What can women do that men cannot do? (Reproductive features aside)

Happy Father’s Day to all celebrating! June for me is Fathers month as my dad passed away in June so truly I think of Fathers and Men a lot this month.

I would like some ideas around the question - What can women do that men cannot do? -

Am I being unreasonable to think that aside reproduction (potential to carry babies, features that come with this) there’s nothing.

If anyone can help with a different view, I’d be grateful.

Thanks

Apart from anything to do with reproduction, there is nothing that men can do that women can't and vice versa.

Men can run 100m in under 10 seconds. That's something women haven't been able to achieve yet.

WildOrchids67 · 21/06/2020 12:32

Fake orgasms?

RandomLondoner · 21/06/2020 12:34

Run longer distances faster, ultra marathon women runners tend to be faster, and even in standard marathons women are catching up with the men (after years of minimal support to women's sports I might add).

I've read that women are better at long-distance swimming. The have more endurance in cold sea-water.

Sparklesocks · 21/06/2020 12:34

When you take out the biological stuff, not much.
But I do think there are things women generally manage better.

digbee · 21/06/2020 12:35

ultra marathon women runners tend to be faster - this is a persistent myth, but it's not true. The best women are about 10% slower than the best men at all distances from 100m to 1,000km.

Nanny0gg · 21/06/2020 12:36

Women manage to refrain from picking their noses in public - something that, it strikes me, men fail to achieve.

Nope. I had a secondary school teacher back in the 60s/70s who did that. Other grotesque behaviour too (post war employment).

WorraLiberty · 21/06/2020 12:36

@TeddyIsaHe

Women can walk everywhere without spitting in the street.

Have never in my 31 years seen a woman spit, see men do it all the time. WHY? It is fucking disgusting.

Fuck me, honestly I'm not just saying this but that's probably area dependent.

Lots of women spit in the street here. Some have the 'decency' to hoik up and spit it in the gutter but most don't.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 21/06/2020 12:37

I beg to differ😂 I am still Shock at one colleague who couldn't leave her nose alone and... Had a taste....

I'm actually wondering now if this thread was meant to draw out the sexism/ignorance in some posters?

If so, it's working well.

Reading instructions before starting to assemble flat pack furniture.
Ask for directions when lost.
Do repetitive household jobs without expecting special praise/a medal.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 21/06/2020 12:42

Change a quilt cover.

My dad was brilliant at that. Could even do it whilst balanced on the ladder of my bunk bed.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/06/2020 12:46

Compete in synchronised swimming at the Olympics.

Pinkblueberry · 21/06/2020 12:47

Apart from making sperm, what can men do that women can’t?

Pinkblueberry · 21/06/2020 12:49

Oh I misread and meant the other way around...
I can’t think of anything much apart from reproductive stuff for both.

GreenTulips · 21/06/2020 12:52

Walk round the supermarket properly (They get in the way and are oblivious to anyone else around them)
Can’t shop without ringing their wives to discuss X Y and Z brand

Smallsteps88 · 21/06/2020 12:54

Be Queen.

Pinkblueberry · 21/06/2020 12:58

Being a Queen is a good one - a Queen’s husband can’t be King but it does work vice versa.

Jaxhog · 21/06/2020 12:59

Be part of a book club.
No, my book club has both men and women.

Aside from the reproductive differences (which are really pretty important), I don't think women, as a generalist group, can do anything men can't. Although, clearly, many cultures think they can e.g. incite men to sexual violence, 'corrupt' men through menstruation etc. 'Equality', such as it is, is a relatively recent thing even in the west, so women are really only catching up.

Although I would agree with the spitting thing. I've seen lots of men do it, but never a woman. I have tried it (in private obviously) so it isn't a physical difference. Perhaps women are naturally more civilized?

Play competitive and club netball

Oh, that's a shame. I've just read an article about how they tend to manage better in these events compared to men, but that was based on the percentage starters who finished, compared to actual times. I understand though that women a three times more likely to finish a race compared to men.

I was bored enough to try this, and had the same confused reaction as this guy:

My wife, on the other hand, couldn't do it. This must be why I’m in charge of moving furniture.

iklboo · 21/06/2020 13:07

Have the volume on the tv / radio lower than 'can be heard in Alpha Centauri' level.

Cam77 · 21/06/2020 13:14

Silent treatment. Men seem to get bored/cave in after a couple of hours while women could keep it going until the sun burns out.

Cam77 · 21/06/2020 13:17

@RandomLondoner
Men half an hour faster swimming the channel according to this
