To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting). All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

jaxhog - she didn't sound scared in the slightest until she faked anxiety and over breathing on her call to the police.

VenusTiger · 26/05/2020 12:12

Being goaded into defence mode and then that being captured on film makes you look like the baddy. That man with the dog treats was out with his camera phone to make a point and share on SM.
The woman quite frankly has issues too, she should not be letting her dog off the lead in public and she should not be advising the police on the colour of the man's skin, it's irrelevant. She lost the argument at this point. But, he wanted this to happen.

Chienloup · 26/05/2020 12:12

Not just recent events - due to an age-old deeply embedded culture of racism, control, and disregard for black lives.

This woman threatens to have this man killed, she lies to police, and puts on a despicable act to remind the man as to the power she wields over him and all black people.

I hope she permanently loses her job, she is a threat to all of her black colleagues who have a right to feel safe at work.

matchboxtwentyunwell · 26/05/2020 12:13

She was being filmed because in a 'he said she said' scenario with the police, the tearful white woman was going to win. Even though they were fake tears.

Dillydallyingthrough · 26/05/2020 12:14

That video is scary and the woman disgusting, she could have got him killed for nothing.

I obviously haven't been on MN long enough as I really cannot believe anyone is even attempting to defend it excuse her. I'm also shocked that so many seem more concerned about the dog than the man (and that's coming from someone who loves dogs!).

SickOfLockdown · 26/05/2020 12:15

@MrsOfBebbanburg I was just highlighting a recent event

MulticolourMophead · 26/05/2020 12:16

I went down a YouTube rabbit hole recently and ended up seeing lots of videos being posted online by black people in America. These videos show all sorts of stupid situations that have only come about because white people are harrassing black people.

Many of these videos showed cops pulling over black people, just because they could.

One video showed the newly elected female, black State Attorney for Florida being pulled over, the cops backed off like a rocket once she started asking for their names.

Another video showed a black student with a bucket and gripper stick picking up rubbish being accosted by a cop who demanded ID, even though the student wasn't required to produce it, as he was fully on his student accommodation property. This one ended up with about 6 cops around him, but once the supervising cop got involved things got sorted very quickly with apologies to the student, and the cop who started things being fired 2 weeks later.

Black people are filming everything now, for their own protection, and I don't blame them.

This woman isn't a victim, not when she's callously calling cops on the man, knowing what the possible outcome could be.

derenstar · 26/05/2020 12:17

@MitziK totally agree. It actually sent chills down my spine when she said those words - that there was an African American man threading her life. She knew exactly what she was doing and the consequences, she knew those words could lead to the man getting killed by the police, based on previous events and the history.

She’s only sorry she got caught. She’s an evil cow and deserves everything she get. I wish the US would make these types of malicious calls a chargeable offence, attempted murder would be fitting.

Glowcat · 26/05/2020 12:17

I wouldn’t like being filmed. I understand that. The idea of it being posted online somewhere to invite comments is unpleasant. Women do suffer harassment, including filming, by random men. He wasn’t some creepy man leering at her or a teenager being an arse with his mates though and she knew it. He was a birdwatcher asking her to put her dog on a lead in an area where that is required. I’d assume he filmed it to protect himself.

Toilenstripes · 26/05/2020 12:18

She’s garbage. I’ve never seen something like this in real life. In the mid-90s I was in a car being driven by a black friend. We passed a police car going in the other direction and she said “here we go, time to get followed “ and I said “no way, you weren’t doing anything wrong “ but sure enough the police car did a u-turn and started following us. It just never ends.

TheFallenMadonna · 26/05/2020 12:18

Being goaded into defence mode and being racist is still being racist. That's her issue.

dreamingbohemian · 26/05/2020 12:19

It's horrific. I can't believe people are both-siding this.

Someone upthread mentioned Ahmaud Arbery, who was essentially lynched by two white men in Georgia this year. No charges were filed until a video of the incident was published. I would absolutely expect anyone in the US who is not white to film any encounters with racists and/or police, it may be the only way to defend themselves or get justice.

Schoenes · 26/05/2020 12:19

The woman is disgusting.

DeRigueurMortis · 26/05/2020 12:20

I'm struggling to see how anyone can watch that video and not see the racism.

She approaches him aggressively.

He asks her to stay away from him.

Then she try's to bully him with telling the police that an African American is threatening her life (which he clearly wasn't).

He tells her to please call the police.

She then follows through on that threat with a ridiculously over the top report that made it sound as if her life is in danger - when in fact the only life in danger was that of her dog which she choking with it's collar.

She was trying to get this man in serious trouble for having the temerity to ask her to put her dog on a lead.

In the circumstances I can absolutely understand why he was filming. By her actions she'd proven she was happy to mis-report what was happening.

I'm not usually a fan of twitter justice but in this case I think the more people who are made aware of how racism manifests itself so malignantly in some people the better.

MrsOfBebbanburg · 26/05/2020 12:20

I was just highlighting a recent event

And I’m saying it isn’t just that one (not sure which one you’re highlighting?) that will have caused fear for him. Even if that one event hadn’t happened he’d still be terrified by her using his race in her call to the police.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 26/05/2020 12:21

The way her voice goes at the end of the phonecall to 911 is chilling.

Manipulative racist knobhead.

He even asks her politely to not get too close to him as she’s advancing on him. That’s not the behaviour of someone who feels scared and threatened.

I’m so thankful sometimes that I don’t live in America. I know the UK is sadly not exactly squeaky clean but at least the police don’t shoot people.

SickOfLockdown · 26/05/2020 12:22

@MrsOfBebbanburg okay Hmm

Gwenisthename · 26/05/2020 12:23

She should be ashamed of herself

MrsOfBebbanburg · 26/05/2020 12:25

okay Hmm

What’s your problem?? Confused

dreamingbohemian · 26/05/2020 12:25

I understand she has in fact been fired and her employer has said they do not tolerate racism of any kind.

Pinklynx · 26/05/2020 12:25

If she was really scared like she claimed and if he was really screaming at her, then she would not have approached him in such a confrontational way she would have left the area. She would certainly not have called the police in front of him if she really felt threatened.

If I was a black man in the US I would definitely film such encounters. If not what's to stop her claiming he assaulted her. Why did she even have to mention his ethnicity except to ramp up the complaint to the police. She was already crying crocodile tears and clearly lying to the police. Even if he wasn't found guilty, being arrested would be extremely unpleasant.

I can't believe the number of people pretzeling the story to make out he's in the wrong.

Schoenes · 26/05/2020 12:26

She is a very hysterical broad, whereas the man was well spoken and polite. I hope she loses her job and is recognised on the streets. She is not fit to own a cockroach, let alone a dog.

potter5 · 26/05/2020 12:26

I hope she is sacked. Vile behaviour.

Greensidepark · 26/05/2020 12:26

For those saying she was scared. Did you watch the video. She was the one walking up to him. He was the one telling her to stay away. She was not scared at all. She is a racist who knew what she was doing.

araiwa · 26/05/2020 12:28
