Am I the only one that doesn't like this weather?

This may possibly just be me but I actually can't stand this weather! I get anxiety every summer. The thought of being outside sweating, itching, burning and surrounded by wasps/flies is like my worst nightmare. My poor kids/hubby think I'm insane (they do go outside obv) but I am much happier being in doors with windows open and fresh air/sun coming in than being outside and so uncomfortable. I do burn easily and hate the feeling of suncream (especially when it drips off in white streaks, stains clothes etc...) please someone tell me they have the same experience, I feel particularly naff about it today and friends invited us for a bike ride and felt bit crappy turning them down as I cannot fathom how on earth that would be enjoyable but felt shitty turning them down with no real reason as to why! I often turn stuff like that down in this weather as I just do not enjoy it. Favourite time is around 6pm when it is cooling off so we often do stuff in the eve. Is it just me???

Yes i ger flashbacks from hot weather. I feel miserable.

Washyourhands48 · 24/06/2020 14:19

Every fucking year, we get this on here. It’s a couple of weeks...

Soon enough you’ll be having your “cosy autumn nights in jumpers and hot chocolate”.

But for now 🙄🙄🙄🙄

LimitIsUp · 24/06/2020 14:30

Ah just do one wont you. We get just as irritated by the sun lovers going 'ooh isn't it a lovely day / isn't it gorgeous'

We are allowed to moan about the heat

It’s obvious what the thread is about. So don’t open it...

Start your own thread if you must about being a sun worshipper

Leave us to moan and grouse in peace

Leave us to moan and grouse in peace

Like the autumn/winter/spring lovers leave the summer lovers alone to moan and grouse in peace, rather than waxing lyrical about "cosy blankets" "crisp walks" and other such nonsense...?

Wowthisisreal · 24/06/2020 14:55

I didn't RTFT, I didn't even read your whole post OP (just the first couple of lines) and I felt compelled to say YES THIS IS ME.

I walked for 1 hour at 9am yesterday and developed a lovely lobster colour across my shoulders. I get hot, sweaty and uncomfortable in this weather. I HATE IT.

Wowthisisreal · 24/06/2020 14:58

I love warm weather but my idea of a horrible afternoon is when someone says "ooo shall we have a BBQ?!" NO!!! I'm happier indoors, blinds closed, windows open any day.

Also this weather reminds me of why I hate the beach. Summer holidays being trapped on a beach with no way to escape the heat, knowing I'm going to burn, sand sticking to me. Eugh.

Pepperwort · 24/06/2020 15:14

I hate it. Hate hate hate it. To those who think we could all go away and stop moaning, from a very hot, bothered and grumpy me, go away yourselves Smile.
It makes me feel sluggish as well - glad there are others like that - and can actively make me ill. I get heat exhaustion very easily. The humidity and that constant feeling of thunder in the air make it worse. The continent is slightly better for me. A swimming pool would be even better.

Bellabatwings · 24/06/2020 15:17

I hate it!
In Scotland so its dark for about 4 fucking hours a night!
The brightness hurts my eyes even with sunglasses on, its noisy (other people)
Walking the dog is a nightmare, loads of unruly off the lead dogs ( that i never see when its raining or snowing)
And the expectation we should all love it, WHY?
I dont tell people they are miserable when they moan about winter!
And finally i was gutted that we had such a mild winter, all my gloves and scarves were washed in anticipation, didn’t need them though... bastard!!!

PilatesPeach · 24/06/2020 15:22

I am too hot even sitting doing nothing. It's extremes - last week 14 degrees and tipping it down, now 32 degrees - something inbetween would be great maybe 22 so warm enough for tshirt and shorts. I didn't sleep properly last night as so warm and feeling quite sicky today with fatigue & heat.

safariboot · 24/06/2020 15:31

YANBU.

For me, I think this hot spell has been short enough that it's not too objectionable. Our lounge faces northeast and stays cool, and windows open in the evening cools off the bedrooms. If it went on for two weeks it'd probably leave the house constantly hot though.

I also always think that it's one thing to go on holiday somewhere hot where you can just laze around. When the heat comes to Britain we have to work in it, and whether you're indoors or outdoors that's really no fun.

Teacuplady86 · 24/06/2020 15:32

We’re having a terrible day because of the heat and sun too.

Does it make anyone else feel like they’re dreamy / everything is surreal? Or is that just me? Blush

Auridon4life · 24/06/2020 15:33

I hate this weather I'm soo hot all the time. I love the lake District and edinburgh. I just want it to be mild all the time.

TrickyKid · 24/06/2020 15:35

I love it as long as I can sit in the shade. I'm currently alternating between sitting under the umbrella and going the padding pool. I don't like going out in it or actually having to do anything.

LimitIsUp · 24/06/2020 17:38

I don't see your point at all Soupdragon - we have left you alone. Why on earth did you open this thread when the title made it abundantly clear what it was about? Should have been obvious that it wasn't your bag Confused

Of course "you" don't leave "us" alone! 😂😂 you're there in droves with your hot chocolates and cosy evenings under a blanket.

I opened the thread to post on it, obviously. It's in AIBU and asks "is it just me". I'm just as allowed to post an opinion as you are.

Ginfordinner · 24/06/2020 18:11

Although I love fine weather, rather unusually, I didn't go outside today, except for a run at 7.30 this morning, then to eat my breakfast. I have an Aperol and tonic in my hand and am going outside now to tend the barbecue.

I find my tolerance for very hot weather is waning and my optimum temperature is 23 - 25 degrees.

louisawhitegenius · 24/06/2020 20:06

Yeah today was pretty unbearable but stayed inside and now a lovely breeze is coming. Thabk goodness only 2 days and then back down to lower 20's Grin

OP posts:
Ginfordinner · 24/06/2020 20:45

And in our case 18/19 degrees

Teacuplady86 · 24/06/2020 22:07

Where is it coolest (temperature) in the summer in the UK?

NeverForgetYourDreams · 24/06/2020 22:07

I don't either. A nice 20 degrees suits me. Only one more day to go

Ginfordinner · 24/06/2020 22:08

Shetland, the Hebrides, Orkney, the Highlands.

LimitIsUp · 24/06/2020 22:11

Just been looking at the weather forecast in the Highlands. Much more civilised. How are second home owners regarded there - with antipathy?

Magicbabywaves · 24/06/2020 22:44

Was 30 here in London today. I must say I don’t care for it. I can take the daytime, but it’s the nights, it’s still really hot and worse than yesterday as it’s built up and the houses seem to absorb and retain the heat. 24 is peak perfection for me.

Magicbabywaves · 24/06/2020 22:45

I used to live in Scotland, I did not appreciate the cool summers at the time.
