White bedding is the best

I never thought so.
I would buy colourful bedding with patterns.
Then one day I needed an unusual size to fit the new duvet and the only one in the shop was white.
Good quality cotton, but white.
I bought it thinking well this sucks.
Oh was I wrong.
I washed it yesterday and dried it in the sun and this morning I feel in heaven.
Plus the room looks bigger.
If I didn’t have a small baby and no time I would have ironed it. Oh my, imagine it all steam ironed 😍😍😍

I always get makeup on my bedding so can't have white ☹️ but I agree it is the best especially for hotel/holiday vibes...

lidoshuffle · 14/06/2020 08:29

Even though you know it's only you/partner that's been in the bed, white is always reassuringly pristine.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/06/2020 08:32

Astonish/own brand laundry bleach works too but they don’t test them on animals.

Vanish, anything owned by procter and gamble, Unilever etc is tested including toxicity tests where they force feed it until the animal dies & skin tests where they lacerate the skin and apply the product to the bleeding wound. They aren’t wasting money on anaesthetics either.

I never have a problem with dull whites.

We alternate between a white set and a patterned set. As a lockdown present (since we had to cancel the builders and I was so looking forward to refurbishing our room) DH bought a set of white bamboo bedlinen. It doesn't do that crisp hotel feeling but by God it's soft and silky.

Hmpher · 14/06/2020 08:35

Yes, I agree. I only ever buy white bedding. White linen is my favourite. I love it. I don’t iron it, I like the lived in crumpled look and they just get softer and softer. I don’t mind colour on cushions or throws or the second lot of pillows, but the main functional bits of bedding have to be white.

TheFaerieQueene · 14/06/2020 08:35

I love white bedding. Last night I went online and bought some white bedspreads from Zara to add to my collection.

Parker231 · 14/06/2020 08:35

White bedding is lovely but not if it needs ironing.

StarScream22 · 14/06/2020 08:36

Noooo. I only have all black bedding.

Wannabegreenfingers · 14/06/2020 08:36

Bloody love mine, not boring at all. Bright fresh and makes the room feel bigger

Jellycatfox · 14/06/2020 08:36

Thank @DoilooklikeatouristGrin
So why do my sheets stay white and crisp but not my clothes?
Is this the quality/ composition? Witchcraft?

I love how passionate people feel about this Smile

Had white for 20 years but not when kids were babies!

MyEnormousTurnip · 14/06/2020 08:45

It’s a nice idea but i can just imagine what white bedding would look like in this house with a lazy black cat claiming every bed as her own SadGrin

Howgreenwasmyvalley · 14/06/2020 08:47

I have 3 sets of white bedding and I iron them. I put a scoop of washing soda in with the detergent, it's cheap and keeps them white.

LakieLady · 14/06/2020 08:48

Napisan is also fantastic for whites, and you need less of it than Vanish.

I don't have white bedding though, I spill tea and drop Marmitey toast and sometimes eat chocolate in bed. Plus the dog sleeps on the bed, and I've never managed to train her to wipe her paws when she comes in through the dog flap.

namesnamesnamesnames · 14/06/2020 08:48

I'm jealous you have eczema but can have white bedding. I long for the day!

Oh no! I didn’t know this and just looked up what P&G sell. I now need to find new products...
LynetteScavo · 14/06/2020 09:01

I only have white bedding. I get the highest thread count possible. Who knew it could make such a difference? DH actually thought I'd bought a new duvet the first time I upgraded the duvet cover. I throw a sachet of GloWhite in the machine every few washes to keep them totally white.

I actually cringe when colleagues talk about their purple duvet covers and bedspreads etc.

KellyHall · 14/06/2020 09:03

I have lots of colourful sets that I love. I have one expensive, good quality white set that I put on once in a while to pretend I'm on holiday!

AdalindMeisner · 14/06/2020 09:04

I think I need to get white bedding. I long for a grown up calming bedroom now, although it is full of clutter and DH dark wood stuff which I find really depressing. (I find myself shifting to more 'grown up' choices such as I have bought glass mixing bowls rather than another set of bright plastic stacking ones (dd1 and dd2 nicked the last lot to mix cocoa fibre for snails, and make mud potions 🙈)

dottiedodah · 14/06/2020 09:17

I also use a nice big scoop of Vanish to my wash too! Adore white bedding ,so clean and crisp looking .pine wardrobes, pale carpet looks great !

notheragain4 · 14/06/2020 09:20

Yes I love white bedding. I have a rather colourful blue and yellow throw but when we move bedding will be all white, and everything in the room except green plants. The rest of the house won't be, but there's something really calming about a white bedroom without too much going on.

notheragain4 · 14/06/2020 09:21

I keep it white just by making sure we wash it by itself.

HellSmith · 14/06/2020 09:23

We had that years ago, I don’t wanna go back to it as it’s too clinical.
