Peregrina

Well I haven't found Layla Moran to be totally truthful so let's see if she wins your leadership contest.

Peregrina · 27/05/2020 18:42

Speak for yourself Clavinova - I don't know any other politician bar Boris Johnson who has been sacked for lying twice, and has at least six children, by three different women. He lowers the bar even for the worst liar. But fine by you because he made a lot of money.

SophieB100 · 27/05/2020 18:43

Tonight's briefing just highlights the contrast between the government and the public.

And therein lies the rub:
On the one hand, we must, as our floppy haired leader insisted "move on".
On the other, we must, must, must, do what Hancock tells us today if we are contacted by the NHS testing system that goes live from 9.00 a.m. tomorrow.
So, basically, we should put up and shut up and follow the orders (or they'll make it law, which will involve us being fined).

This is totally unacceptable. It reinforces the fact that they are so out of touch with the people they now depend on. If they want us on side, and they certainly need us on side, they have to show that they are listening to us. Yes, we need to move on. So sack Cummings, and let's all do that. Otherwise, fewer people will comply with the new orders being imposed on us. Why? Because we complied with the first lot, and now we realise that we were mugs, and they were open to us using our "instinct" afterall.

So perhaps, we will now adopt the new mantra, move on and follow our own instincts. Because that's what law abiding, responsible people and parents should have down from the start.

@SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad that's an impressive reply! Could I ask who s/he is?

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:44

Are charity donations tax deductible?

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 27/05/2020 18:51

It listened to the update but checked bbc commentary.
No questions on D.C. today - not even with reference to if you have symptoms then you must isolate.
So it looks like the Trump approach of deny all, call it fake news, ignore and plough on is working.

Not for the rest of us though...........

So we do as we are told.

And those in power - or connected to - dont!

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 27/05/2020 18:52
  • not listened.
mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:53

So we do as we are told

Yeah. Nah.

Clavinova · 27/05/2020 18:53

But fine by you because he made a lot of money.

Fine by me because he wins elections and we didn't get Jeremy Corbyn.

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 18:54

44 MPs now saying the nasty little bugger ought to go. . .

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 27/05/2020 18:59

44 could possibly be a problem for Boris

tobee · 27/05/2020 19:00

"Fine by me because he wins elections"

Tory philosophy is:- "make a lot of money for yourself and win things"

That's it.

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 19:02

44 tories with more political nous and survival instincts, and less elitist arrogance than our dear wee Bozo.

Any more of you fellas up for the job?

merrymouse · 27/05/2020 19:02

if people don't comply, fines or other measures will be issued.

And I'm sure people will comply with the rules that Dominic Cummings followed, i.e. use your own judgement and don't inconvenience yourself.

merrymouse · 27/05/2020 19:03

So, basically, we should put up and shut up and follow the orders

Not really - DC has pointed out which loop holes we can use if we'd rather no.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 19:04

The thing that speaks volumes is BJ refusal to say anyone who is told they have been in contact with a Covid patient and must isolate can travel to a place for childcare if they think they may need it.

Yet on the other hand he's saying that DC doing this makes him a fab parent with integrity.

Does he even listen to himself Angry

solieltoday · 27/05/2020 19:05

So what can we actually do next?

They will just sit it out until next week, hoping they once schools go back, etc people will “move on.”

People could refuse to comply with the test and trace until DC is out?

I haven’t listened to how this is going to work - do you have to log on?

Maybe this is the only way to go?

Or a “socially distanced” march on Downing Street on Saturday?

The80sweregreat · 27/05/2020 19:07

Who will download this app voluntarily?

If it becomes the law what about people without a phone? A lot of very old people don't have a phone or old phones that won't download apps.
Who will trust them ? How can it be enforced?

merrymouse · 27/05/2020 19:07

If you don't want this to go away, keep contacting your MP.

Alsohuman · 27/05/2020 19:08

Christ, are you still at it @Clavinova?

Today I saw a funeral held outside a church because neither the coffin nor the mourners were allowed inside. And later a little boy upset because he couldn’t hug his granny who he was seeing for the first time in over nine weeks. Bloody heartbreaking and just a microcosm of all the heartbreaking things that happen every day all over the UK.

And you, dear Clavinova, have spent two days coming up with a series of feeble excuses for that shameless, elitist, unelected Svengali, Cummings. Shame on you.

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 19:13

Who will download this app voluntarily?

Not me. This Government has shown itself to be inept, lacking in transparency and accountability, and overflowing with arrogance and entitlement.

If they said it was May, I'd be checking the calendar.

merrymouse · 27/05/2020 19:16

I think it's likely that a lot of contact tracing will be done the old fashioned way with phone calls and knocking on doors.

LaurieMarlow · 27/05/2020 19:17

Imagine having so little self-respect that you don’t mind being blatantly lied to and are pretending to swallow a fairy story that wouldn’t convince the average six year old?

I can’t understand it. Is it terribly low self esteem or something? Do you genuinely not think you deserve better?

Clavinova · 27/05/2020 19:17

Alsohuman

So you would prefer the boy to hug his granny?

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 19:20

So you would prefer the boy to hug his granny?

Well, they should exercise their personal judgment and common sense in light of their own unique personal circumstances, surely?
