@malificent7 B&M have a nice egg chair for £150 if you want one but thought they were too expensive. That's the cheapest I've found. They also have a 2 person egg chair for £200.

DollyPomPoms · 04/06/2020 17:33

Suncream.

MorrisZapp · 04/06/2020 17:35

I'm sure others have mentioned Lurpak butter, but has anyone noted how inexplicably heavy it is too? My mum gets it in her Covid shopping and it just about wrenched my shoulder out.

Surely lighter butter must exist. Maybe Maggie Thatcher's estate could fill some with air?

IVF

Sarahlou252 · 04/06/2020 17:39

Perfume!

ItsSummer · 04/06/2020 17:40

Headboards!!! Bit of cheap wood, foam and fabric. So expensive.

Divan beds. Cheap wooden frame, bit of fabric stapled on. Unfinished inside, yet £££££s

Guess what I’ve been researching this week...

namechangeformeagain · 04/06/2020 17:41

Apple products are the most overpriced things I've ever seen.

sillysmiles · 04/06/2020 17:44

I haven't gotten through the 4 pages yet but I just wanted to say @OopsUpsideYourBed for nit treatment, vinegar and mouthwash work amazingly well. A bit smelly and you need time to just sit, so stick on a movie, but it so works and the chemicals aren't harsh on the child.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/06/2020 17:46

My egg chair was £150 which I thought was pretty good. It's really sturdy. I've spent most of lockdown in it!

ArranUpsideDown · 04/06/2020 17:49

Storage wow we paid £40 a month for a huge one.
And similarly whoever it was who said she doesn't pay much more than £6 for 2kg of chicken breasts.

Price variation in the UK is immense and makes it very difficult to compare budgeting and cost of living.

nozzel · 04/06/2020 17:50

Vanilla extract, its so expensive right now.

caoraich · 04/06/2020 17:51

Yes to baby tights. Also toddler shoes. Oh my god! I got four pairs of work shoes for the price of my toddler's wellies and trainers 😩

lazylinguist · 04/06/2020 17:51

I am always surprised when I see people laden with food and drink at the cinema.

^This. Someone way upthread said it cost them £40 for cinema tickets and shared drink and popcorn for 2. My local cinema tickets are £8.50 per adult or £24 for a family of 4. We take our own drinks.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/06/2020 17:51

Built in/integrated appliances. Why?!

LadyEloise · 04/06/2020 17:57

Cherries
Always found left behind at the till in M&S or Tesco when people find out how much the bag of cherries they have filled is.

jeez20 · 04/06/2020 17:58

@vickibee
The reason why haircuts are more expensive for women than men at the same length is because a woman's haircut generally uses more intricate techniques than a basic mans cut and more skill, also generally more styling. Also if a man has long hair I charge the same as a woman. There's a £10 difference not including a blow dry.
My prices are all 'from' and are priced according to time spent/products used which i think is standard.
If you both had a no.1 all over it would be the same price.

I feel I have to speak out because so many people without any knowledge criticise hairdressers without any understanding regarding the training and undervalue/undermine our industry.

FrodoTheDodo · 04/06/2020 18:01

Yes to razors and cheese.

WTF is going on there?

stopgap · 04/06/2020 18:02

Masonry work. Costs an arm and a leg.

Thurmanmurman · 04/06/2020 18:04

Taps! I couldn't believe it when we renovated our house. Also mattresses which often cost more than the bed.

My2catsarefab · 04/06/2020 18:04

Plastic storage tubs for kids toys etc.

Scentsy stuff

myusernamewastakenbyme · 04/06/2020 18:05

Landscaping and fencing is eyewateringly expensive...my partner is a landscaper so only charges me for the materials...if i had to pay full price i'd be stuffed.

Auridon4life · 04/06/2020 18:06

Always get mens razors always better quality and cheaper. Aldi does some nice disposable ones

Dementeddotcom · 04/06/2020 18:09

@BadgertheBodger I dunno if you use them but I really rate the amazon presto range and it’s like 11p a wash :)

Rockbird · 04/06/2020 18:10

@CharmingB thanks for the tip, I'll check that out.
