Who will be heading to non essential shops/shopping centres tomorrow?

i'd rather chew my arm off, i hate crowds and shopping at the best of times.

Not tomorrow but I will a few days later.

I don’t really see the point, other than it’s the chance to do something different. From everything I hear we’re being encouraged not to browse or use fitting rooms - surely two of the main reasons you’d go to a clothes shop? Otherwise why not browse online to your heart’s content and try things on in the comfort of your own home?

Our little town high street is all dressed and ready to go. Bunting is up, all the small shops ready to open. I am going to support them. We don't have any huge shops though so crowds will be limited.

Not sure it'll be manic tomorrow. Surely some people will be at work and/or home schooling? Lots of people are spending more cautiously too. Many of the over 70s are avoiding shops if possible. Its not like a bank holiday when most people aren't working.

No as we are still shielding. I wonder when I'll go in a shop again. It's very odd.

i don't get the excitement for queuing for ages to get into primark and the like for, it's something different but i do feel sorry for the staff having to deal with the shop floor distancing, there are plenty of selfish idiots who can't work it out in supermarkets and there has been plenty of help with that. as usual it will probably be the entitled 'i've got to be first in the shop' and rules don't apply to me.

I need to get some new clothes for DS and his size seem to be out of stock online, so yes, but I would rather buy online than queue. I wouldn't bother if it was for myself seen as you can't try anything on, but I do hope people who do want to do go and spend money- shops need it. There is a local bits and bobs shop I'll try and pop in to get some toiletries, just because it would be a shame for them to fold.

No. I've got into the habit of wanting less (in terms of clothes, cosmetics etc). I do plan on helping the economy though by buying household stuff like new wardrobes and carpets sooner than I'd planned (as have saved a lot during lockdown).

Nope. Don't need anything and the lockdown showed me I really don't need "stuff". I can't see me returning to afternoons of mooching around shops.

i'm with you time online shop all the way esp. on ebay, good prices and often free p+p,

I want to but won't be going to queue to get into a shop, follow one way systems, not try on and queue to pay etc.

I'll be online until it's a bit more normal.

I have absolutely no desire to go in a shop ever again. I did most shopping online before lockdown and this is the final nail in the coffin for physical attendance.

Husband still shielding and in Scotland shops aren't opening for another couple of weeks here, so won't be going anywhere.
I don't need anything anyway.
I do agree about Primark though. Don't know why they didn't do online shopping. Ditto IKEA.

Nope, rarely went shopping before this tbh, I can get pretty much everything I want online and at big supermarkets (household stuff etc).
Can you imagine the hordes of bored (understandably) teens thronging the aisles of Primark by 10am tomorrow.

Absolutely not. I love mooching and browsing in the shops but not like this. I’d rather continue to shop online, drink coffee in my garden and listen to the birds until this improve. The thought of queuing for ages, then rushing around the shop feeling guilty that you’re holding up other people outside, you must not touch anything, you have follow a one way system, constantly keep 2 metres away from people. Just no. Can’t even go for a coffee and sit down afterwards. Not to mention no public loos open and with most cafes/restaurants shut, there will be no where to go. Forget it. I’d rather browse online in bed and stroke one of my six pussies.

Even pre-covid, shopping in actual shops was a bit of a pita. Travelling to the town, queuing and paying to park, trekking around shops that may or may not have anything that I want to buy or anything in the right size.

I can't imagine it will be a very relaxing experience with the addition of all the distancing, the "don't touch", the sanitising and the lack of changing rooms. People are bound to be put off and will go online instead.

I think that, unfortunately, a lot of high street retailers may have folded by the end of the year.

I discovered yesterday that Matalan was open and has been for a while. Not sure how it managed that as surely comes under category of 'non-essential' shop. Not complaining though! No queue to get in, very relaxed, people browsing, touching clothes, picking stuff up, etc. It made me feel relatively normal, just for a few minutes (and I managed to pick up some knickers and vest tops I needed desperately!)

I think I'll avoid the shopping centre for the first few weeks as no doubt there will be a rush which I'll find too stressful. It did give me a bit of hope though that once things settle down, shopping for clothes could become a possibility again. I've bought some stuff online, but its often different to how you think it'll be when it arrives.

It’s always been positioned as a very deliberate move to ensure people keep using the stores - plus they have a huge range with a fast turnover, meaning their website would be twice as complex to run as some retailers’ sites.

Of course, that tends to go out of the window in a global pandemic, but to be fair very few businesses planned for that.

No way will I be going shopping for a while. Online is much easier and if I can't browse or try stuff on there is no point. I've been using Shein instead of Primark and prefer it.
