Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

Much as I would love to go back to the shops, wild horses wouldn't drag me there on the first week 😂😂

TheABC · 15/06/2020 08:30

I may go when it calms down (Facemasks ready!). The queues put me off much more than the change of catching Covid-19. I wish we could find a sensible way to re open playgrounds.

00100001 · 15/06/2020 08:30

@pigeon999

fatal I doubt we will see queues if this thread is anything to go by. We are having icecream too. My dc need new shoes and we need to buy birthday cards. We have had no infections at all here for 18 days so feeling very positive.
I think you will find there are HUGE queues... Just look at what's happened with B&Q, McDonald's, KFC etc.

I'm going to wait just so I don't have to queue for an hour to get into John Lewis!

bigbluebus · 15/06/2020 08:31

I certainly won't be rushing to get to the shops just because I can. I have been in a couple of shops over the last few weeks to buy things i needed but certainly won't be going just for a look ti see what i might like to buy. I appreciate that businesses need our money but I won't be getting killed in the rush.

rooarsome · 15/06/2020 08:31

Taking my phone to the apple store to get repaired. The screen smashed the day after the shops closed.

Itswineoclocksomewhere · 15/06/2020 08:31

Going to work in about an hour, 29 weeks pregnant and worrying about how busy the bus is now going to be! It's the only way I can currently get there and no option to work from home Sad

GinDrinker00 · 15/06/2020 08:31

Staying home and looking after my kids because lockdown isn’t over till the schools are open!
Ridiculous how primark is open yet the schools aren’t.

drspouse · 15/06/2020 08:31

Working at home while trying to get my DS to do some school work. His school isn't open to him on Mondays despite him having an EHCP and DH being a KW because they are trying to get some of the DCs who are struggling even more than him back in for brief sessions.
Mind you, nobody cares about the DCs who have always struggled to attend school, who've not got a suitable school, who have a disability, who've been excluded. It's fine for them not to attend school for weeks on end.

mogloveseggs · 15/06/2020 08:31

Not going here.
Have you seen the queue already for Manchester primark? Shock

Lynda07 · 15/06/2020 08:32

You go to the shops if you want, I'm staying put a bit longer.

00100001 · 15/06/2020 08:32

If my surrounding area is anything to go by.... The play parks are as good as open, people are using them regardless. All keeping their distance etc. But a lot of parents think that if the kids are back at school and playing together, they may as well use the equipment
Starbuggy · 15/06/2020 08:33

Staying at home and working, same as I have for the last 3 months. I’m in a devolved nation where most shops are still closed, but even if I wasn’t I can’t think of much that is less appealing than queuing for hours to get in shops where you can’t try anything on and probably most of the idiots in there think social distancing no longer applies because it’s over innit.

Cattermole · 15/06/2020 08:33

Going to Home Bargains with mum for some absolutely non essential shopping! I know HB's has been open throughout but she has suffered a lot of muscle wastage due to lockdown (she's 80 and lives in a flat, her exercise has been badly limited) so this is a real treat for her.

funinthesun19 · 15/06/2020 08:34

I’ll just be staying at home. Might take the kids for a nice walk. I can’t think of anything worse than going shopping right now.

Parker231 · 15/06/2020 08:34

Working from home - no interest in shopping with the new restrictions. Will stick to online for anything urgently needed.

hopingtobedally · 15/06/2020 08:34

Ironic really are you one of those parents shouting about it not being safe for kids to return to school?

HauntedGoatFart · 15/06/2020 08:34

@scarbados

SAme as I've been doing for weeks - staying home and sewing PPE for hospital staff and carers because you may think it's all over but the virus has other plans.
Yes, you're quite right - clearly the only sensible thing to do is for everyone to stay quietly at home indefinitely. We'll all die sooner, and miserably. And without medical care, because we can no longer pay doctors or buy drugs. But we won't have died of Covid, and that's the important thing.
GinDrinker00 · 15/06/2020 08:35

Wait your taking your kids shopping? Hmm
Says it all doesn’t it when parents take them to the big shopping malls etc. Yet they aren’t even back in school. Angry

snowybean · 15/06/2020 08:35

Today I will be shouting "JUST TAKE ALL MY MONEY" in the shops 😁

NameChangeAgain111 · 15/06/2020 08:36

What are you talking about? Hairdressers and nail salons are definitely still shut.

geojojo · 15/06/2020 08:37

Love the positivity on a Monday morning op!

I don't think ours will look too different as I have two preschoolers with me. We will go for a long walk as our activity. I have booked to go to our local farm for Father's Day on Sunday though which I'm excited about. Also the cafe Nero on our local high street has reopened which has enhanced my quality of life hugely.

Sandybval · 15/06/2020 08:38

Who are you angry at? The government for not reopening schools?

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 15/06/2020 08:38

I hope you have a good shopping trip op but in reality you're probably going to be queuing, a lot!

YewandOak · 15/06/2020 08:38

You go off to the shops,I'm going to stay home and finish painting my bathroom. I'll nip out in a bit to grab some food shopping. But any other sort of shopping leaves me cold, hate shopping at the best of times.

pointythings · 15/06/2020 08:39

I'll be staying home and working. Not going anywhere near shops for some time yet, I don't fancy the queues. I'm glad DD2 is going back to school (Yr 12) because she needs the social contact, but to be fair she is fully up to date with the curriculum and the school has done brilliantly with remote learning.

I really hope there isn't going to be a surge of cases on the back of this.
