Just tried to have a hypothetical lighthearted conversation with dh and ffs he's getting stressed out. Its always it too early or too tired for this convo! Shall I book an appoint with his highness??! It'd be nice to just have a conversation different to the usual monotonous crap! Urgh. Please tell me that I'm not the only one who struggles to get a chit chat convo out of their partners.

I think that, for me, connecting at a deep level is about conversation. Conversation IS the relationship, if that makes any sense?

However, your relationship (and you!) sound really lovely. I think my question was more geared towards the people who didn’t seem to talk to their partners at all (one poster said that they didn’t talk because they didn’t agree on anything and all topics are contentious - I just didn’t get that). That’s clearly not your situation at all, but thanks very much for taking the time to reply. It was really interesting.
