To want straight legs at the top without the curvy bit?

cultkid · 30/05/2020 07:04

I am small I will start by saying I'm ;
5ft 1 and weigh 48-49 kg at the moment.
I know the legs with the curve at the thigh are appealing to lots of women.
I haven't exercised for years because I've had a very bad back. I've enjoyed Pilates on a reformer and also I do walk but my legs are not toned at all. My tummy is flat but legs are just really underwhelming
I have zero stamina. How do I make my legs tone up? I am actually really not clued in on this. Is there anything I can do in particular to bring the tops in so my legs are deeper instead of wider?
I don't want to run I haven't got the child care at the minute to make that happen.

Aibu to want deep set legs more sporty looking is it genetics?

@highmarkingsnowbile
But I don't resent my body I just want to feel attractive to myself that is all
I'm in awe of what my body has recovered from
Sepsis, a nephrostomy, I've had a seizure from local anaesthetic toxicity, two c sections, 2 laparoscopies, a tonsillectomy, concussion, chest infections, pseudomonas...
I've had so many things happen to this body of mine
I still love it but I want it to look more how I want it to. That's all

@FreakStar

I will look into the bum exercise

Also @ChristmasFluff An exercise plan to build up one half of the body is a very bad idea. Nobody wants an imbalance of strength.

Where do you get your info??

Eckhart · 30/05/2020 18:26

@Oilyoilyoilgob One of those hats that holds cans, and has a straw you can drink them from, could be classed as beer wear.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 30/05/2020 18:45

Eckhart, good one, I love the look of those and they might balance out my thighs 😁

@cultkid I really liked the information she gave, I’m going to take a look at her vids. Good luck with any exercise you start!
She does talk about food consumption too, for weight loss and as I have timber to shed I’ve started tracking My gals of my Fitbit. Jesus I was shocked how bites here and there add up 🤭 I’m walking an hour a day and eating less cals.

Went out today and did a 10,000 step walk on bulkpowders maple syrup pancake mix, their zero cal syrup plus strawberries-they’re great. Well worth checking them out. We’ve also started muscle food for lunches and it’s getting me in a much healthier eating habit. Just putting this in case you mix lower cals plus working out ☺️

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 30/05/2020 21:00

You're almost underweight.

No she isn't. Have you actually looked at the pictures the OP has posted? She has a perfectly normal, healthy body, with bits she would like to improve the shape of, and does not look on the brink of being underweight at all.

Sarissima · 30/05/2020 21:04

I've been reading this thread all along, OP.

I'm not sure what to say. To some extent, we are stuck with genetics. I am 5 foot 2 and 7 1/2 stone, which I think is about 48 kg. My legs are fabulous - slim and shapely from ankle to pelvis (so being short does not mean anyone is stuck with 'bad legs'). However, I have absolutely no waist and relatively big hips. No amount of dieting (and I have been 6 stone at my unintentional lowest, post divorce - which is 38kg according to Google) changes my essential shape or gives me a waist. It just makes me thinner all round.

But the photos you have posted of you when you weighed less overall did make your thighs look thinner. Though the rest of you looked too thin.

I suppose we should all embrace the shape and size we are. It can be easier said than done, though. I feel like a great lump now.

Bluntness100 · 30/05/2020 21:12

Op they are called saddle bags and they are difficult to get rid of

However toning up your legs will change the shape and definition.

So walking, running, lunges, squats, cycling, etc anything that works your lower body will improve the muscle definition.

A quick and easy one for your thighs is air squats. Put your legs hip distance apart. Raise your arms straight out in front of you, and squat down till your bum hits you ankles keeping your back straight.

Do five sets of ten to start with. They are really quick and easy and take a couple of mins. You feel like you’re doing nothing..

I swear to god the next day your thighs will ache. 😱

TatianaBis · 30/05/2020 21:26

She didn’t look too thin she looked completely normal.

