White bedding is the best

I never thought so.
I would buy colourful bedding with patterns.
Then one day I needed an unusual size to fit the new duvet and the only one in the shop was white.
Good quality cotton, but white.
I bought it thinking well this sucks.
Oh was I wrong.
I washed it yesterday and dried it in the sun and this morning I feel in heaven.
Plus the room looks bigger.
If I didn’t have a small baby and no time I would have ironed it. Oh my, imagine it all steam ironed 😍😍😍

Nope, I have unicorns 🦄 Grin

I only ever buy white bedlinen for our bed. Occasionally my head has been turned by gloriously figured sets from Dorma but I know that I would get fed up of them quickly.
I tend towards textured cotton (no need to iron unless you are a perfectionist); M&S make a good selection - waffle, seersucker, matelasse etc.
My favourite is their cut square duvet set. www.marksandspencer.com/cut-square-cotton-bedding-set/p/hbp60150630?color=WHITE
Whiteness is maintained by using Glowhite. Occasional tea stains bleached away in the sunshine.

I genuinely ONLY sleep in white bedding! I worry that other colours will mask or hide stains! I LOVE crisp white bedding :)

Terralee · 14/06/2020 12:08

No. You need patterns & bright colours! Like mine from Primark!!
Decorated with a cat.

Not when you have muddy dogs on the bed. Believe me I need to hide the stains. Grin

Linguaphile · 14/06/2020 12:19

Crisp, soft white bedding is certainly one of the simple joys of life.

Antipodeancousin · 14/06/2020 12:24

I love your white bedding but I’m a slovenly housekeeper and prefer to leave my tea stained bedding in situation until I’m quite ready to wash it. White is not forgiving enough for me!

Thanks @Fluffycloudland77 for raising awareness of animal testing and cleaning products

Bed linen, I like to swap it around. Anything from white, to vibrant William Morris. I've plain curtains so anything works. Above all, I HATE clashing colours and patterns with bed linen and curtains.

In my household, white beds are for dry weather. Muddy paw prints from the cats are the worst to get off.

nokidshere · 14/06/2020 12:38

My bedroom is all white. White bedding, white walls/ceiling, white floor, white furniture, white light, no curtains. There is some colour on the inside of the window frame but that's it. It's sooo calming.

Everyone else in the house has plenty of colour but I love my white room/bedding.

VenusClapTrap · 14/06/2020 13:37

Thanks for the info @Fluffycloudland77. I always use cruelty free cosmetics/shampoo etc so I don’t know why cleaning products have been off my radar. No more Vanish here.

Destroyedpeople · 14/06/2020 13:40

Yes I love white with those white patterns or embroidery on...so stylish. ..

VenusClapTrap · 14/06/2020 13:41

I think I’ve spent too much time in business hotels (for work) for white bedding to hold much magic for me. I love a beautiful print from the Designer’s Guild or similar.

StCharlotte · 14/06/2020 18:26

Ecover and method got bought by companies who test.

That's disappointing.

Elledouble · 14/06/2020 18:36

I love mine! It feels so grown up. I’m going to get my bedroom redecorated in grey and the white will look terrific! My white bedding has even survived my son’s horrific nosebleeds, I thought it would be ruined!

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 14/06/2020 18:50

Plain white is not practical re spills/marks etc so it's a YABU from me.

Although actually when I think about it, if it's what you like best, of course YANBUBlush

notheragain4 · 14/06/2020 18:58

I'm amazed how many people spill things on their beds! I get fake tan on mine but it washes straight out (and is inside so isn't visible if it isn't a wash day!)

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/06/2020 19:07

Dh spills things. There’s nothing wrong with he just leaves his cup out half filled with cold tea.

HavelockVetinari · 14/06/2020 19:08

Agreed. White waffle pattern so it never needs ironing!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 14/06/2020 19:11

Nope, I can't think of much positive to say about white bedding. Mine is dark shades of red, burgundy, plum and pink.

I like everything in the house to be dark. And vaguely Satanic Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/06/2020 19:39

Very nice, unless you have a black 🐶and a black and white 😸who like joining you on the bed on weekend mornings.

I did once buy a v nice white, pure cotton duvet cover for a guest bedroom, but oh, dear, it really did need a good steam iron.
I eventually gave it to a dd who never irons anything, whether it needs it or not.

Bluntness100 · 14/06/2020 19:46

I changed all our bed linen to white years ago. It’s fab as you can mix and match sets because basically it all matches and if a bit goes done Ie a pillow case or sheet it’s a doddle to replace just that bit, so cost effective.

I wash on forty degrees with a scoop of vanish oxy white and never had an issue with yellowing.

I also don’t iron them, because quite frankly just like any other colour or pattern they are creased after a nigh sleeping in them. Just hang them to dry and then fold nicely it’s fine.

Kenworthington · 14/06/2020 20:00

I love all white bedding but I also have a gigantic black cat who enjoys lying on the white bedding as soon as I put it on. Black furry white bedding is not so lovely

dudsville · 14/06/2020 20:03

We stay in a lot of nice accommodation. I alwsys hate the tired white bedding. "Hotel chic" is cold.

eatyourcake · 14/06/2020 20:09

I have two black cats who sleep on the bed with us, so no, white bedding is not the best. Grin

Hopingtobeamum · 14/06/2020 20:12

I'm a big fan of M&S Egyptian cotton bedding. It's fabulous but has to be ironed. I love that crisp clean feeling when I get into a newly made bed 🙌🏼🙌🏼
