That is worse than childbirth?

Just trying to ease my anxieties over giving birth, due this week!

I hate the unknown and not having a client what level of pain to expect. I know every labour is different but I cant sleep and thought I'd ask!

Fracturing my elbow. Fuck me, never felt pain like it.

Good luck OP

A pinched nerve when it's one of the major nerves that runs down your back and legs.

Gallstones

Banana0pancakes · 03/07/2020 21:51

Ear infection at it's worst is up there for me. Felt like being stabbed in the side of my head.

I've had 2 sections. First was amazing, easy op, easy recovery. Second one was probably the worst pain I've ever felt though, not the actual surgery but the consultant had to repair my bladder during it and that meant the amniotic fluid was just casually floating about my abdominal cavity irritating the fuck out of every thing below my diaphragm. Didn't know until the next day when the meds wore off. Felt like fire, and to make it worse the midwives tried to say it was wind Hmm, you don't need stronger painkillers just peppermint tea, then the consultant came back and said what the pain actually was. Oramorph did nothing.

Bubbletrouble43 · 03/07/2020 21:51

Yes I would rather go through childbirth again than the toothache I had when I had a dental abscess.

malificent7 · 03/07/2020 21:55

Its not that bad ( i was in labour for 2 days, with c section) ....as you know it's not due to an illness. I would describe it as being a lightning conductor for a creative force ( powerful/ spiritual).

Nonononon · 03/07/2020 21:56

I had an ear infection that had been left to get so bad my ear canal had swollen shut. No pain killers would touch it and it went on and on and on... that was way worse than child childbirth for me.

malificent7 · 03/07/2020 21:57

Yes...ear infection was vile with no lovely baby to show for it.

enjoyingscience · 03/07/2020 21:57

Kidney stones. Fucking agony.

Two labours on a grand total of four paracetamol between them, but I was on naproxen, codeine and everything else under the sun with kidney stones and still felt like I was dying.

Labour I really quite enjoyed 😂

Hushabusha · 03/07/2020 22:00

Childbirth was not that bad - totally endurable

Cramp in your calf muscle! Rather give birth 10 times over than experience that😩

Lalalamps · 03/07/2020 22:08

Dislocating my knee. While doing exercise, it was so painful I passed out.

Time2change2 · 03/07/2020 22:10

My appendix burst and went septic. Major operation and 6 days in hospital. Far worse that giving birth vaginally with no pain relief or a csection / csection recovery with an infected scar. Literally far far worse. Vaginal birth was a walk in the park compared to the pain of a burst appendix. Morphine didn’t touch the sides

HermioneWeasley · 03/07/2020 22:14

Kidney stones

Badtasteflump · 03/07/2020 22:15

A tooth abscess was worse imo - really hideous. And gallstones came pretty close.

mrsbyers · 03/07/2020 22:15

Having stomach drains pulled out without any pain relief

OohKittens · 03/07/2020 22:17

Neuralgia seriously like a contraction of the face. I've given birth 4 times without any pain relief at all and that was a walk in the park compared to neuralgia.

ToBBQorNotToBBQ · 03/07/2020 22:21

I had 2 dental abscesses, broken ribs, other stuff. Childbirth was worse.

TowelHoarder · 03/07/2020 22:21

I once had a verruca frozen off the ball of my foot, I’d rather cut my foot off than go through that again!

DancyNancy · 03/07/2020 22:22

That's a tough one. Yes it is hard. I was knocked down and had awful whiplash and other injuries. That first week was horrendous. And the moments of the worst pain were worse than the worst moments of labour pain. I've cracked ribs which was also very painful, every breath excruciating. That is up there with the worst pain I've felt. I guess cause we breath so much!!

Labour I did 18hrs before a brief one dose epidural, that last 6 of which were pretty intense. I then let epidural wear off so could feel most of the birth 6 hours later.

The amazing thing about childbirth is that once baby is born the pain is over. It's kind of surreal.

With injuries you have that healing process and bit by bit getting better.

With labour it's so intense and then all of a sudden you just don't feel the pain anymore.

I had twins on my second. And I had to have the epidural sooner (on my first I wanted to go without but just got so exhausted). And honestly it was so relaxed actually giving birth to them. Which had its cons cause there was so many people in the room and I was far more aware and conscious of my lady bits being on show Blush

Thisisworsethananticpated · 03/07/2020 22:24

My second birth was natural and I really didn’t think it was that bad

Same as everyone
Toothache
A degenerating fibroid ( now that was bad)

LetsHearItForTheBuoy · 03/07/2020 22:24

No BUT whenever I have to endure something now that is painful I just take myself back to those contractions and think to myself that this can't hurt as much as childbirth and it's gets me through it.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 03/07/2020 22:26

I didn't find labour too bad. And gas and air is wonderful. Having my wisdom teeth out under local anesthesia was far worse. Then one of them got infected and I was in agony for days.
