To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting). All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

@yomommasmomma I got deleted for stating similar

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 13:19

He absolutely needed to continue to film her for his own protection.

Exactly. White women's tears are really a threat to the well-being of black and brown men and women. She knew exactly what she was doing. In the U.S it's shoot first and ask questions later - she knew by calling the police and telling them an African American man was threatening her that the most likely outcome would be him being shot on sight.

How many white women have destroyed lives because they were offended by a black person just existing. Emmett Till = case in point. I'm half white and I am honestly terrified of white women.

SimonJT · 26/05/2020 13:20

Odd how many scared people would choose to continually walk closer to the person they’re scared of Hmm

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 13:20

@totallyyesno don’t know about others, but I don’t rush over aggressively to someone when I’m scared.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 13:20

@SimonJT x post

totallyyesno · 26/05/2020 13:21

The majority of MN users are white middle aged women who can't understand anything beyond their own little fish bowl thinking.

"I'm so keen to see racism in others I haven't got time to avoid it in my own posts".

His Sister on that twitter linkused the 'karen' thing, so they aren't against using racist and ageist terms.
Exactly. Nobody is looking good here, including most of the posters on this thread.

yomommasmomma · 26/05/2020 13:21

@SharonasCorona wow...why does that not surprise me. Let's see....

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/05/2020 13:22

She did not sound scared to me. She sounded fake. If she was that scared she would not have approached him, she would have walked away.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 13:22

@Ponoka7 Yes what she did is Karening 101. It's basically in the Karen handbook. That you think Karen is a slur means you have zero idea of the absolute hell white women are able to wreak on the lives of unsuspecting black people. I've had Karens as bosses, as colleagues as nurses and doctors. They are everywhere - this situation is not unique.

helppleaseDH · 26/05/2020 13:22

I think @vladim

Experimenopause · 26/05/2020 13:22

‘I’m going to tell them there’s an African American man threatening my life’
The cheek of it! I am sure she will not keep her job after this, and rightly so.
I routinely encounter people who can’t be b lathered to put their dog on leash and they know it’s a public pathway so small children often use those paths.
It takes a second for something nasty to occur and who will make a video then? She had it coming. Well done to the guy to stand up to her like that.

boredtotears11 · 26/05/2020 13:23

It’s not often I hate someone, but I hate that woman. A vile human being.

yomommasmomma · 26/05/2020 13:23

I think Vladimir's posts sun this up perfectly.

totallyyesno · 26/05/2020 13:24

Karen is a slur means you have zero idea of the absolute hell white women are able to wreak on the lives of unsuspecting black people.

Oh so it's not a slur unless you are a victim? I don't think it works like that.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/05/2020 13:24

"Karen" is not a racist term. People need to get a grip.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 13:24

Did anyone notice how her voice changed when she started speaking to 911? Crocodile tears

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 13:25

There's a reason why for example black women are 4 times more at risk of death during childbirth and why black people have to edit their names so they don't sound too ethnic. Racism isn't someone calling you the n-word. It's a Karen calling the police because a black person just seems a bit too happy. Or a Karen not taking you seriously because you're black. Every single black person has come across a Karen at least once. I hope that woman loses everything.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 26/05/2020 13:26

I don't think she's faking the tears.

She is. They're tears of anger. Not genuine fear. She walked towards him. I can tell you I work in a situation that sometimes requires confronting hostile men and I NEVER do so if I have male colleagues nearby and even then, never on my own without another person. Same when walking anywhere alone. So I don't buy her being afraid.

She's very pissed off (I hate being filmed so would be too) and resorting to faux tears.

Myohmy111 · 26/05/2020 13:26

Totallyyes.
My conclusion re the blindspot between racism and feminism isn’t based on people disagreeing with me on this thread, FGS. It’s as a result of years of observation and self education. Perhaps you should open your mind to it.

BlooperReel · 26/05/2020 13:26

The woman deserves to lose her job and be publically shamed, he could have died, very easily, at the hands of the trigger happy US police.

I don't agree with the 'Karening' of the situation, blanket judgements on middle aged white women are not helpful in stamping out prejudice and racism.

Schoenes · 26/05/2020 13:27

She was not scared at all. If she had been scared, why on earth didn't she just walk away. Some posters make me think of white sheets, dunno why. I am a white woman.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/05/2020 13:27

Oh no white women being reminded of the correct way to behave by a black man who does he think he is

That’s that issue ....

She is annoyed

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/05/2020 13:27

I am a white woman. I'm fed up of white women acting like victims whenever the "Karen" thing is brought up. We are not the oppressed. Stop with the faux outrage.

changeitupagain · 26/05/2020 13:27

"As soon as she called the police and told them she was being threatened by an African American she crossed the line."

I haven't seen the video so there may be nuances in tone, body language etc. However I think some people forget race is also part of someone's physical description.

If i was being threatened by a man who happened to be black I would call the police and say there is a black man threatening me. Exactly the same if there was a white man, a Middle Eastern man, a ginger man or a man with a scar or a glass eye. Because they are physical descriptors and would hopefully help with the identification and possible catching of the person who threatened me.

Doodar · 26/05/2020 13:27

that vile woman absolutely knew what she was doing. Putting a fake hysterical voice on, makes me feel sick.
