To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting). All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

Knew the real victim would be black

Indeed. She's a racist bitch and she was also incredibly cruel to her dog. She knew what she was doing, that pathetic fake I'm scared for my life call to the police.

Saddened but not surprised at some of the comments defending her.

Boulshired · 26/05/2020 11:24

If I was black, male and living in America with police with guns I would be walking round with a body cam permanently on.

Destroyedpeople · 26/05/2020 11:26

I agree lockheart. There'are people who have probably never opened a book on American history and/or remain wilfully ignorant about the Atlantic slave trade and how black people esp men have been treated in 'the states' that jump onto threads like this bleating 'ooh she was scared' 'ooh he is as bad as she is'.

VettiyaIruken · 26/05/2020 11:26

Absolutely, Lockheart!

Glowcat · 26/05/2020 11:30

’If I was black, male and living in America with police with guns I would be walking round with a body cam permanently on.‘

This ^ and people like this woman treat wield that threat like a weapon.

Hadjab · 26/05/2020 11:32

@ChipsyChopsy black people have to film all incidents in America, for their own safety - do you not follow the news?

Ahmad Arbery?
Trayvon Martin?
Sandra Bland?

feelingfragile · 26/05/2020 11:32

How can anyone defend this woman? Or try and justify her actions?

She's hasn't got the dog on a lead in the first place, she's strangling the poor dog for a long time. You can see the poor thing panicking.

She's making up all sorts of nonsense on the phone - trying to suggest she's in danger when actually he's standing silently filming her. Of course she knows what might happen when she phones the police asking them to send someone quick because she's in danger.

As someone else has just said, I'd have a body cam permanently filming if I were a black man in America.

Anyone who can't see this needs to open their eyes.

Ilovechinese · 26/05/2020 11:33

Who cares what her side of the story is? Wow a lot of racist people on here

catpoooffender · 26/05/2020 11:34

I'm astonished and dismayed by the victim blaming on this thread. This woman is racist and manipulative at best, and she absolutely deserves to lose her job.

workshy44 · 26/05/2020 11:36

Fair enough - suppose it is different there but I really wouldn't like someone filming me- it isn't an excuse though
She will lose her job, lots of her friends, her life is ruined. She could of got him killed though, or in America doing 25 to life in prison for attempted murder !

Generally speaking, I don’t like Twitter mobs / public shaming, and I also can imagine that many people would react badly to being filmed, but the way she looks straight at him and says that she will call the cops and say an African American is threatening her life is chilling

Anotherthink · 26/05/2020 11:39

He was offering the dog treats to make her put a lead on the dog which she was refusing to do as she believed her entitlement to walk her dog trumped other people's enjoyment and the rules. He filmed because it had already escalated and not the other way round, he was absolutely right to do so to protect himself.

She is a racist twat and ignorant of it too if she thought it sensible to continue with the accusations while he was filming her.

This 100%^^

workshy44 · 26/05/2020 11:40

I'm from a mixed race family so not sure how I am racist but sure go ahead.

AKissAndASmile · 26/05/2020 11:40

I hate the term 'African American'. It really makes me cringe.

Bluntness100 · 26/05/2020 11:41

Christ that poor dog, and the way she became nearly hysterical. And what the hell did the mans ethincity have to do with it. Yes it’s arguable he shouldn’t have done what he did, but fuck me it’s minor in comparison to her behaviour.

AKissAndASmile · 26/05/2020 11:42

Of course you are. MN always has a 'mixed race' person, or 'white woman married to a black guy' pop up on these threads to be racist.

justamumof1 · 26/05/2020 11:43

Just because you're mixed race, doesn't mean you can't be racist.

Look at Doja Cat

boredtotears11 · 26/05/2020 11:47

There’s no law that says you can’t film in public places and yes I think she should lose her job, and be prosecuted for animal cruelty too.

calpolatdawn · 26/05/2020 11:47

Its a difficult one, I really really feel creeped out by the whole "lets film someone and destroy their life on twitter" that people seem to gleefully engage in nowadays, its seems like people often provoke situations that otherwise wouldn't have to get 'evidence'. Having said that she said a really shitty thing, and that poor dog Angry, why not just lead the dog? And! if shes a woman on their own she may have felt a little threatened who knows? i dont agree with public shaming as a whole so i can't really think good for him, but the police brutality angle makes it understandable.

workshy44 · 26/05/2020 11:48

Ok but calling every random person who doesn't a 100% agree with you does diminish the argument. She was completely in the wrong- her actions could have had serious repercussions for him, perhaps even been killed but I do think - watching the video and only seeing that, not what went on before or after etc that it looks like she is going to leash the dog and things only kick off when she sees he is filming her and he doesn't stop. Now just as well he didn't stop filming given what she did but maybe nothing would have happened if he had stopped

it doesn't make her less wrong - its just an observation. Plus I would absolutely HATE someone to film me without my consent.

ginghamstarfish · 26/05/2020 11:48

He was absolutely right to film it, as he saw she was getting agressive and argumentative - as a black man/white woman situation, sadly, yes he would be smart to have proof of what happened if matters had escalated. Normally I'm not a fan of filming twattish behaviour, but given the place and circumstances, right thing to do.

TheLashKingOfScotland · 26/05/2020 11:48

2boys apparently before filming started, he had asked her to leash her dog because it was a wildlife area and she initially refused because the dog run part of the park was closed. He advised another part of the park she could use. When she still refused, he tried to entice the puppy to him with dog treats, then he started filming.
I don't know whether there is an issue with people poisoning dogs in NY parks but I do think offering treats to a dog in that situation wasn't ideal and could have made her think he was threatening the dog.
There is no excuse for her calling the police and saying he was threatening her life.

Jaxhog · 26/05/2020 11:50

It's difficult to know exactly what happened as the film posted omits the first part of their encounter. From what there is, he sounds deliberately provocative, and she sounds quite scared. Although she should have had her dog leashed, they both overreacted.
