Pringles, I only get them if they’re on offer. Gluten free food- £3.00 for a tiny loaf of bread that crumbles to dust within seconds!

SerenDippitty · 04/06/2020 14:20

Blu Ray discs, often two or three times the price of a DVD.

unoeufisunoeuf1 · 04/06/2020 14:22

Seedlip. I know it's infused with precious botanicals and comes in a nice bottle, but so does gin, which also contains alcohol and all the associated duty / taxes.

ChooChoosBiscuitTin · 04/06/2020 14:22

Dining chairs. I can only assume they all have diamonds hidden in the legs.

emmathedilemma · 04/06/2020 14:23

Soft drinks in pubs

BippityBoppity87 · 04/06/2020 14:23

Chairs that cost more than a the average price of a sofa

Packingsoapandwater · 04/06/2020 14:23

Lamb. I cannot figure out why supermarket lamb is so expensive.

We are a country of good pasture. I can get half a lamb for £40 down at the farm shop, but 350g of mince in a supermarket is over £4.50.

emmathedilemma · 04/06/2020 14:24

Toast in a cafe - it's 2 slices and minimum labour input yet costs more than 2 loaves of bread

YouokHun · 04/06/2020 14:24

Mulberry handbags. They're made in a factory (I was taken on a guided tour after a job interview with them). They're not hand made by fairies

I treated myself to a Mulberry handbag a few years ago when they were expensive but not so completely out of reach as they became. I was trying to buy a British brand hence Mulberry. It was shipped from Mulberry UK and when I eventually properly looked at the label in the bag I found it said “Made in China”. A friend of mine living there said, ‘yes a lot of the factories make the real thing and the decent replicas all in the same production facility‘ Confused

Sorry, back to the question. Batteries. I am always shocked by how much they cost even the everyday ones. I bought a battery for my automated vacuum cleaner and that was £50. Mind you, worth every penny not to have to vacuum myself.

CoodleMoodle · 04/06/2020 14:24

We needed dishwasher tablets the other week but Asda didn't have any of their own brand, and I refused to pay for the branded ones. I'd rather go back to washing everything by hand than pay £9+ for 30 tablets... luckily we didn't run out and managed to get the cheap ones the week after, but it's ridiculous how expensive they are.

Pickles89 · 04/06/2020 14:24

I was going to say second hand Playmobil! You might as well spend the extra £6 and buy the whole superset brand new!

formerbabe · 04/06/2020 14:25

Agree about dining chairs. The actual table is usually comparatively cheap.

FreakStar · 04/06/2020 14:25

I'm going to repeat some already said, but...

razors
kitchen bins
gold jewellery
chablis
nuts
maple syrup
manchego

Pickles89 · 04/06/2020 14:26

Those little tubs of icecream you buy on days out, at National Trust places etc. Not sure how much they generally are, but I do know fit's far more than they're worth. There are only 3.5 teaspoons worth of icecream in the tub!

formerbabe · 04/06/2020 14:27

Agree about kitchen bins ..just why?!

EvilPea · 04/06/2020 14:29

Curtains.

Iamnotminterested · 04/06/2020 14:29

@LegallyBrunet

Seconding gluten free food, an absolute piss take IMO;

DHs razor blades, Gilette Mach 3 things I think, about £12 for 5, absolute rip-off;

Kath Kidston stuff, any of it, was sooo over-priced;

Le Crueset pots - clearly forged by unicorns on the Moon.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/06/2020 14:29

You think that cauliflower was expensive?

Last summer in France I paid €4 - and that was in the French version of Asda, not Waitrose.
Food in France is a lot more expensive than here.

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 14:30

Re cinema prices.. do look into a cineworld card, its saved me bloody loads of money.

@sqirrelfriends re the nappy bin refills.. try cheap unbranded ones off Ebay. They work just the same

Lamb and Duck meat
Razors
Nappies
Toilet Roll
Air Fresheners (the plug in ones)
Foundation
Nice perfume

chillimartini · 04/06/2020 14:31

Healthy food!!

rayoflightboy · 04/06/2020 14:31

Chippers.My son was ordering food for him and his gf.I asked him to get 3 battered sausages for the kids.

3 euro each for a battered sausage,i told him not to bother.

They are usually about 1.70.

Sexnotgender · 04/06/2020 14:31

Office chairs!! I just went to buy one thinking maybe £60. Wow, I was very wrong 😂

PumpkinP · 04/06/2020 14:32

Pizzas from takeaway places. Don’t understand why they are £20+

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 14:33

Oh. I agree with multi packs.
B&M had 24 bottles of J20 for £10 the other day. You'd get 4for that price in a pub!

Cans 80p but a big bottle £1?
Same re chocolate and crisps

MrKlaw · 04/06/2020 14:33

All 'fancy' tub ice cream is £5 per tub. I assume they don't expect you to actually buy it until its on the inevitable £2.50-3 sale every other week.

Dyson Fans - £400 for a fan with a filter. I still want one though if it helps my DCs hayfever
