What can women do that men cannot do? (Reproductive features aside)

Happy Father’s Day to all celebrating! June for me is Fathers month as my dad passed away in June so truly I think of Fathers and Men a lot this month.

I would like some ideas around the question - What can women do that men cannot do? -

Am I being unreasonable to think that aside reproduction (potential to carry babies, features that come with this) there’s nothing.

If anyone can help with a different view, I’d be grateful.

Thanks

Woman can get paid less than men. Woman can get labelled as aggressive if they ask for a pay rise. In some places women can get raped as a punishment to their family. Women can be required to cover their face. Women can be stopped from exercising normal freedoms without the permission of a male guardian.
It’s amazing what superpowers these women have.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 21/06/2020 15:50

Are you ok @shiny, because no one is saying that it isn't massive, just that women can be predators too...

FridayNightAtTheBronze · 21/06/2020 15:52

BessMarvin

It's because they are generally heavy, muscular and cumbersome. The balance beam is a graceful sport.

Many women gymnasts slip off the balance beam and are able to go on to have children.

You're being a bit disingenuous there. The majority of sexual predatory crimes are committed by men.

SerenDippitty · 21/06/2020 15:54

Find something in a cupboard or drawer without it shouting out to them.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 21/06/2020 15:54

Seriously 🙄

ShinyFootball · 21/06/2020 15:57

Yes I'm perfectly alright thanks, how are you?

SchrodingersImmigrant

If that is aimed at me, then yes, seriously.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/06/2020 16:03

Well - if you believe Victoria Wood, in her sitcom dinnerladies - Dolly says “Women can’t fold maps and men can’t get interested in headboards - it was in the Daily Mail”.

Ask for direction

Merename · 21/06/2020 16:12

There is no doubt that sexual offending is a largely male crime. But I am not sure what ‘leave it there’ means - I hope that we will not dismiss the experience of the men and women who have experienced sexual abuse by a female as any less important, just due to its rarity.

Kimsha · 21/06/2020 16:15

Thanks for the answers. As for why I’m asking, I mentioned that June is Fathers month for me and I remember my dad quite fondly. While I am aware that women on an average might have a poor experience with men I couldn’t help notice that even those who have good experiences don’t celebrate men as such e.g the huge difference celebrating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

I had hoped for much more than stereotypes on the thread, thanks for the laughs. But lots of answers seem to still be founded on biological differences (seems it’s hard to escape this) and then some say ‘nothing’ which I’ve been thinking about too - We might need to hold men more accountable to things they claim they cannot do...and those that do...celebrate them as much as the women in my life.
Just thoughts....

@Kimsha

1 Empty the litter tray...or feed the cats for that matter.
2 Empty the vacuum cleaner.
3 Use the washing machine.
4 Go to a supermarket without a list and buy a weeks groceries/essentials (and not just buy a loaf and some kit-kats)
5 Hang curtains.
6 Change the bedding - especially the duvet cover and pillowcases.

or it could be that i've just got a particularly useless defective one Hmm he can make a decent Brew

InfiniteSheldon · 21/06/2020 16:20

Recognise and interpret a bigger range of facial expressions
Recognise their partner by smell alone
Understand a far wider range of different sounds from babies crying
Hear a different range generally

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 16:21

thought of another
7 not cleaning around the doors/boot/bonnet when washing the car. You could say lack of attention to detail.

Kimsha · 21/06/2020 16:24

My husband does all that. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Put up with outrageous shit from a partner and still blame themselves! Grin

Historically, I think women may have the edge in being burned for witchcraft.

Men are much better at growing attractive facial hair. Never mind penis envy, I'm jealous about the ability to grow sideburns and a badass moustache.

ShinyFootball · 21/06/2020 16:30

'But I am not sure what ‘leave it there’ means - I hope that we will not dismiss the experience of the men and women who have experienced sexual abuse by a female as any less important, just due to its rarity.'

It means let's not derail this thread, if you want to discuss it, it would be best to start another. I'm more than happy to join.

For clarity, I do not dismiss/ want legalised, sex offences carried out by women.

Oldraver · 21/06/2020 16:31

@NeutralJanet

Change a quilt cover. Mine is literally incapable

Same Grin. I made the mistake of asking him to help me with it once, he was such a liability that it's easier just to do it on my own.

If you want a real laugh, get them to put on a Le Redoute duvet cover (or the ones with the flaps at the bottom)

OH thought he had it sussed till last week and I got one of these out

NeedToKnow101 · 21/06/2020 16:52

I don't really understand the correlation between celebrating Father's Day, and asking what women can do that men can't?

Surely you should be asking what men can do that women can't?

converseandjeans · 21/06/2020 17:32

Ask for directions
Change bedding
Find things in the house that are 'lost'
Remember birthdays
Remember names of kids mates
Buy & wrap up Christmas gifts for extended family in time for the postal deadline (and post them off)

Hoohaahoo · 21/06/2020 17:39

Offer a lift to a young girl?

I mean technically a man can do that, but I don’t think it’s socially accepted the same way a woman offering a lift would be.

ChewChewsBiscuitTin · 21/06/2020 17:52

I can walk past shelves and accidentally knock things off with my boobs. I can also accidentally dip a boob in a plate of gravy when reaching for the salt. DH can't
