You're white you haven't experienced racism 2 *title amended by MNHQ at OP's request*

I started a thread in the early hours.

I fell asleep Blush
I've checked the thread and it's full.

Whilst the thread sadly proves my OP, there were a lot of great posts and understanding by some MNers.

I think this discussion is so important and I'd like to continue.

These photos sum up the ridiculous responses.

Do not tell me I am doing my oppressed race a disservice
Your racial prejudice faced as a white person do not trump the daily racism and fear for our lives

Finally, if your response to this is to explain your tiny grievances of racial prejudices you've faced then you are wholly part of the problem.

The racist behaviours and thoughts by your people is the problem. It is your duty to understand and tackle it. I repeat, it is not the duty of black people to educate you.

*What are you, 2?

No. You don't get to police how other people respond, on a public forum.

It's only your thread in that you started it. Posters are 💯 entitled to define what matters to them right now*
They are but I will call it out by saying it doesn't matter right now.

Not only ONE THING matters. FGS
Right now yes it does.

Are you a Londoner OP ?

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 02:57

What's not about my feelings?
Sigh. Sigh sigh.
The thread. The movement.*

I didn't mention my feelings. *
Yes you did:
I find both your threads attempts to goad, upset and attack others
*
I gave my judgment on your threads and approaches therein. Nothing to do with my feelings.*
Your judgement is how you feel. Hth*

And I'm allowed to do this - my view, my right to have one, and express it on a forum.*
Yes you are.
And I'll respond eith it isn't about you. Every single time.

OP posts:
EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 02:58

And you keep saying I am lying. I am not.

If you're not lying, show me where I was horrible to this poster...

For goodness sake.

I've said it three times and quoted you.

You said you didn't respond to the poster and that I was lying when I said you had.

I showed you where you had.

So I'm not lying.

I get it - I could say this 100 times & instead of acknowledging it, you'll deflect, refuse to read it properly (or pretend that's what you are doing) and continue being combative.

I'll just continue to report & leave you to your baiting. Truly your approach on this thread has been the nastiest I've seen on my time on MN, hiding behind a facade of caring about racism.

EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 02:59

You do need to work on comprehension.

My judgement is not my feelings

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:02

I've said it three times and quoted you.
I said to the poster "this isn't about you" I'm waiting for you to tell me how that is horrible.
*
You said you didn't respond to the poster and that I was lying when I said you had.*
I did.
If you haven't lied about that. You've lied about me being horrible:
Everyone who raises a point that you don't agree with, or isn't fully supporting your point of view, you mock, deride, and use abusive language too.
Where did I mock that poster or abuse them?
*

I showed you where you had.*
You haven't.*

So I'm not lying.*
You are.*

I get it - I could say this 100 times & instead of acknowledging it, you'll deflect, refuse to read it properly (or pretend that's what you are doing) and continue being combative.*
What do you get? The only thing I want you to get is racism.*

I'll just continue to report & leave you to your baiting. Truly your approach on this thread has been the nastiest I've seen on my time on MN, hiding behind a facade of caring about racism.*
You do that.

@EarringsandLipstick Well done for calling out the BS 👏🏼

NotNowPlzz · 05/06/2020 03:08

@EarringsandLipstick I get it - I could say this 100 times & instead of acknowledging it, you'll deflect, refuse to read it properly (or pretend that's what you are doing) and continue being combative. Ironic you're doing exactly what you're accusing OP of.

EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 03:09

Thanks for backing up my point with your definition OP which clearly illustrates .. judgement does not equal feelings in anyway.

You think for eg that when a judge hands down a judgement that feelings are involved?

You've made it totally clear your only aim is to wind people up.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:11

*Thanks for backing up my point with your definition OP which clearly illustrates .. judgement does not equal feelings in anyway.

When a jury decides a judgement of guilty or not guilty, yes.
When a judge decides on a sentence length they use the law and conviction.
How do you think people make judgements? By using their personal feelings, experience.
Don't be obtuse.

midwestsummer · 05/06/2020 03:13

There is a considerable movement in the USA currently that wants positive change and to start to break down the systemic racism in the country.
It might be more positive for people to consider what that change would need to look like and where it would need to happen.
I believe the police are more a symptom than a cause so it needs to be more than changing police rules.

NotNowPlzz · 05/06/2020 03:13

@EarringsandLipstick don't compare yourself to a judge 😂 and yes judges do use their emotions and speak on their feelings very often, usually during sentencing.

Anyway, I don't think you're wilfully missing the point I truly believe you're blind to what this interaction is all about.

The assertion OP is only doing this thread to wind people up is completely off base. She's not.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:15

Great point.

OP posts:
NotNowPlzz · 05/06/2020 03:15

consider what that change would need to look like and where it would need to happen. White people eradicating white supremacy from their hearts and minds. Everyone has it, even not racist people.

NotNowPlzz · 05/06/2020 03:16

And other races.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:18

My judgement is not my feelings

This has summed up, for me, the ignorance of the replies from you earrings and posters alike.

OP posts:
SevenOceans · 05/06/2020 03:22

And it's summed up for me, you OP.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:24

And it's summed up for me, you OP.

Come again?

OP posts:
SevenOceans · 05/06/2020 03:28

I'd rather not.

midwestsummer · 05/06/2020 03:29

White people eradicating white supremacy from their hearts and minds.

So how do you know when people have done that? What has changed around you?

I'm not saying this to be arsey but because this is time when real change could be made but I'm not sure what the agenda should actually be?
Personally for me as someone who works in a deprived black community in an American city that has suffered a lot recently I can see change is needed.
What I haven't really seen yet is a clear list of priorities.
National police guidance wouldn't be too difficult but it seems a sticking plaster.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:29

@SevenOceans
Don't make a point that doesn't make sense then refuse to correct or explain it.

OP posts:
midwestsummer · 05/06/2020 03:35

I'm watching CNN and they are arguing that overhauling voting is where to start.
I wonder if access to decent education is the start.
But I don't have a lived black experience just my observations.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 03:37

So how do you know when people have done that? What has changed around you?

When I can start a thread about the racism black people face vs the prejudices white people face without white people coming on to make it about them, acting superior and stating their feelings.

More importantly though, it's not a thing that will happen overnight. It will be a long process. It will be gradual so it's difficult to answer. Changes will appear gradually.
You'll see groups like Britain First eradicated. You'll see more black people in places of power, and I don't just mean politically, I mean in companies etc.
You'll see cultural appropriation toning down.
Youu'll see black people not being shot at for being black.
You'll see white people standing up and fighting racism.
You'll see less black poverty.
You'll see a reduction in knife crime, gun crime, gangs.

OP posts:
packetandtripe · 05/06/2020 03:37

@packetandtripe OP is not on a religious conversion mission. She does not need to pander to white people's feelings. Stop telling her how to be. I'll tell you how to be instead. Focus on the real issue here. Unarmed black men being murdered. White supremacy.

what a horrible response. I get now why people call for education. Tap out on the argument, you have nothing worthwhile to add.