I used to do Jane Fonda’s 80s workouts for the tops of my thighs and I’ve never found any other method as effective, even Pilates.

It’s nonsense to say you can’t control the shape of your thighs - in fact it’s quite easy to fix. You just need to spot work the muscles in the relevant areas.

Blackdoggotmytonguestill · 30/05/2020 21:39

At what point were you 3kg lighter? Was that during the painkiller addiction? I have a couple of friends with exercise addiction and they are similarly underweight. I can see why you liked that body shape if you are fantasizing about thinness over fitness, but it doesn’t look very healthy. Your weight now is far healthier - exercise to give you some additional definition would help your self-esteem, but in all honesty, further weight loss isn’t going to be helpful. Do you think you can change your thought processes from aesthetics to health? You seem pretty determined Smile

lilgreen · 30/05/2020 21:42

I carry my weight on my bum and top of thighs too but the flip side is my stomach has always been flat, even after 2 kids. I have found that my legs have toned up a lot since I got a dog and walked daily and briskly for 45 mins, especially just above the knee. Squats and lunges daily really work too.

Sarissima · 30/05/2020 21:44

@TatianaBis

I have spent about 30 years being anxorexic, on and off (currently off, more or less). I think the OP looks pretty ideal in her '3 kg less' photos. But I know from my anorexic thinking that this probably means she's too thin. Bear in mind I think I look like a whale at anything over 7 stone.

Peapod29 · 30/05/2020 21:45

I read this thread this morning and can’t believe this is still running. Ffs op. There are women the world over who are paying to have fat injected at their hips and on their bum to make them more shapely. It sticks out because it’s the top of your femur bone. You’re lucky that extra weight gain goes there rather than on your stomach like some of us. If you want to tone your upper legs squats and glute exercise is the place to start. There’s so many videos, start with body weight and slowly move up to adding weight. Having strong legs and glutes are very beneficial, and will quite possibly help alleviate lots of aches and pains. But make sure you start really slowly.

LivingThatLockdownLife · 30/05/2020 23:18

What the fuck?

This has got to be a wind up. OP posted a pic of completely normal legs on pg 3.

Has everyone just gone insane in lockdown!

TheStuffedPenguin · 30/05/2020 23:49

I agree - they don't look like the legs of someone who weighs 48 kilos .

cultkid · 31/05/2020 06:00

@Blackdoggotmytonguestill no not when I was totally dependent on pain killers it was before that when I was in excruciating pain and didn't do much or eat much and was in hospital a lot

OP posts:
cultkid · 31/05/2020 06:02

@Bluntness100 I'm sure I've seen a photo you posted of your legs a few years ago and you have good ones
Il going to go for a brisk walk this morning and see how I go with some Pilates on the floor with bands because squats and lunges I haven't got the strength to do them at the minute

Eyewhisker · 31/05/2020 06:35

This is an old thread, but the OP here dramatically changed her legs by running.

Would love pins like that

I'm sorry OP! I'm worried people here are looking at my legs and giving advice 😅 Awkward.
I've asked to have my photos removed, sorry about that! I just wanted to know what you meant is all.

Branleuse · 31/05/2020 07:27

I think you've got great legs.

1moreRep · 31/05/2020 07:40

as many others have advised, for tone you want to look at squats, lunges, deadlifts etc, however it is worth getting a personal trainer to show you how to move safely.

your stamina will dramatically increase with Hitt. joe wicks pe etc.

find a sport you love and just do that, the toning will come from working out, building muscle etc

1moreRep · 31/05/2020 07:42

horse riding and cycling may really help

Eyewhisker · 31/05/2020 08:18

OP - I know! That is an amazing transformation. I often look at it when I need motivation to run. I have only really started running 3 times a week over the last month so no dramatic improvement yet.

TatianaBis · 31/05/2020 11:45

I just do fast walking on a treadmill, about an hour a day. Keeps my legs very trim.

If you have a back injury that’s all you really need.
