@CendrillonSings

I'm emailing my MP again right now.

Oh noooos, Cummings is surely done for now! Grin

Mock away.

It obviously works, given that a number of Tory MPs have actually listened to their constituents and called on Cummings to resign or at the very least apologise.

Roussette · 28/05/2020 15:37

Exactly. One MP this morning said he had had over 1,000 emails on this subject... more than he had ever received in his time as an MP on one subject

Alsohuman · 28/05/2020 15:39

This is an interesting read, you’ll find the last part particularly interesting if you blindly support anyone in a blue rosette.

I genuinely don't see this as a left/right issue. There are plenty of hard working sincere MP's from all sides of the house who are invested in delivering public service. For example I disagree with Steve Baker on many issues - but I don't doubt his sincerity and therefore I am prepared to listen and engage.

But the terrible mismanagement over the last few days however, has revealed that the Government will move to protect its own even when it flies in the face of good management, the laws they have set and critical public health issues.

I don't think this reflects on the Conservative party or voters - it reflects solely on those individuals.

HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 15:43

Durham Constabulary have had a Q and A session on their fb page

Check out the comments.

They are doing another one tomorrow. 2pm.

PotholeParadise · 28/05/2020 15:43

Once you've emailed your MP, why not email any secretary of state whose behaviour you find particularly noteworthy?

Cendrillon, you're perfectly entitled to send emails in to Braverman telling her she's done well. She works for you too. That's democracy. Wink

But so am I. And I only email MPs to give positive fedback if they've earned it. Whatever party they hail from.

Mumratheevergiving · 28/05/2020 15:54

This matter doesn't all hinge on charges though does it? It's about public confidence in our leadership during a national emergency. Don't forget Boris lied to the public this week about DC touring around County Durham during lockdown. It's an absolutely textbook whitewash.

Best of luck Matt Hancock and co. expecting people to comply and 'do your civic duty' now (hollow laugh)

chomalungma · 28/05/2020 16:10

@Roussette

Haha so Braverman has deleted her inaccurate tweet defending DC. What a surprise. Luckily it was screenshotted.
That's funny.

I hope someone asks her about this. Especially given her response yesterday to the Shadow Attorney General

Peregrina · 28/05/2020 16:13

Locally, people still seem to be taking the distancing seriously, but I suspect that it's because they know it's still a sensible thing to do, not because the Government has told them to.

chomalungma · 28/05/2020 16:16

Has she deleted the tweet?
This one is still standing

to think Dominic Cummings should go/thread 4
Mumratheevergiving · 28/05/2020 16:18

I actually feel sorry for the Durham police getting it in the neck now because of public frustration with the situation. We just want to see someone in authority acknowledge that Cummings behaviour was not up to the expected standard for someone in his position.

Boris should be giving Cummings a public bollocking for his actions. It's our PM that is ultimately responsible for DC getting off scot free and the pair of them are now responsible for torpedoing public health compliance.

CendrillonSings · 28/05/2020 16:27

Actually it obviously doesn’t work, given that Cummings has neither resigned nor apologised Wink

You missed out being sacked. Yet.
CendrillonSings · 28/05/2020 16:29

Alsohuman

So is Boris out by Christmas, or were you talking nonsense?

Snowjive2 · 28/05/2020 16:30

chomo
I agree. Suella Braverman is in serious trouble. Her response to the Shadow AG yesterday was both extraordinarily rude and demonstrated that she really doesn’t understand the requirements of her position.

FliesandPies · 28/05/2020 16:32

I've gone into the future and can confirm that Boris is indeed out by Christmas. Happy now?

Peregrina · 28/05/2020 16:32

Suella Braverman won't be in trouble with Bozo though.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 16:36

So you're saying that 40 or so Tory MPs expressly and publicly speaking out against Johnson over this matter isn't significant?

Riiiiiight ...

Alsohuman · 28/05/2020 16:36

@Peregrina

Suella Braverman won't be in trouble with Bozo though.
Of course not. She was just obeying orders, after all.
itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 16:41

Cho that's interesting. That screenshot above clearly states No 10 have said Cummings and his wife suspected she did have CV. So why did he return to work before returning home again for his mercy dash to Durham?

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 28/05/2020 16:42

So BoJo has got a majority of 80, 61 of whom agree Cummings was wrong to do what he did and say what he said. Looks like Tories have lost a huge following this week. They might not do it now but the seed has been sown and the party will absolutely be sharpening that knife to stick in BoJo's back when they think they have enough support

And I for one will be take great pleasure when they do.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 16:42

Anyone got AGs tweet to shadow AG?

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 16:47

I think Lord Falconer wrote you Braverman and then Tweeted her letter and his subsequent reply:

CendrillonSings · 28/05/2020 16:51

Looks like no one’s brave enough to stick with a ridiculous Christmas prediction after all.

What a surprise! Grin

Alsohuman · 28/05/2020 16:52

If you mean me, say so.
