@Decmum19 I was furious when MH said that. This government has no moral authority to ask us to make 'sacrifices'.

SmileyFaceSadFace · 27/05/2020 18:01

The PM reports to DC

It certainly looks that way doesn't it.

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:02

I'll be acting according to the guidelines. So exercising my judgment in light of my own unique personal circumstances as to whether I care to acquiesce to their impassioned pleas for all the plebs to protect to toffs.

Peregrina · 27/05/2020 18:02

"He won a King's Scholarship to Eton then another scholarship to Oxford."

Then he's not a good advert right now for either institution. Or do we assume that their scholarship process isn't exactly rigorous?

er, um , waffle, piffle, waffle, er, er,

Decmum19 · 27/05/2020 18:03

That woman has just said that if you have any symptoms you have to stay at home and not go anywhere. It's almost like a slap in the face for our mere mortals that have to follow the rules whilst others can just follow their instincts.

I know that this track and trace will help people overall but I can't help but the tone of the announcement is an insult to us all. Do as they say and not as they do and if we don't they'll punish us.

TangibleTuTu · 27/05/2020 18:04

Bobtrain don't come here if you can't handle women having strong opinions and bad language - I imagine you can't go down to your local pub if "swearing", "bad manners" and a "lack of education" are so offensive to you. You may have noticed that we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and the audience here contains the heavy lifters who have been doing the vast majority of caring for children, adults and elderly. I consider it a lot more offensive to expect the rest of the nation to make enormous sacrifices for the good of others, while Dominic Cummings believes he can do whatever he wants. He is lucky that people are just swearing, in other cultures the pitchforks would be out for him and Boris.

It's their sense of superiority that makes them think that just saying "let's move on now" is enough. The nation is enraged by their arrogance.

Roussette · 27/05/2020 18:06

I’m glad that DC has had it already otherwise I think the app might collapse from the sheer number of people and places he’s been recently

We don't know categorically he has had it. I'm 99% sure he said neither he or his wife took a test

Brutalhonestybrigade · 27/05/2020 18:07

Every time MH says that we 'must' stay home I feel personally insulted.

The government at the moment is your shitty college boyfriend who cheated on you with the girl from P.E., but is telling you that it was no big deal and you need to get over it for the sake of the relationship. And in future you better not talk to any boys, because if you do you you might cheat and will ruin everything for the both of you.

Hingeandbracket · 27/05/2020 18:09

this will bring the torys down if Boris doesn’t get rid, if a advisor ( puppet master ) can’t follow the rules set out by the government how the hell do they expect everyone else to. I feel for those family’s that have made huge personal sacrifices to follow the rules, it’s like a kick in the teeth
The Tories don't give a fuck.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 27/05/2020 18:09

I live in a solidly Tory area Sad and my MP normally parrots the party line - which is why I've pretty well given up emailing. However, I was SO angry about this that I did send an email - and much to my amazement, got a long, detailed reply setting out his thoughts as this farago has gone on, which ends:
"To a certain extent, Cummings is a victim of a media storm – but only to a certain extent. Whilst I have no affection for him, I do recognise that he has value in government and my initial thoughts were that he should probably be kept. But it is clear to me that despite his story, despite an element of politics in this, and despite his value to the government, his remaining in No10 now causes too many problems at multiple levels. For him to stay would be to reject the valiant efforts of millions of us all who have done what we can to squash this infection. His resignation is now the only way forward".Shock
Gobsmacked doesn't begin to describe it - and after this afternoon's performance, I've replied, telling him that almost everyone I speak to has expressed a variation on, 'Well, sod it, if he can gad about, I'm going to' which worries me greatly, as most of my friends are, like me, retired and generally obedient to the good of others..!!

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:10

Mind your fucking language? MIND YOUR FUCKING LANGUAGE?!

Oh do piss off.

If the only thing you can be impressed with, with this bunch of absolute goddamned fucking wallies who couldn't organise a piss up in a fucking brewery, is that they don't bloody swear - oh, and they're so patient, and courteous, as how many goddamned fucking thousands have died on their watch due to their callous, arrogant ineptitude, then you have a really poor set of priorities.

MorganKitten · 27/05/2020 18:11

A women was told that breastfeeding was not essential and to go home, threatened with a fine, pretty much the same week Dominic was taking his wife out for her birthday.

Funny his wife’s online story is different from his, and his online posts were edited yesterday....

TangibleTuTu · 27/05/2020 18:13

"Yvette Cooper asks the PM to publish the original advice on not closing the borders. He says all the advice is being published.

On quarantine, don't forget Italy closed its borders completely and yet had an appalling outbreak, he says. The advice was that this would only delay the virus."

This is pathetic. Delaying the virus was EXACTLY what we needed to get prepared instead of wasting months when they should've been stockpiling PPE and preparing tests. We could have even implemented test, trace and isolate. The UK totally blew its huge geographic advantage of being an island nation. New Zealand and Taiwan used that to swiftly implement measures that prevented the virus ever taking serious hold. Boris is admitting that the government basically did nothing.

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:16

Well, I remember his first broadcast, when he said, 'and sadly many people will get very ill and some will die before their time', or words to that effect.

I imagine that when he came a cropper with it, the thought running through the bozo's head was, 'but not me!!!'

Clavinova · 27/05/2020 18:16

Then he's not a good advert right now for either institution.

Probably a very good advert for both - Prime Minister and London Mayor plus £250,000 a year for his column in the Daily Telegraph.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 27/05/2020 18:16

But because theres no election on 5he horizon we can do nothing about it.Sad I do hope boris gets a bloody good kicking in 2024

nothingcomestonothing · 27/05/2020 18:18

@NotABeliever do you mind PMing me who your MP is? Because I got the same reply to my email, and I need to know before I embark on giving him my considered response Grin whether it's the same MP, or my MP has (again) parroted the party line and tried to make it look like his own thoughts.

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 18:20

But because theres no election on 5he horizon we can do nothing about it

That's what they said when May was PM...and when Cameron was PM..if we've learnt anything from the last 4 years it should be that change can and will happen

NotABeliever · 27/05/2020 18:24

@nothingcomestonothing it's Andrew Browne

tobee · 27/05/2020 18:27

"Probably a very good advert for both - Prime Minister and London Mayor plus £250,000 a year for his column in the Daily Telegraph."

Tories only value your monetary value as all know.

nothingcomestonothing · 27/05/2020 18:29

@NotABeliever snap! Maybe he really did do his own homework instead of copying it off the internet unlike a few days ago when he tweeted about DC needing to do what was safest for his children

Clavinova · 27/05/2020 18:30

Tories only value your monetary value as all know.

One plus point then - he did give £50,000 a year to charity from his Daily Telegraph salary.

Peregrina · 27/05/2020 18:32

I was going to say the same - produces people who only know money, not people who are honest, reliable, conscientious. Obviously we have different standards.

The80sweregreat · 27/05/2020 18:36

I wonder if DC and Mary Wakefield will download Dido's app?

tobee · 27/05/2020 18:36

Charity donations is another thing that Tories like to do. And we get told about their magnanimity. Not so keen on raising income tax to pay for public services.
