I don’t normally but I have a coldsore so think I’ll wear one tomorrow, hopefully I won’t get any passive aggressive comments from other shoppers that have been reported here.

Yep. Queued outside Sainsbury's today, guy behind me said ' I thought this had all gone away' and then went on to say he reckoned there was something even worse than coronavirus coming to get us after this. He wasn't keeping within the social distance rules, so I am glad I had the mask on. The guy is a known crack user in the area, and I was getting a bit twitchy when he came closer. He also remarked on a man nearby, who had an artificial leg, saying 'ooh bionic leg'. Cringeworthy.

@DanielleHirondelle
Will give that a try as well.Thankyou

calamityjam · 13/06/2020 01:14

Always. My dd has quite severe asthma and I do everything I can to reduce the risk of her getting Covid. I also carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go and I have a bottle of spray sanitizer in the car to do the steering wheel etc. She is staying at home unless she comes for a quiet walk with me up the road to the moors or the woods.

makingmiracles · 13/06/2020 01:27

I haven’t as yet. At work I have to wear one for 7-9hrs with a 15min break to take it off and I wear glasses, it’s not pleasant, especially the past few weeks when it was 28c weatherSad

Im thinking about buying some for shopping in case it becomes mandatory and everyone rushes to buy them and they can’t be found anywhere again, im put off of the fabric ones as I would assume they are even more of a problem steaming up glasses due to being thicker and I’m blind as a bat without them.

PhilCornwall1 · 13/06/2020 04:57

Nope, don't wear one and not going to any time soon either.

I don't think anything about people who wear them, totally understand if they feel more comfortable wearing one, but the wearers who judge the people that don't, need to give it a rest.

whenwillthemadnessend · 13/06/2020 07:00

Yes

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 13/06/2020 07:05

I wear a mask inside the supermarket. I don't judge people for not wearing them and don't care what others think about my wearing it.

understandmenow · 13/06/2020 07:06

Nope

Wecandothis99 · 13/06/2020 07:12

Yes, to protect others from me in case I have it and don't know and I do like it when others I get close to (ie at hospital appointments or cashiers do too). I understand why people don't though and I wish some of those who judge us that do would shut up! Not aimed at anyone here, but wish we could all leave us to cope with this how we see fit

user8558 · 13/06/2020 07:21

They're a courtesy to others these masks. It's not about protecting yourself it's about protecting those around you.

If I'm feeling charitable I assume there's just a very good reason they're not wearing one.

octobersky19 · 13/06/2020 07:23

I haven't been wearing one but our local little shop just got some decent ones in stock so I'll be a few. I'm pretty much shielding because I'm pregnant and don't really go out much anyway

SteelyPanther · 13/06/2020 07:24

No.

Hyperion100 · 13/06/2020 07:26

Yep. My partner is shielding.

I'd day 30 to 50% of people I see on my high street in East London are wearing them.

Hollyhead · 13/06/2020 07:27

No but I shop when it’s very quiet, I would when busier out of consideration for others.

LolaSmiles · 13/06/2020 07:28

I do.

I normally shop at 2 supermarkets. One of my usual supermarkets seem to be full of idiots who ignore the 2m markers, squeeze past people, and reach over others to get what they want. The other people follow social distancing and a reasonable number wear masks, though they are a minority. I've swapped my whole shop to the second supermarket until the Covid risk reduces.

WhatInFreshHell · 13/06/2020 07:29

I don't wear one, however I have no problem with other people wearing them if it makes them feel safer.

Joans3rddaughter · 13/06/2020 07:30

No.
I was in the supermarket yesterday, saw a woman wearing a mask blowing her nose and using a tissue into the mask! Then the mask came down, then up again, then down again......
Most people I see wearing masks cannot stop touching them, repositioning them, up, down. It drives me nuts. Why would anybody wear a mask when they are alone inside a car?

Raaaa · 13/06/2020 07:33

No I don't I hate the restriction. Had to go to the doctors and they said face coverings were mandatory and wore a scarf which was bad enough

BeeB29 · 13/06/2020 07:35

Nope. Don’t see many people in them either. I think the not wearing them outweighs the wearing them. It’s a a personal decision of course. Most of the people I’ve seen wear them in a shop are the younger generation. I thought it would been the opposite!

Purpleartichoke · 13/06/2020 07:35

Every time I go out. It helps keep other people safe and I’m not an inconsiderate person.

DanielleHirondelle · 13/06/2020 07:41

@WhatInFreshHell
Other people wearing masks don't do it to protect themselves but others. That's the point.
(understanding of course there will be good reasons for some people not to be able to do so).

HelloCanYouHearMe · 13/06/2020 07:41

I wear one when I go to the supermarket as the 2m rule appears to mean diddley squat in my local...

DS(5) wears one too and i've been called out as being cruel for making him wear one (despite the face that he wants to wear one because he says it makes him look like a superhero)

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 13/06/2020 07:43

I do. I own about 10 now as I wear them to and from school and when I go to the shops. My favourite one is where I look like a lion! The kids in my bubble think it is great and it is actually really comfortable to wear. I wear and wash one a day at the moment.

ooooohbetty · 13/06/2020 08:13

No

Mnthrowaway20202 · 13/06/2020 08:21

I do most of the time but I’m not as stringent in Boots/Superdrug.

Sometimes I feel like others are judging me, the first time I wore one this random woman starting tutting and pointing at me! But the only person who commented was some conspiracy theorist drunk who was telling me how pretty I was (with the mask on) and telling me how I need fresh air & this is all “fake”.

@Joans3rddaughter

Why do you care if I reposition my mask? I’m wearing it to protect you, not me. But at the same time I’m not going to let the mask rise up & cut into my eyeballs am I? Common sense.
