WIBU to wear no underwear with a long dress?

Not the perv troll (check my posting history, I've been around for years).

I want to go out for a walk today. I've had some skin issues down there and whilst I've been at home, wearing no underwear and loose pyjamas obviously hasn't been a problem. But it's nice and I have a day off work and I want to get out.

If I wear a long (patterned) dress, that should be ok shouldn't it? It's not particularly breezy. I have no intention of becoming the Hampstead Heath flasher. I'm just not sure it's acceptable in public...

I’d wear them personally but I don’t think I’d feel comfortable leaving the house without them. If you do then go for it.

FlamedToACrisp · 27/05/2020 11:58

@MeninSuits haha I'm not a period perv, never even thought of it!

AriettyHomily · 27/05/2020 11:59

Knickers seem to be a popular topic of conversation today.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/05/2020 11:59

Fine at home. No way would I do this out.

Lifeaback · 27/05/2020 12:00

I’ve done this before when I had a really horrible bout of thrush and think it’s perfectly fine so long as it’s a long enough dress that if it blows in the wind it won’t flash anything!

Let her breathe I say....

Lockheart · 27/05/2020 12:01

@handbagsatdawn33 sootikins are a misogynistic urban myth and don't exist.

@MeninSuits I know but I can't help that. All I can do is ignore them.

Have you got some loose shorts you could wear instead? Like the pyjama short style? Or have you an old pair of pj's you can "make" into underwear?

FeelingTheBurn · 27/05/2020 12:08

I would if there\s no chance of:
a) falling over and your skirt ending up around your head
b) a sudden breeze

BlueJava · 27/05/2020 12:08

YANBU I often do this. So "what if you're hit by a bus?" they say... but no knickers would then be the least of your worries! Provided it's not indecent do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

AdoptedBumpkin · 27/05/2020 12:10

It all seems to be about underwear today. Grin

Queenoftheashes · 27/05/2020 12:12

I think the knickers in a handbag is a good idea - just in case it suddenly gets really blustery or you get caught up in a socially distanced handstand competition.
But yes do it. I sometimes consider this and then chicken out. But fuck it now i know other people are doing it I’ll crack on.

Lockheart · 27/05/2020 12:12

Yes @AdoptedBumpkin, people keep telling me. Clearly I have impeccable timing. Once my laundry's finished I'm going to go out and try and forget I ever asked.

And as I posted upthread, I found some old biker shorts so my problem has been solved! It would be a very uneventful thread were it not for the accusations of perv-trolling.

No offence meant Smile
Lockheart · 27/05/2020 12:20

I know @AdoptedBumpkin, it's more a general exasperation! Grin

@ArriettyJones

Assuming you’re really not the perv troll....

That’s exactly the kind of decision that sparks off a “Sod’s law” chain of events that ends with you locked out and up a ladder while a crowd of neighbours look on.

I wouldn’t.

Port1aCastis · 27/05/2020 12:21

Why seek internet validation for not wearing knickers if you don't want to wear them don't, there's no need to announce it as per 'extra extra I've got no drawers on I need y'all to know'

Groundhogdayzz · 27/05/2020 12:22

I would, only flashing problems I’ve ever had is skirt accidentally tucked into knickers ones....much safer to go without Smile

Elsiebear90 · 27/05/2020 12:25

I don’t understand how some women go commando, do you not have discharge? For about half the month I’d be walking around with wet patches if I tried it.

steppemum · 27/05/2020 12:27

When I was about 10, I was staying with my (quite conservative) Granny.

She lived in a rather bohemian village. One of the neighbours was an old old friend.
One day she popped round for tea, in a long flowey dirndle skirt/dress. I overheard her say to my granny
"Oh what a laugh, I went into town today and forgot to put on any knickers" My Granny's face was a picture. I was fascinated, having never met anyone who didn't wear undies!

Who will know? If you are comfy, no-one will know.

Lockheart · 27/05/2020 12:28

@Port1aCastis because the idea made me uncomfortable and I wasn't sure if it was a "normal" thing to do. Unsurprisingly googling this didn't give me the results I was looking for...

OP posts:
steppemum · 27/05/2020 12:31

a bizarre situation with a ladder, a gust of wind, an unplanned somersault etc

Grin Grin

dare I ask - what is sootikins?

Durgasarrow · 27/05/2020 12:32

The Victorians wore open crotch underwear, why should we be any different?

Gwynfluff · 27/05/2020 12:33

I’m the wrong person to ask. I can’t even go to bed without my knickers on. The thought of doing so outside the house puts me about

Friendsofmine · 27/05/2020 12:34

All through lockdown I have been doing this often without taking a handbag so no backup.
