Can’t believe no one has mentioned tampons...

Indeed. A few months ago, I got a good brand washing machine (AEG) for under £400. That's less than I paid for my first washing machine

When microwaves first came out, they were £200-£300, the price of a decent second hand car. Now they're cheap as chips!

DHs razor blades, Gilette Mach 3 things I think, about £12 for 5, absolute rip-off;

The Venus ones cost the same.

@GuiltyBark try Asda Extra Mature Cheddar, it's gorgeous and much cheaper. British too.

Storage facilities. I want one for 3 months. £160 per month was the cheapest. For a small empty room! Bugger that.

@FreakStar totally agree with you on the chablis, its my favourite wine however when ever we go out its always 40e to 50e and they never have half bottles, pay areound 20e for a bottle in the supermarkets including aldi
Razors - Shocking price, you can buy a razor with spare blades for less than half the pack of blades cost, such a waste

With regards to meat and veg i actually prefer to pay a bit extra for it, as somone who grew up on a fram and has many relations that are beef and dairy farmers, i see 1st hand the amount of work that goes into producing the food for us to eat and what little return they get

@HopefullyAnonymous - depends on the type of your skin. My DSis' skin is on the dry side and she swears by it. Mine is normal-leaning to oily T zone and I got spots when I used it.

Rugs.

We recently bought our first house so we've had to decorate top to bottom and nobody warned me that nice rugs would cost the earth.

Nespresso pods are worth it, the cheat type not as good, order in bulk, using compostable ones now.
Far better than instant coffee tho

Ginger! £4 for tiny pack
Second printer ink
Anything but value shampoo - when did £3.99 for 300ml become acceptable?!

Dominos you use the offers and it’s an okay price. You can always get any large pizza, garlic bread, wedges and cookies delivered for £15 here- works out cheaper for me and DH than other takeaways.

Agree with mattresses. Also made-to-measure blinds, even the ‘cheap’ basic roller blind ones!

Will only buy ‘special’ ice creams when they’re on offer- can get half price b&j every so often in Tesco.

Another +1 for printer ink. Cyan, magenta and yellow is £10 each and black is £20. That's £50 to replace a set, and half of it gets chewed away in the daily/weekly print head "maintenance/cleaning". It's a scam!

Disney blu-rays when the blu-ray format were new about 10 years ago. £24 per blu-ray disc! Thankfully they're about a tenner now and not much more than the DVD version.

Tonic water price (compared to normal fizzy pop).

Pesto!

Greetings cards.

Mobile phone insurance. A handset nowadays can be £1000, and when I looked around for quotes, they were all asking for £110-£120 per year! That's pretty savage compared to other insurance policies as it's preying on customer anxiety, people dropping their phones etc.

I don't include things like motorway services, railway shops, ice cream vans or photos booths because you're paying extra for the convenience.

Someone on page 1 mentioned dolls. It depends really on what type of doll it is. Some are collector's items. £10-£20 for a Disney doll or Barbie etc isn't that much really.
