I have a diary invite from my bosses boss and HR. The title of the invite is org review. So doesn’t look good?

Or it may be to do with updating my HR file as I have to have nhs treatment for something that I didn’t tell them about when I joined the company 2 years ago. It’s just psychology once a week.

@ Trevsadick yeah true. I just wanted to find out about how to prepare so I asked for the union details

sensible to get the union details.

Its good your manager isn't involved, for you and them, if its noted you dont get on.

But I dont think you can blame the manager for keeping his cards close to his chest at this point. Redundancy needs to be done properly. And office politics or people gossiping can often get in the way of that.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 09:26

It’s not a case of “blaming him”.

Hope it goes ok this morning

MerryDeath · 09/06/2020 09:37

i wouldn't be happy about being summoned to something i had no knowledge of. i'd respond with my acceptance to ask how i can prepare/what will be the subject.

CharmingB · 09/06/2020 09:40

Just a thought that it might be to do with furlough. The original scheme ends on 30th June but has been extended to the end of October. However, for an employee to be able to be furloughed until October they must have been furloughed before 30th June. As each furlough period must be for a minimum of 3 weeks the effective cut off for being furloughed is 10th June.

Any doubts about how they're treating you though, do check with ACAS.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 09:43

Thanks. He’s emailed me to ask to accept the meeting and I’ve asked if it’s about redudency, he hasn’t answered

It depends on how good you are are your job. The better you are at it, and all the other boxes ticked like attendance, attitude etc you may be ok. If generally you're a poor performer it's likely you'll be made redundant.

That's a bit unfair. Many people made redundant are not poor performers. Sometimes businesses just have no other option and lose good people.

If people have to reapply with colleagues for fewer roles then yes, performance, attitude etc would come into it.

maddening · 09/06/2020 09:49

Good luck op, hope it is not too bad news

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 09:49

He won’t tell me about it... wow.

Good luck for the meeting, even if it is a meeting for redundancy you can't just ignore it

We've had a restructure, everyone had a meeting with HR and a line manager, regardless of staying or going. The ones staying had the opportunity to ask about if they would have to take on more work etc.

It doesn't necessarily mean it's bad news and even if it is, you'll be ok. Try not to stress too much, I know it's so hard. I've been there lately Thanks

ShadowMane · 09/06/2020 09:53

what time is your meeting?

TerrapinStation · 09/06/2020 09:54

No one can tell you exactly what it's going to be about but unfortunately from what you've posted it doesn't sound positive.

Are you in the UK (sorry not clear as you mentioned Aus above), there are lots of knowledgeable employment posters if you find out you need advice after the meeting

Good luck

Likethebattle · 09/06/2020 09:55

Hope it all goes ok.

KitchenConfidential · 09/06/2020 09:56

I hope the meeting goes ok

Trevsadick · 09/06/2020 09:57

You do blame him. For not telling you.

Who won't answer if its about redundancy?

MuthaClucker · 09/06/2020 09:59

It does sound like restructuring, like pp have said that doesn't necessarily mean redundancy.

Try not to panic about him not telling you anything beforehand, it may be that they have to tell a number of people, it's usual for everyone affected to be given the same information all at the same time.

kissmysass · 09/06/2020 10:01

Have you got two years service?

ShandlersWig · 09/06/2020 10:02

He wont be able to confirm if its redundancy. He either won't know or can't. It's not his fault.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 10:07

The person holding the meeting will also not tell me.... I said I’m just trying to prepare and ask the union.

OP posts:
Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 10:08

@kissmysass not yet but it really doesn’t matter as I’m the only one doing my job and work has been down.

OP posts:
heartsonacake · 09/06/2020 10:08

@Helpmeupset

He won’t tell me about it... wow.
Of course he won’t tell you. Why on earth would you think he would? Confused

He’s your boss, not your friend.

SeasonFinale · 09/06/2020 10:08

Your immediate boss is probably not high enough to.be able to confirm whether it is redundancy or not. You have already stated that they have a higher boss and that boss has an even higher boss. So they truly may not even know.

You have been very aggressive and defensive in all your answers to legitimate questions other posters are asking. You may want to adjust that approach for the meeting.

ChikiTIKI · 09/06/2020 10:09

Say you want a union rep present so will have to reschedule the meeting.
