoy your day. I am very jealous.

There's a few people further along but I have loads of space to myself. I'm being silly aren't I ..I'm going to turn my music up and ignore the world

i went to the beach alone yesterday, the only thing i would get 'judgy' about is you playing music, no one wants to hear your music, did you bring headphones?

What others think doesn’t matter.

Suggest you do lots more things on your own, it becomes much more comfortable!

Most people will think you are lucky not to trail a bunch of kids and can actually chill!

What's wrong with being on your own? People go on their own because they want to, because they are on their lunch break, it's such a common thing I am amazed anyone even notices.
