How much difference will 2 stones make?

Can I just ask you for your opinion - how much of a difference will a 2 stone weight loss make?

I’m 11 stones and want to get to 9 stones.

A massive difference for me because in 5 ft 2. I'm 3 stone overweight. I'm currently doing the 5:2 diet (started a few weeks ago). It's been really simple to follow. There is a current and supportive thread, running on here.

Dunkingthebiscuits · 10/06/2020 10:01

I’m just slightly taller than you at 5’4 a couple of years ago I was a size 16, I lost 2 stone 3lbs and I only went down to a size 14. I didn’t see a difference in myself and I wish I had taken pictures. I’ve put a stone back on and I’m back up to a 14/16. I’ve taken pictures and I’m det4rmined to lose at least 3 stone this time.

Good luck xx

iwilltaketwoplease · 10/06/2020 10:55

A big difference

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 10/06/2020 10:57

You will be amazed at the difference OP!

Pineapples1980 · 10/06/2020 11:01

I’m also 5 foot 3 and lost weight, going from 10 stone 10 to 9 stone and went from a 12 to an 8. Best thing I ever did.

Noconceptofnormal · 10/06/2020 11:02

Yes a big difference, I'm 5'1" and after having a baby s few months ago I'm 10 and a half stone and look dreadful. 2 stone less is my weight before kids where I look fine (I looked amazing at 7 and a half stone but that was 10 years ago now so I'm not sure that will happen again)!

So 2 stone is what I need to lose, I wish there, was a quicker and easier way of doing it, I feel demotivated as well after hitting a plateau.

Nicolanomore24 · 10/06/2020 11:14

It will make a massive difference, especially as you are quite short.

I’ve recently lost just over a stone and it is very noticeable. I’ve went from a size 12 being tight to a 10 being roomy.

OscarWildesCat · 10/06/2020 18:48

I’m glad I opened this thread, I’m currently using MFP and HIIT workouts in an effort to lose 2 stone but have been feeling a bit demotivated last couple of days. In my experience, I’m 5ft 5”, currently a tight 16 at 13.5st (I was 14st) but even at 2 stone lighter, never went below a 14 which always makes me feel a bit like what’s the point. I have wide hips and a big bust though. I’m going to keep going and see where I get to, I figure it can only be better for me.

Pinkblueberry · 10/06/2020 18:50

A lot. I think a stone is generally a dress size.

PowerslidePanda · 10/06/2020 23:00

I'm also currently losing weight and feeling boosted by this thread! 20 lb down, 10 to go, but it's become a slog - especially as the scales haven't moved lately. This thread has helped convince me it'll be worth it!

PickAChew · 10/06/2020 23:02

A couple of sizes and, providing you lose it sustainably, a shitload more energy.

wowfudge · 10/06/2020 23:03

Panda that's exactly where I am although I have weighed myself in over a week. Have you taken your measurements? I found that sometimes when weighed loss slowed a bit my measurements actually reduced.

UrbanDoughnut · 10/06/2020 23:05

I'm not sure. At your stats, you'll be feeling and looking great for sure

As for me... I'm 5 ft 4, and I was 15 stone 5lbs in February. I'm now 12 stone 11 lbs so I've lost 2 and a half stone. I feel better but I can't really see a huge difference tbh. My coat for example, is a size 16 and that's too big now but I live in Hush clothing and believe me, they're very forgiving! So all my harem pants in a size M still fit fine! Which is disappointing!

Anyway I've got 2 more stone to go so maybe I'll get lucky and really see a difference then!

Colom · 10/06/2020 23:07

An enormous difference! In my case anyway. I'm 5 2" and it's the difference from being slim and attractive or fat and quite hideous. Sadly I currently fall into the latter.

Two stone is exactly what I need to shift to get back to my normal 9 stone but since DC2 it just wont go away Sad. Every day I dream of being back there! Good luck OP hope you're more successful than I've been

PickAChew · 10/06/2020 23:29

I'm 50 and 5'4 at last measurement and fluctuate around bmi25. At start of lockdown I lost a couple of pounds from 10st4 to 10st2 and began to get a waist.

Have since plated to 10st8 anf look 6 months pregnant.

PickAChew · 10/06/2020 23:30

Plated? Far from it. Bloated.

RunSoICanEatCheese · 10/06/2020 23:56

I went from 13 stone to 11 (now 10) and I’m unfortunately not as slim as I thought I would be. Went from size 16 clothing feeling tight to size 14 being a tiny bit loose. So nothing phenomenal. I’m disappointed but I’m going to keep going because, at 5ft 4, I need another stone off.

PumpkinP · 10/06/2020 23:59

I’m amazed people are saying it’s a stone per dress size? I’ve lost 3 stone and have only lost 1 dress size and I’m 5ft 4!

CuppaZa · 11/06/2020 00:03

General rule of thumb is a stone per dress size (I stand to be corrected though).
Two stone on me is two dress sizes

PickAChew · 11/06/2020 00:58

Yes, 10 stone is a 12 to loose 14 for me.

OscarWildesCat · 11/06/2020 08:29

I’ve never found the stone per dress size to be true either, I’ve fluctuated about 3 stone up and down over the last ten years and never gone below a size 14, largest been a tight 16, I’m 5ft 5.

PowerslidePanda · 11/06/2020 08:31

@wowfudge - Ooh, someone in the same boat! No, I wish I'd thought to take my measurements at the start. I definitely look better than I did, but my problem areas (post c section tummy. bingo wings) are still problem areas!

burdog · 11/06/2020 08:35

At 14 stone 10 I was a solid 20 with a 38 inch waist. At 12 stone 10 I was a 16 with a 33 inch waist. It makes a massive difference. If you're smaller, the difference will be even bigger because the difference between sizes gets bigger the bigger you are. In Next, I think, there's a 3 inch difference between 20 and 18, but 1-2 inch between the other sizes.

evilharpy · 11/06/2020 08:39

I'm 5' 6" and have recently gained about a stone and a half - partly because injury stopped me exercising for a couple of months and partly because at the start of lockdown I just went a bit mad on the pringles and other assorted crap. I was a smallish 10 and have gone up to a 12 and am really not feeling good about it.

So about a dress size and a half I guess, for a stone and a half, but there are also bits that now wobble that don't usually, and a spare chin that isn't usually there. I'd say it makes quite a big difference.

I've now knocked the crappy food on the head (I've had my fill of it and don't even want it anymore now) and am exercising again so hopefully it'll drop back off fairly quickly.

wowfudge · 11/06/2020 08:42

@PowerslidePanda Take your measurements now: neck, right arm, bust, waist, tummy, hips and right thigh. It's another thing to spur you on. It's really good to be able to see progress.

I hated my arms and have been weight training since January. They're almost my best bit now - I would be really happy to wear sleeveless clothes whereas I used to cover up and want to be invisible. I've treated myself to new gym kit instead of the shapeless old t-shirts. My tummy is smaller than it was, but it's slower to shift the flab there. I wish I had measured it and not just my waist! It's definitely smaller though.
