I’d change the kitchen cupboards and potentially install different doors out to garden... I really like it, DH thinks garden too small (family of 4).

The kitchen is truly awful.

Newbie1999 · 06/06/2020 17:27

@DarlingCoffee Renting, 2 kids, 2 beds, no garden. Could never afford to buy here in a million years.

Photo 10 puts me off. The layout is a bit odd and not very homely IMO.

Bluntness100 · 06/06/2020 17:27

I live not far from Crawley op, I guess about twenty mins drive and I’d be really cautious about buying there right now, I’d give it at least a couple of months before I do, because there could be a crash.

Crawley was even discussed in the Houses of Parliament. Gatwick is basically all but shut, a few flights a day, and many people who live in Crawley rely on the airport, so from hotels who take travellers, to transport companies to supplies to the airport. The lot.

Unless something changes soon they are predicting mass unemployment, And when that happens there is a knock on effect, because folks have no money to spend in shops or restaurants etc. Then they close too,

Airlines are pulling out of the airport, Virgin I think was the first. Ba likely next, don’t get me wrong I think the airport will survive, but it will take time and could become a very different animal.

As said, the area could be devastated, if you can hold off, you should.

Euclid · 06/06/2020 17:28

The front entrance is awful.

Chinesetakeawaay · 06/06/2020 17:29

Tbh anywhere, we also want a 3 bed and with our budget we don't have a huge choice but we've been told that Pound Hill is nice. We're also looking at Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill but we don't need to commute into London everyday so can be a bit more flexible on location. Crawley is good for us for train plus DP works abroad a lot so being close to Gatwick is a big plus.

BlusteryLake · 06/06/2020 17:29

Isn't Crawley in the flight path for Gatwick? I would wait until the airport is open again and see what the noise is like.

TheoneandObi · 06/06/2020 17:30

They've decked it out like a show home so it looks uninviting. Ditto the garden leaves me cold as it is... all those slabs! But all that can be changed. As for price? I couldn't say. I haven't lived in the SE for 13 years

DollyDoneMore · 06/06/2020 17:32

Anyone who thinks this isn’t a perfectly fine house for a family of 4 is a crashing snob and should check their privilege. Just consider what some families of 4 have to live in.

HappyPotato · 06/06/2020 17:33

The kitchen is awful and the garden is very box like. It's definitely not too small for a family of 4 though!
But the bathroom looks tiny for a 4 bed house and the layout is a bit strange..

Oliversmumsarmy · 06/06/2020 17:35

I like the kitchen but the “Uber modern” kitchen doesn’t go with the “rustic” furniture. I think that is what puts me off.

Would like to see the other bedrooms and bathroom.

The outside I think needs a little work.

Nice to have that size patio but I think it over powers the rest of the garden

SockYarn · 06/06/2020 17:36

I hate it. It's a soulless beige box, apart from the hideous red kitchen. The whole thing would have to be decorated top to bottom, get rid of the horrible fitted wardrobes in the bedroom and that awful mirrored wall.

The open plan kitchen is a great size but the red... no, I couldn't live with that.

Ipadipod · 06/06/2020 17:37

I like it, the garden can be changed to add more grass if you need to. Other than that it’s a really nice house .

OliviaPopeRules · 06/06/2020 17:38

Crawley really isn't that nice op. That garden is very small for such a big house and you could definitely find a lot better in Crawley.

raspberryk · 06/06/2020 17:39

@DollyDoneMore ha exactly, I consider myself extremely lucky as a family of 4 in my shared ownership 2 bed end terrace with a postage stamp for a garden. I wouldn't be able to afford this house in a million years, not even the equivalent size in my cheap area. I will be lucky to upgrade to a 3 bed by the time my son is 11 in just over 2 years, he is sharing with his sister at the moment.

Bargainhuntbore · 06/06/2020 17:40

Is a very cold looking house. No warmth. Kitchen needs ripping out but im ok with the garden.

Hoggleludo · 06/06/2020 17:40

Crawley is horrid

I'd go Horsham. South water.

Maybe Guildford. Surrey etc? Crawley is yuck.

Treacletoots · 06/06/2020 17:41

Well somebody has been busy with a tin of grey paint....

Seriously though, gardens always look twice the size on photos. It's quite small, but no smaller than a new build likely.

Elsiebear90 · 06/06/2020 17:41

I’m not keen on it tbh, I think it’s quite soulless and lacking in any character inside and out.

Lordfrontpaw · 06/06/2020 17:42

I quote like the inside - is it right on the path or us there a wall or hedge?

Elsiebear90 · 06/06/2020 17:43

@DollyDoneMore I’m certainly not a snob, I live in a house much smaller than this and less than half the price, it’s not about whether it’s “good enough” it’s about do people think it’s worth the money or if you could get something nicer. Of course it’s good enough for a family of four, but if I was spending half a million pounds on a house I’d want something that was a bit nicer than this cold soulless box with a bright red shiny kitchen.

Imissmoominmama · 06/06/2020 17:44

I like the kitchen...

The gardens would look bigger and much nicer with grass and plants. The front looks almost the same size as the back.

I don’t know anything about Crawley though.

redwoodmazza · 06/06/2020 17:45

I would prefer more loos and baths/showers upstairs.

CurlyMango · 06/06/2020 17:47

I love the kitchen but would desire an en-suite. Also closed off utility to study.
Garden can be worked with.

CuppaZa · 06/06/2020 17:47

I’d live in it, but I have older teens and the garden is only used for bbqs really.
Second what PP said about waiting to see what happens in Crawley.
