WIBU to wear no underwear with a long dress?

Not the perv troll (check my posting history, I've been around for years).

I want to go out for a walk today. I've had some skin issues down there and whilst I've been at home, wearing no underwear and loose pyjamas obviously hasn't been a problem. But it's nice and I have a day off work and I want to get out.

If I wear a long (patterned) dress, that should be ok shouldn't it? It's not particularly breezy. I have no intention of becoming the Hampstead Heath flasher. I'm just not sure it's acceptable in public...

You should watch the film 'Together.' My fave scene is the one where one of the women in the shared commune house is wandering around naked from the waist down, because of thrush, and they have to have a house meeting to discuss whether it's appropriate. Grin

Elizabella · 27/05/2020 12:36

I have gone...ahem...commando for the last two days but only inside the house. Knickers are a Victorian invention anyway. I would say knickers if your dress or skirt is likely to billow up and if longer length. If it is short then just remember that you must sit properly to avoid causing offence to others.

steppemum · 27/05/2020 12:39

I must say, I'm with the women who wonder how you do this and stay dry
I couldn't ever I don't think

coffeeandgin26 · 27/05/2020 12:40

I live in dresses and in the summer if I'm
Wearing a maxi dress or a skirt, as long as I'm Not going to the beach I often go commando. Never sleep in pants in either.

I have never suffered thrush in my 36 years of life.

dollyknocker · 27/05/2020 12:41

@timekeeper1 any discharge doesnt just fall out of your vagina 😂 at least, not in my experience. Commando is fine for indoors and outdoors, nobody will know and it's really not a big deal even if they did.

GCHWho · 27/05/2020 12:42

Place emergency pants in handbag, put them on before placing ladder against wall, or ask paramedic to deploy in all medical emergency situations.

Spied · 27/05/2020 12:42

I wouldn't enjoy my walk as my lack of knickerage would be at the forefront of my mind.

Chocolatefixeseverything · 27/05/2020 12:42

Second the knickers in your bag just incase, a security blanket of sorts Grin

Lweji · 27/05/2020 12:47

I always wear underwear, even for bed.
Never suffered thrush in the 48 years of my life.
Not sure what that means. Grin

However, if I were to go commando, it would have to be during a very dry day of the month. When I reach the EWM phase, it's not safe at all. Shock

steppemum · 27/05/2020 12:50

Lweji - I'm with you on the not safe!

dollyknocker umm, yes it does, that is why I have discharge on my knockers at the end of the day!

I don't wear them at night though.
Always wear them once up and about and dressed, but always 100% cotton. never have thrush

littlemeitslyn · 27/05/2020 12:51

Who's going to know/care?

Ronnie27 · 27/05/2020 12:52

I never wear knickers with a fitted dress, ruins the line. Not been arrested yet. You’ll be fine. Grin

LincolnshireYellowBelly · 27/05/2020 12:54

Hope today’s not the day you’re rushed to hospital! 🙈🙈🙈

dollyknocker · 27/05/2020 12:54

@steppemum Loving that typo haha! I think it's on your knickers because they're there, iykwim, whereas if there's nothing there it just stays put. That's my experience anyway. Maybe I have a magic fanny 😬

LordyLordy1 · 27/05/2020 12:58

I can't believe you need to ask @Lockheart!

Do whatever you want. How will anyone know if you wear a long skirt assuming it's not white lace?

I've been shopping in a very 'naice' up market town years ago when my oldish knickers were in danger of slipping down, so I took them off in a loo and popped them in my bag and carried on shopping.

HopeMumsnet · 27/05/2020 12:58

Hi all,
Thanks for the reports, we can see that there have been an unusual amount of people expressing concern over their undercrackers today however we've looked into it and don't think there's anything going on but the heat. So that's good news!

Pascha · 27/05/2020 12:59

MIL does this on a semi regular basis because she has had some serious medical problems down there and the treatment has thinned the skin and made it extremely friable. Knickers can sometimes cause nasty sore patches so she goes without pants when it's prudent to.

Just do it OP. No-one will be any the wiser.

Bluesheep8 · 27/05/2020 13:00

Knickers seem to be a popular topic of conversation today.

I was thinking the same Confused

manitobajane · 27/05/2020 13:01

@steppemum umm, yes it does, that is why I have discharge on my knockers at the end of the day!

I expect that is unrelated to your knicker wearing or lack of Grin

WendyHoused · 27/05/2020 13:04

I had abdominal surgery last year and couldn’t wear knickers for a few weeks because they rubbed on the (vertical and somewhat hasty) incision. It was fine.

Betteb · 27/05/2020 13:05

Wtf are sootikins??

RightOnTheEdge · 27/05/2020 13:16

I want to know what sootikins are too but I'm far too scared to Google Grin

GCHWho · 27/05/2020 13:20

Wtf are sootikins - well it is NOT the collective noun for sooty and sweep fan’s I found to my cost when googling- and the linked referrals- dinnae google laddie/lassie !

Needamanicure · 27/05/2020 13:21

Why do you need to ask?

Do what you feel most comfortable with.

RaininSummer · 27/05/2020 13:23

I think I would put a pair of knickers in. My bag just in case of those curveballs which life tends to throw.
