@sleepingpup

So Kier Starker tweeted on Twitter. How many people do not use Twitter or instagram or Facebook etc.

You don't read the right newspapers bob. He's been in the Mirror.

As I recall, Dominic Raab told us to "take a long, hard look in the mirror". You should have taken his advice.
PotholeParadise · 29/05/2020 11:47

That's to Bobtrain.

ZaZathecat · 29/05/2020 11:49

True, artisan, he's also only been a nobody to people who never indulge in a newspaper or listening to the news in general.

CendrillonSings · 29/05/2020 11:50

Close to a million signatures now. Not that it will make Cummings or Johnson do the right thing but should send a cold chill down the spine of the Tory party.

Are you joking? The three most popular petitions ever had 6, 4, and 2 million votes. They demanded respectively that we stay in the EU, hold a second referendum, and ban Trump from a state visit to the UK.

The outcomes? We left the EU, didn’t hold a second referendum, and Trump visited the UK on a state visit! Grin

So no, no one gives a toss about petitions.

YouTheCat · 29/05/2020 11:51

We haven't left the EU yet.

I do agree that most petitions are a waste of time though. We aren't being listened to.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 29/05/2020 11:51

The Conservatives used to be smarter than this. Even May was smarter than this mess.

I thought she was a poor PM at the time throwing away a majority like that. However she looks fantastic compared to the present incumbent who has lost a massive amount of goodwill overnight. The vast majority of people are sickened. I know theres a few defending him but they are very much in the minority.

Not really sure we can do anything about it now. Hes brazened it out. I'll be very interested in the next by election when it comes up tho.

YouTheCat · 29/05/2020 11:55

He'll have his 'people' come up with some nonsense like 'vote tory, save a puppy' or some such shite and the dimwits will lap it up and vote him in again.

The only way to get rid of him is if his party turns against him.

chomalungma · 29/05/2020 11:55

So no, no one gives a toss about petitions

That is very true.

Which is why contacting a local MP is far more effective.

CendrillonSings · 29/05/2020 11:56

We haven't left the EU yet.

Factually incorrect, I’m afraid. We legally left the EU on 31 January 2020 - our membership has ended and cannot be restored without applying from scratch. We are still in the transition phase, which could still in theory be extended, but according to international law we have left the EU.

Peregrina · 29/05/2020 12:01

You are not afraid Cendrillon, you are gloating. Still enjoy your chlorinated chicken when it comes.

YouTheCat · 29/05/2020 12:03

Fair enough. That was Cummings as well. Determined to shaft the country and spread the money to his friends.

solieltoday · 29/05/2020 12:03

”We legally left the EU on 31 January 2020 “

Oh joy and wonder.

Can’t wait for the “transition phase” to play out....

chomalungma · 29/05/2020 12:07

our membership has ended and cannot be restored without applying from scratch

I bet if we asked them reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly nicely though Grin

Still. We are on our own. China is raising its head and imposing tariffs on Australia for daring to stand up to it.

But that's one for the Brexit threads - I suspect you are on there though

SophieB100 · 29/05/2020 12:21

I don't think there are that many nobodies who have been played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

No shit Sherlock Grin

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2020 12:36

Definitely not under 30 here either!

And even if most are under 30. They are the current generation who will be working for next 35 years.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 29/05/2020 12:37

The only way to get rid of him is if his party turns against him.

That will come in time. No way will the party faithful be happy with him alienating the vast majority of the electorate. If I were Tory I'd be furious at him for squandering such a lead. He'll have to work hard to get it back. Or somebody will given that hard work is apparently not his forte

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2020 12:38

How about

Sack Cummings

Restore faith

Save lives

SophieB100 · 29/05/2020 12:42

Or:
Stay Inert. Protect Cummings. Lose Trust.

OP posts:
Mittens030869 · 29/05/2020 12:42

You’re right, the party will turn against him if he sticks to his path of alienating the electorate. In exactly the same way they turned on Thatcher in 1990.

CendrillonSings · 29/05/2020 12:44

If I were Tory I'd be furious at him for squandering such a lead. He'll have to work hard to get it back.

Given that he helped mastermind the strategy that won the landslide in the first place, I think you’ll find most Tories are willing to cut him some slack. Not everyone loses their perspective at the sight of a media feeding-frenzy.

LockdownLucie · 29/05/2020 12:45

I like that @itsgettingweird

Peregrina · 29/05/2020 12:46

Cutting 'him some slack' will depend on what experience they have had during this period of lockdown. If they have lost loved ones, and not been able to be with them in their last hours, or attend their funerals, they might not be quite so forgiving.

monkeyonthetable · 29/05/2020 12:50

@bobtrain - I've felt exactly what you are saying about other people but the truth is - he's not a nobody - he is the schemer behind bumbling BoJo and he effectively runs the country. If he stays in the woodwork he can worm his way through it until it collapses. He needs to be smoked out.

Humphriescushion · 29/05/2020 12:51

Thanks for that link @ roussette, very interesting reading.
