I have a diary invite from my bosses boss and HR. The title of the invite is org review. So doesn’t look good?

Or it may be to do with updating my HR file as I have to have nhs treatment for something that I didn’t tell them about when I joined the company 2 years ago. It’s just psychology once a week.

KatherineJaneway · 09/06/2020 10:09

They wouldn't tell you in advance if it was about redundancy.

NewName2020 · 09/06/2020 10:09

It's really shitty how vague they're being OP. When did they first tell you about the meeting?

Good luck for 11

vanillandhoney · 09/06/2020 10:09

Surely he can't tell you that before the meeting in case word gets out to other people?

I hope it goes okay. Restructuring doesn't necessarily mean redundancy. Good luck!

Trevsadick · 09/06/2020 10:11

The person holding the meeting will also not tell me.... I said I’m just trying to prepare and ask the union.

If its redundancies, they can't.

They have a process.

If its redundancies, this is the first meeting to tell you redundancies are on the table.

You won't be made redundant in this meeting.

They have to follow the process, the same for everyone.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 10:11

It’s not your thread @seasonfinale and you are being judgmental. I answer questions which I feel I can comfortably answer. I also don’t need to divulge lots of info, same as people don’t need to post on my thread

OP posts:
heartsonacake · 09/06/2020 10:14

I also agree with SeasonFinale. If you go into the meeting with this attitude you may as well quit on the spot, particularly if, as it appears, you already have a reputation for being difficult.

Maighdeann · 09/06/2020 10:15

I hope it's not for redundancy OP. Good luck 👍

isitspringyet23 · 09/06/2020 10:16

Hope ur meeting goes well xx

Womencanlift · 09/06/2020 10:35

What is and is not allowed to be communicated around redundancy is very tightly regulated. There will of course be people who will know before you and cannot tell you. They will not be saying nothing to be awkward it’s because they legally can’t do it

notalwaysalondoner · 09/06/2020 10:50

If it’s an organisation restructure they will be following the regulations which means they first need to inform you your job is at risk, normally done by your boss with an HR rep present. This isn’t personal, at this point they’ll be doing these meetings with everyone whose job is at risk, regardless of performance. The next step will be to do consultations and assessments to work out who to actually make redundant.

If it’s just a random HR meeting it would be strange to call it this. I think at this point all you can do is go in assuming your job is at risk but not because of your performance but because of a bigger company restructuring. If it turns out it is a performance/disciplinary matter, take lots of notes, ask lots of questions, don’t be defensive, and call your union straight after.

disappear · 09/06/2020 10:55

Good luck, OP.

elessar · 09/06/2020 11:02

If it's redundancy then they can't give you any information in advance. As others have said, there are very tight processes around it that have to be followed.

Carolduckingbaskin · 09/06/2020 11:11

If you are less than two years in - they don’t actually have to make you redundant. Sadly I don’t think this is going to be good news.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 09/06/2020 11:19

HR bod here. This sounds like they are going to announce redundancies. If the meeting is titled 'organisational review' then that's a big clue. Usually when we announce redundancies (where I work) we don't even give any clues as to what the meeting is about, to avoid worrying people. Maybe just say something vague like 'business update'. You don't want the chinese whispers to start.

This meeting will probably be just to announce, you will then be invited to a formal consultation meeting where you can bring a rep etc (strictly speaking not a legal entitlement, but ACAS advised).

Although as a PP has said, with less than 2 years service they could skip that step - not great practice but so long as no discrimination, not much recourse.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 09/06/2020 11:22

If it’s redundancy they have inform you, their is a very strict and formal process to follow.

I’m not sure him advising you he can’t advise what the meeting is about is a “wow” moment, find out what the meeting is about and then get advise from the union.

How long have you been employed for?

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 09/06/2020 11:23

Can’t there - - - slopes back to bed

Fizzysours · 09/06/2020 11:25

@HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend am not sure... with that username...you should be the spelling police 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fizzysours · 09/06/2020 11:26

Haha ok you were correcting self...#slopesofftohide

mrpumblechook · 09/06/2020 11:28

As many have said it is likely that they are starting redundancies. They may ask for voluntary ones first though.

SailingAwayIntoSunrise · 09/06/2020 11:38

Sorry, but another one who thinks it's notification of redundancies happening.

newusername2009 · 09/06/2020 11:42

Org review would imply it’s an initial meeting to discuss proposed org structure - most likely resulting in redundancies. The initial meeting is often not classed as a formal meeting but a consultation

Muminabun · 09/06/2020 12:28

If you are disabled and in dispute with your boss then hr may have advised an offer of a settlement which they should explain to you in full and allow you to go away and think about and get legal advice which they will pay for. If I were you I would art to think about clearing emails and getting LinkedIn with colleagues. Clearing phone and laptop and just be prepared to leave at short notice with everything you need and want. Sorry op this sounds stressful just be prepared and good luck.

innitlush · 09/06/2020 12:32

Good luck OP

Dinosauraddict · 09/06/2020 12:36

How was it OP?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/06/2020 12:47

I've been following and hoping that it wasn't bad news Flowers
