I have a diary invite from my bosses boss and HR. The title of the invite is org review. So doesn’t look good?

Or it may be to do with updating my HR file as I have to have nhs treatment for something that I didn’t tell them about when I joined the company 2 years ago. It’s just psychology once a week.

It does sound like redundancy rather than you being in trouble OP.

Best of luck to you.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 07:59

@dontdisturbmenow the name of the meeting is org structure so I think it’s redudencies

OP posts:
fartyface · 09/06/2020 08:01

I think redundancy too

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 08:01

Oh well :(

OP so sorry you are having to have a sleepless night over this -it is very unfair to drop this on you with. O further info. I would have been inclined to ask my boss about it. I am guessing 'consulting' for redundancy as that exactly what happened to me when I was made redundant. HR and boss's boss. (My immediate boss was also made redundant!)

quietheart · 09/06/2020 08:05

Not really sure how you expect a bunch of strangers to comment on so little information and then when one person attempts to summarise it you just reply nope, not how it works.

Even though it was you brought up

Why don't you just contact the person who sent the invite and ask for clarification? Why would you go into a meeting and let yourself be ambushed and unprepared?

Nonagoninfinity · 09/06/2020 08:06

It sounds like an informal 'heads up' meeting that your role may be 'at risk of redundancy'. If it's what I think it is they'll show you their proposals for a new org structure and invite you to a formal redundancy consultation meeting. The next formal meeting will be when you can bring a companion.

Sorry you are (potentially) going through this. I may of course be completely wrong but it's a very familiar sounding approach...

Best of luck for today.

ShandlersWig · 09/06/2020 08:07

Hey, it is what it is. What time is the meeting?
Take a pen and paper and make notes. Ask for any follow up in writing. If it is redundancy, which is shit to be fair, you will get another job. If they are moving yiu to another boss, thats a positive.
It depends on how good you are are your job. The better you are at it, and all the other boxes ticked like attendance, attitude etc you may be ok. If generally you're a poor performer it's likely you'll be made redundant.

AnotherBoredOne · 09/06/2020 08:09

Hope it goes ok OP.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 08:11

@quietheart they could have explained it in the invite they sent yesterday afternoon.

@shandlerswig it’s this morning and I don’t think I’ll get another chance in the company. I will see.

It could be to do with your mental health.

If you attend an appointment every week during work time, they may not be able to accommodate that. You are essentially working less than the hours they expect you to, every week.

It maybe that that they are looking at changing your job role, hours, contract to accommodate this.

But i don't think redundancies is a definite possibility.

Medievalist · 09/06/2020 08:13

Agree with quietheart. Is it too late to ask for some clarification about the nature of the meeting so you can be properly prepared?

FlappyFish · 09/06/2020 08:14

Yep. Organisational Review is redundancy. Whether to start collective or individual. (I’m HR and have called them this for years. Normally put in last minute to lessen the panic)

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 08:27

Thanks @FlappyFish

Going forward what do I need to do?

OP posts:
pinksunday · 09/06/2020 08:28

Org Review doesn't always mean redundancy though. We do structures all the time and don't always make people redundant. Sometimes the review is about making the team more effective/reacting to changes over time. Also HR.

OP - do HR generally attend meetings at your workplace? We tend to attend formal meetings.

ShadowMane · 09/06/2020 08:34

hope it goes ok this morning @Helpmeupset

Star81 · 09/06/2020 08:35

Good luck today. Go in with an open mind though as it might be good news not bad. Don’t go in on the defensive straight away as. This will not look too good for you.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 08:37

There has been org changes and literally we just get told a few days/it’s not biggie.

It will be redudeency.

OP posts:
Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 08:40

@pinksunday no never. Especially as remotely.

OP posts:
FelicityPike · 09/06/2020 08:49

Oh fingers crossed for you, let us know when you can.

FlappyFish · 09/06/2020 08:54

Depends entirely on how many roles they are thinking of and whether pools or not. The first meeting tends to be the this is what’s happening and we are now going to start individual consultation. It really depends on their plans. Take notes and ask for copies of whatever presentation etc.

Helpmeupset · 09/06/2020 09:03

I asked my boss and he just “knew I had a meeting” but didn’t know it was about redudency. Lols. Of course you did.

Magicra84 · 09/06/2020 09:13

Good luck op. What time is your meeting at?

Trevsadick · 09/06/2020 09:14

To be fair, as a manager, I am not surprised he said he didn't.

Some people get really annoyed when their managers are given a heads up. Managers told not to say anything, so can't. And of they say after the fact, the get 'you could have told us'.

They can't really win.
