Or am I just too picky?

Whenever DP has a roast dinner, he'll put his gravy on and then mash his roast potatoes and veg together into one big pile in the middle of the plate. He'll then douse it in more gravy and mash it some more.

Don't get me wrong, I love my gravy and have quite a bit but i think it just looks soooo wrong when he does this, even more so when we have Sunday lunch out.

I’d be a bit embarrassed if someone I was with did this in a restaurant but I suppose it’s not the end of the world.

I'd feel sick watching that. I would never have got into a relationship with someone who would do it either. I am very much of the 'separate your foods camp', to a weird degree.

Could you tell him it puts you off your food having to look at the slop pile he has made? It would put me off.

All this talk of roast potatoes has just reminded me that the end of the world hasn’t occurred yet has it?
😆

It is all going to get mashed up together in his mouth - can’t he wait?

I don't think I'd be cooking for someone who took my lovingly cooked food and mashed it into a slop pile. I'd find it disrespectful tbh.

That is the best way to eat potatoes and greens in a roast dinner. I hope he licks the gravy off the plate afterwards. As long as he is not eating out that is.

If he also mashes carrots and peas then that is not right at all, just potatoes and greens and gallons of gravy and maybe mint sauce on top. Comfort food.

(Also needs plenty of salt).

Ok ish at home but not out or in 'company' (guests)
It wouldn't be allowed for a 7 year old and he's a grown man!
How did you get past dating stage?

You married him!

So am I, it wasn't until my Dil watched me eat and then said So that's where DH gets it from that I realised how obvious my strange habits are. I was completely aware that I do separate food but I didn't realise that my son does too.

It sounds a bit gross to me but he can have it how he likes really. As long as he’s chewing with mouth shut etc.
I mix my ketchup and mayo and bf gets angry which makes me angry and ruins dinner time for everyone!

People have been locked down toooo long commenting on this minor stuff...someone was getting upset about how their DP holds his knife at the table.

Don’t ever eat haggis, neeps and tatties then. All mushed together on the plate then sauce poured over to bind it all together. Amazing.

My sil does this, it looks disgusting, like something a baby would eat.

I do this Blush it tastes soooo good. I eat a bit of it 'normally' and then mash it all together and eat the rest. Amazing.

My sister does that any time she has mashed potatoes on her plate. She'll mash it together into a lump of everything. It's a bit odd!!

Perhaps at a restaurant tone it down but at home, he likes what he likes, I wouldn't care.

😂😂 This has properly made me laugh out loud

That’s gross but has made me laugh so much, something our 4 year old would do and I’d have to avert my eyes. Not sure how I’d cope with a grown man mashing his food up like a toddler. Has he no teeth?
