Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

I'm feeling excited about non-essential shops opening. But am a little nervous about more people in an enclosed indoor space, due to the virus.
I've had earache so am at home today, doing some housework. Have an online painting lesson at midday. Then taking my other half to his hospital appointment.
By the way, I cannot wait until John Lewis near me is opening, later this week!
@pigeon999, what shops are you going to, and what would you like to buy?

I am glad to hear of the economy trying to recover and will be shopping in town, but maintaining social distancing and wearing a face covering/ mask.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 08:47

missy I have been locked down for 14 weeks so yes shopping is the most exciting thing that has happened so far. Damn right!
Kids will ended up with deformed feet if I don't buy new shoes, and the idea of walking around the shops and buying things, saying hello to the all the people we know that work there again. Yes I can not wait!!

For me this is just the very start, once the restaurants are open we will be there and all the rest. I could be run over tomorrow I don't want to sacrifice my life any longer, and it will be great for the DC they need some sense of normality again. The 14 week lockdown hamster wheel I have been on is going in the bin.

(at least until the second wave)

Cleaning
Staying at home

Dd has gone clothes shopping though.

recycledteenager24 · 15/06/2020 08:49

not shopping that's a dead cert, malls are my most hated thing ever, and not keen on shopping full stop.

Bertucci · 15/06/2020 08:50

I’m wfh as I have been since March.

Shopping is not a good experience with the restrictions imo. I have no interest in queuing outside, I’m not that desperate. So I’ll be avoiding shops for now and continuing to shop online.

hopingtobedally · 15/06/2020 08:50

Hmmyou seriously cannot be this naive?
Cases are so low due to the fact people haven't been cramming needlessly into shopping malls

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 08:50

Someone really should have told me that it's National Piss On The Op's Cornflakes Day. I almost missed out

I perhaps should have added the prefix anti dementors desmond Grin

Today I have volunteer job for someone who is shielding & am WFH bc I'm still locked out of office. Will probably get DC out for a walk since I smashed my thumb & cycling is not fun right now. May nag DS to do some reading.

I am working without contract bc employer is in financial crisis & the only advertised jobs are care work at which I would suck. I don't do recreational shopping normally, never mind when I have no income & there are weird rules & you can't try stuff on. I'm stuck at home, so I can wear mostly rags.

stuck at home has made me redecorate so I need to buy masking tape. Hope Q isn't ridiculous for that

I may buy dental repair kit to patch broken filling bc my dentist still isn't drilling.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 08:51

We are based in England yes, and no cases.

I still don’t understand how you can claim the country is virus free? When there’s around 10,000 + new infections a week. Confused

unicornparty · 15/06/2020 08:52

I'm working at home, same as every weekday. I hate shopping so won't be going to a shop anytime soon. You can't try anything on so no different to buying online which is much less stressful.

U2HasTheEdge · 15/06/2020 08:52

Cooped up in my room working.

Just waved off my year 6 who is going back to school today.

I am on A/L next week so will go into the city centre then. I don't do queues very well, so I can't see me going into any shops, but I like the idea of walking through the city and seeing a bit of life. Will probably get a coffee or something.

Staying home and working.
For me it's a work day.
Pupils are already starting to use the home learning this morning so I've done some feedback already from the comfort of bed and now I'm about to get up and work downstairs.

Dh is working this morning, again from home, though he had taken a half day holiday to play golf with his brother and a friend.

Teen Dd is meeting some friends in the park for a socially distanced meet up. They will grab take away from a local place to have dinner in the park too I think.

RedskyAtnight · 15/06/2020 08:53

Staying alert

:)

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/06/2020 08:53

You’re going to get a kicking on here, @pigeon999, from the “Things will never be normal again, how could you be so disrespectful, I will never allow my family to leave the house before 2024” brigade.

But YANBU to enjoy some semblance of normality or to do something you enjoy. Crack on and ignore the doom-mongers.

FatalSecrets · 15/06/2020 08:53

We are based in England yes, and no cases

Does your county have hard borders?! Grin

GinDrinker00 · 15/06/2020 08:54

Oops. 😂 County I see. Well don’t forget those who don’t show symptoms I doubt your county is virus free.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 08:55

Would you prefer it if I let my children walked around shoeless? Okay, cool if that rocks your boat, but I will take my chances and buy shoes that fit Grin

Bfriend is flying out to Athens next week, so I wouldn't say I was the most outrageous in the flock, but I am definitely working on it though!!!! Jeez we might even have our own family rave in the garden later complete with disco lights and a BBQ, socially distant of course.

My neighbour works in the hospital, he told mr yesterday that the numbers being admitted are back up and not to start going out like some people are.
Also my friend who's a nurse in a different hospital has been updating via facebook that it's still not safe to go out and about. I fully trust their advice.
But I'm glad some people are happy to go out and about..we're all adults here, do what you think is best and what makes you happy, I've been fine in lockdown as an introvert but I know lots were struggling.

Bluesheep8 · 15/06/2020 08:56

Chances of us catching CoVid? Zero!

Did I really just read this???

Onlyherefortheconspiracies · 15/06/2020 08:56

Enjoy OP I can't wait to go to a beer garden if we're allowed on Friday (Scotland) but won't be making a thread about it after these reactions Grin

Acrasia · 15/06/2020 08:57

If your DC are too small to be left outside a shop on their own, I would probably give the shoe shop a call before you go. A friend of mine works in a shop and they have a max 2 person from the same household rule. I don’t know if that is a universal rule for shops opening, or just her shop.

Purpleandteal · 15/06/2020 08:57

In going to TK Maxx after lunch hooray!
