I’d change the kitchen cupboards and potentially install different doors out to garden... I really like it, DH thinks garden too small (family of 4).

OP posts:

The garden is smaller due to the extension. That wouldnt bover me. I have a smaller garden. It's about fitting what you need into the space / how you want to use it. I have a tree house. Swing, two slides, paddling pool, two man tent, 8 seater patio set, 10ft pond and 12ft trampoline all in mine right now. But no lawn space for ball games.

Starcup · 06/06/2020 18:20

Too small? What are you, a family of 9 foot 80 stone superhumans?

Looks lovely

Lonelycrab · 06/06/2020 18:21

To the OP I guess it depends on how much house you need; Crawley is very cheap for this area so naturally your money is going to go further.

I’d look at East Grinstead, Oxted, Dorking and Redhill, but you won’t find a house like the one in Crawley at that price in those places.

MMN123 · 06/06/2020 18:21

It’s two children and two adults - not four children and two adults!

JacobReesMogadishu · 06/06/2020 18:23

Garden is small and horrible. Guess you could make it nicer but not bigger.

You wouldn’t have a spare/guest bedroom.

The downstairs is very nice.

Bookoffacts · 06/06/2020 18:24

It's definitely not too small. You should see my house!

CrotchetyQuaver · 06/06/2020 18:25

I like the red kitchen
I do think the garden looks small though - there's not going to be much room left after the garden toys are put in, and that gravel won't be brilliant with small children.

Looks like your off Road car parking is brilliant though.
I think I'd keep looking.

I wouldn't bother with this property at all. With totally different frontages the kitchen has the potential to be nice but none of the other rooms stand out at all, and that's only the ones shown. Most of all though, Bluntness is right, you buy this at anything like asking price you could regret it. Prices could crash hugely in that area.

MaggieFS · 06/06/2020 18:26

Depends if it's priced as 'done' or has allowance for work. I think the size of great and I like that you have a living room, study and utility in addition to the open plan area. But I would want to underage three hefty projects which would need to add value:

  1. completely redo the garden to lots of lawn for young DC. Perfectly doable, just needs money!
  2. put in a proper en suite upstairs
  3. loads of redecoration including the kitchen cupboard doors

I know nothing of Crawley nor the area though...

phpolly · 06/06/2020 18:27

Lack of proper garden would rule this right out for me. Also the decor is horrifying (although of course you will be moving in your own things, decorating, and perhaps putting in a different kitchen)

KatherineJaneway · 06/06/2020 18:27

Immediate suspicion as there are no photos of the bathroom/s.

Inkpaperstars · 06/06/2020 18:27

@Legoandloldolls, your garden sounds brilliant

Hercwasonaroll · 06/06/2020 18:28

Garden needs grass and that shed ripping out.

If you've got 20k to sort the place it's pretty decent. Gardens not that small.

DuckALaurent · 06/06/2020 18:29

@Newbie1999 it lovely and massive! Garden is blank slate so you can do what you want or leave it low maintenance. More than big enough for family of 4! Can’t imagine how that’s even a thought it’s huge!

Standrewsschool · 06/06/2020 18:29

It’s a lovely house, and I even like the red kitchen. The garden can be changed to make it more family friendly.

amillionnamechangeslater000 · 06/06/2020 18:30

I like it. But... I’m not keen on Crawley. Are you going to have to commute in? If not, Horsham is far nicer, and as someone has mentioned upthread Redhill etc. But you wouldn’t get all of that for £475,000.

HauntedPencil · 06/06/2020 18:30

The garden looks ok just a bit bleak. You'd have to poke around I think.

Doggodogington · 06/06/2020 18:30

I like it, back garden is a bit concrete but some planters will sort that out. Lovely size, price is high but I’m from South Wales with a similar size house that cost 240,000 so I have no idea on prices over that way! Plenty big enough for family of 4, even if the bedrooms aren’t massive you have a spare you can use.

MMN123 · 06/06/2020 18:32

Wallington station is zone 5 so if commuting into town it would be a lot cheaper than Crawley - you wouldn’t get detached but you would get a decent house for your budget and there are plenty of parks locally

BangingOn · 06/06/2020 18:32

Pound Hill is nice, but I would choose Horsham over Crawley every time.

Sertchgi123 · 06/06/2020 18:33

I like the layout but the kitchen would have to go.

Justaboy · 06/06/2020 18:34

Something like that would be a million round our way nowadays!

Even with that garden that some would like and some wouldnt like, the kitchens OK but to me but it seems to most everone whats to change a kitchen when they move!

Also the tellys are too high on the walls, that'll give you eye and neck strain!

Is it underneath the flightpath from Gatwick airport.

Sushiroller · 06/06/2020 18:35

That house does not look that big from the floor plan
the kitchen is def an acquired taste
the garden... isn't a garden.
it has very little curb appeal.

It wouldn't be for me personally.

Itwasntme1 · 06/06/2020 18:35

Layout downstairs is odd, particularly the utility room?

Hate hate hate the kitchen. I would need to change the doors immediately. It’s that modern, try too hard but Seem to get it slightly wrong look. But That’s just me and others will love it.
