That is worse than childbirth?

Just trying to ease my anxieties over giving birth, due this week!

I hate the unknown and not having a client what level of pain to expect. I know every labour is different but I cant sleep and thought I'd ask!

Dental abscess.

Migraine.

Dental abscess and migraine together was enough to make me beg to be knocked out.

Yes, I had a broken ankle that was experiencing spasms every 20 seconds or so, thus causing the broken bones to rub against each other. During the whole of this time I had to be without a cast (realistically for about 18 hours).

I'm also a wheelchair user with very little core control, As I am sitting all the time and have muscle wastage on one side (esp. buttock), I am twisted awkwardly when I sit. This causes my hip bone to catch under/rub against my lowest rib. The pain is awful and I'm frequently in tears. I was in labour for 9 hours and I'd go through childbirth every day just to so I could have 15 pain free hours and not have to live wth that.

Internally bleeding, I seriously couldn’t breathe and actually wanted to die to make it stop. Thankfully I was drugged up to the eyes and then put into a coma when I got to hospital. Was horrendous and will never forget it.

The pain of a cracked tooth, which lasted longer than it might have, as the dentist decided to do a root canal to try and save said tooth. It didn't work. I was so upset at the thought of losing a tooth, but when the time came, I would have given away all I owned to get that fecking tooth out of my head.

Ectopic pregnancy was worse than labour too. I was frozen to the bed with the pain. I simply couldn't move, not even to lift my phone, which was right beside me. DP was out when the pain started and eighteen month old DS was in bed. If he had wakened up, I honestly couldn't have gone to him.

Labour contractions were painful, but at least there was respite every time they subsided. And I barely noticed myself pushing the baby out. All done with no pain relief - not by choice (I was a 'give me all the meds' kinda gal) but due to fast progressing labours, so there wasn't time to faff about.

My friend had kidney stones when she was 6 months pregnant.

The Doctor said after going through kidney stones you will find childbirth a doddle

I had tens, then gas and air then beautiful epidural. Not easy but not excruciating for me. Others have different of course. Worst was after giving birth, three days in hospital with no support from fairly scornful nurses and anxiety about how to care for first baby. I would always ask for epidural- I could still feel and walk but the pain was gone.

Try not to worry.
Everyone experiences pain differently. So what is excruciating for one, will be tolerable for another. It is one of the reasons some women have fast and unexpected deliveries, they didn’t sense the high level of pain they were waiting for.
You might be one of the lucky ones who knows they are in labour but copes well with the pain.
I didn’t, for my the pain was beyond anything I could have imagined but the moment I held me babies in my arms I didn’t care, in fact not only did I love them but I was extremely grateful that they decided to come out and put me out of my misery Grin.
No one warned me, but the pain goes on after childbirth. The afterpains can be pretty strong.

Yes tooth ache and a stomach pain they couldn't find the cause of. I would actually say my monthly period pain is worth than childbirth

Personally I found post c-section pain was worse than vaginal childbirth. No idea why people see it as the easy way out.

Stop worrying yourself stupid over asking people what is worse than childbirth. What will be will be. I know it’s scary. But you probably could do without this.... congratulations 💐

Pulpitis in an incisor. Omg the pain. My son was 9lbs and I was induced and the pain was horrific however the toothache chipped away at me for ages over lockdown and I’d rather have my son again then ever have a tooth slowly rot away.

I even had pliers trying to remove it and got no where. Finally had it removed and it was bliss. I was crying for days before, waking in cold sweats, shaking from the pain of a tooth infection. Mental

I had a corneal ulcer. Fuck me. That is the worst pain I have EVER had in my life. And I gave birth to a just shy of 10lb baby!!

I would rather have 10 more babies than ever have to go through the pain of a corneal ulcer. Shuddering just thinking about it now!!

Its true that you forget the pain of childbirth.

Breastfeeding. I'd have given birth 3 times over to have pain free breastfeeding.

Pluerisy. Every breath felt like someone was knifing me in the chest. I was ill for weeks and cried with relief when I took the first antibiotic even though I knew it wasn't an instant fix.

I've had infected wisdom teeth and teeth abscesses. But I found labour pains to be much worse and, in fact, despite being an atheist I made a pact with God during labour: if God would get me through this dreadful experience I would put up with toothache every day for the rest of my life. Reader, God took me up on this ridiculous pact :(

Toothache. I had natural birth with 10lb baby! Dental pain is far worse.

For me nothing was worse but it was so absolutely worth it. It also helps knowing it will end soon. Also there is plenty they can give for the pain. I wanted to manage on gas and air but it made me sick. I think I was given a pethadine injection that helped a lot don’t be afraid to ask for pain relief

Dental abcess and slipped disc with trapped nerve both at the same time. Over 24 hours in labour with DS1 was a breeze in comparison.

With the birth of my first, honestly at the time I thought I was dying! (realise now that was a serious over reaction but I was 20 and absolutely not prepared.) second birth was far easier and I had pain relief.
Then I had major hip surgery which required pins and screws. Took 5 months to be able to walk properly again after each one. I would take the childbirth over the first 4 weeks recovery of the hip surgery any day. I also took an addiction to the pain meds and the weaning off them was pure hell.

Migraine, dry socket infection, gall stones, a ruptured ovarian cyst, car crash where I didn't break anything but had bruises everywhere and a head injury, kidney infection.

Infected wisdom tooth. Pain was just relentless and constant. Also I have had some pretty bad episodes of sciatica that were absolutely excruciating. Both far worse than labour pains.
